Through the years, Jesse Keegan of Keegan Electric has completed various electrical projects on my home in Escondido, Ca. He has installed recessed lighting, run electrical for outdoor lighting and as of October 2015, installed a 21 microinverter solar power system using LG panels and Enphase micro-inverters. Jesse provided an overview of the entire process, including timing and kept us informed the entire way. When he had to get into the walls to run some wiring for the solar, also correcting some mistakes made by others in the past, he made nice clean drywall cuts. It was about four or five months ago that I made my definitive decision to go solar. I'm not some big environmentalist and, quite frankly, I was quite skeptical about the whole deal-- but we have a hot tub and the expense of heating the dang thing was just plain killing us. So, rather than responding to the millions of calls and advertisements we seem to get for solar I decided I would be the one to contact various companies. I had heard Jesse Keegan's advertisements on the radio and decided he would be one of the many contractors I would contact. I was already prepared to let each company I spoke with know that I was going to obtain many, many quotes and would get back to them if they provided the best value. It so happens the first call I made was to Keegan-- and, as is his style I spoke directly to Jesse. I scheduled an appointment and a few days later I welcomed the Keegan representative into my home.... it was Jesse. (Are you starting to see a pattern here?) As I spoke to Jesse I realized a few things about him-- 1) he knows what he is talking about, 2) he is super straightforward, low-key and low-pressure and 3) he is as honest as they come. It didn't take me long to decide this was a person I wanted to do business with! So, after determining I would speak to at least six or eight companies before making any decisions I decided to go with Keegan-- the first and only company to which I spoke. A few weeks later, about the time he said things would start to happen, things started to happen. First my service needed to be upgraded. This job was done by.... Jesse (although he did actually have another guy with him). Most of the time from signing up with Keegan to having solar installed was waiting on the electric company and their various inspections. When they said okay, the panels were installed on the roof in about a day and half. Then, after some more waiting on the electric company, the panels were activated. I have a son and a son-in-law who live out of state and have had solar panels installed. I would frequently ask whether or not they had saved money and neither one could say for sure. My son said "it took so long from signing to activation" that he'd forgotten everything he ever learned about solar panels by then. Not so with my Keegan experience! First of all Keegan provides a ten-year warranty. The manufacturer provides an additional fifteen years after that. So, basically, my panels will be operating at 95% efficiency 25 years from now (when I'll have been in Heaven for quite some time). I've got a nice app on my phone that lets me monitor my panels' production 24 hours a day. And I'm absolutely sure there are other solar companies that could provide the same products. BUT, there are two things I can tell you about my system-- last month my electric bill was $12-- and we haven't even gotten to the sunny months yet! The second thing I can tell you is that if, God forbid, I have a problem with my solar panel system I can call the company that installed it and talk to the owner, sales rep, system designer and installer himself. Jesse Keegan recently installed a 6 KW solar system using LG panels and Enphase micro-inverters and am very pleased with both the speed of completion of the project and the quality of the installation. Jesse is professional, courteous, on-time, reliable, provides frequent status updates and pays meticulous attention to details on the job. His support team for roofing, stucco and drywall repairs are all excellent. He is one of few solar contractors with special expertise in micro-inverter systems that offer some advantages over traditional single-inverter systems. His rates are very reasonable. I elected to have an electrical panel upgrade done in conjunction with the solar system installation. This provides better resale value for a homeowner than purchasing the alternative RMA device to interface with an older panel and this upgrade also qualifies for the 30% federal tax solar credit. My new panel is state of the art and specifically designed to work with solar systems. I have significant contracting experience thru prior remodeling projects and also have an electrical engineering degree. I never planned to interview 6 solar companies before deciding on Keegan Electric. However, I found that in each case prior to meeting Jesse, my contact was limited to salesmen that came to bid on the job who had an inadequate knowledge about the solar systems themselves, presented unrealistic return on investment analysis, had a lack of practical experience in assessing the whether the roof needed any work in preparation to installing the solar system, or inexperience with incorporating an electrical panel upgrade into the solar project. Since they were sales representatives or general contractors rather than installers, they could not supply many details about how the project would proceed, what materials would be used or what the final cost would be. They could really only guarantee the bid for the solar system itself. I didn't feel comfortable signing sign a contract not having answers to my questions. One by one, the various solar contractors failed to follow-up with satisfactory answers. Jesse, in contrast, was a hands-on installer and electrician with extensive experience. All of my questions were answered, and not just with "an answer", but with the correct answer, as I already knew the answer to some of these questions. Jesse passed "the grilling" with flying colors and I felt very assured to be dealing directly with an experienced installer rather than a middleman in marketing and sales that I will never see again once the contract is signed. He also accommodated my desire to beat the deadline before the less favorable Net Metering II rules start later this summer. Detailed plans were drawn and all permits for the panel upgrade and solar system were obtained in only 1 week. Installation was performed 2 weeks later and took 1.5 days to complete, with the exception of some final stucco patching to be done around the new electrical panel. My home was left spotless after both work days. Working with contractors is not often something homeowners describe as a "pleasurable" experience. However, in this case I can say it was a real pleasure working with Jesse and his crew on this project and I look forward to working with him again in the future. read more

I found Jesse on Yelp, based on the numerous glowing reviews. He is scheduled for 8:30, and amazingly my door bell range at 8:30:00. My first impression is that he is polite, clean-cut, and projects an air of competent. He installed an outdoor 12V outlet with GFI Grounding for me, in less than 45 minutes. I also had a small kitchen issue that needed to be look up. Jesse took care of that as well. The entire service call is a fraction of what I had received from other electricians. Most of all, he is polite, well-mannered, and went about doing his job with precision and speed. This owner is so unresponsibile. We had an appointment set up, and just didn't show up and without telling us. We tried to call him, text him. No response. If you are not coming, at least let me know so I can call other people to come during that time. He is wasting our time. Also, we have asked him to send us the quote ahead of time, and he did promise us to send us an estimate. But we never never received the estimate or the quote from him. He is a such unresponsible person. I don't recommend anyone to choose this dealer. Think about it. The solar system will be have a 25 year warranty. If his attitude is like this, how can you trust him to maintain your system for the next 25 years. I was looking to upgrade my 125Amp electric service from an old Zinsco panel to a new Square D panel. I received several quotes from local electricians. All were roughly around the same price. However, Jesse Keegan was definitely the electrician that wanted to help get our panel replaced and work with us. SDGE recently changed their standards and the location for our replacement electrical panel would need to be changed over a foot from it's existing location. My wife and I did not want to have to trench and replace conduit for a new location. Jesse worked with us and SDGE to plan a new location that we could work with without trenching and still meet 2017 code. Jesse made at least 4 visits to my house prior to install to talk with my wife, me and our carpenter who would be doing some additional framing prior to the panel installation. One night I lost power to half my house. I tried the breaker box and noticed the main breaker was not resetting properly. I don't like messing with AC, so I found Keegan Electric.
