Every time I go there, there are always old-time customers eating in or ordering to go, always seeming quite happy to engage with the proprietors. If it was a poor establishment, I doubt you would find such loyal customers. Furthermore, in an era of high inflation, getting a dozen of delicious, fluffy and FRESH donuts prepared at the establishment for only $20.00 is a Godsend. Finally, if they're out of the donuts that you desire, just ask, and they'll make some for you. It may take 19 minutes, but it's definitely worth the wait. read more

Came here twice in the past few weeks, once to order two dozens and another time to order seven dozens. The staff were warm, friendly, and accommodating. When I first came to order two dozen, I picked out each donut and they were very patient with me. The second order I made which was seven dozens, I had ordered mixed and they chose the donuts for me. The variety they chose was the perfect mix of all the donuts they had. Shop itself is a normal donut shop size, but a line quickly formed after I arrived both times. Definitely gives old school, hardworking family owned shop vibes, which I appreciate. At both events I brought the donuts to, they were a hit. People were asking me where I was getting these donuts from, and commenting that it was a step above from their local donut shop. For me, the donuts are fresh, delicious, airy and not too dense. What really sells this place for me is the pricing. Some places are charging $24+ for two dozen donuts, while a dozen donuts here is under $20. I know the owner works hard each morning to prepare all these donuts, and it really shows. I definitely look forward to coming back here in the future because the donuts are tasty, the price point is more than reasonable, and the service is friendly. read more

The guy there is very rude. Every time I deal with lady, she always gets me the donuts the way I want them. When the guy is there, he just gives attitude and gives me a hard time and tells me that I can't have the donuts the way I want them. I don't know how that place is still in business. There is nothing special about this donut shop. Basic donuts that are sometimes on the stale side. The reason I will never go to this donuts shop ever again is they are inconsistent and overcharge. It is run by a couple and the wife is nice and husband is not. He overcharges for the donuts and tried to charge me 50 cents to use a credit card. It's not the 1970s where it costs more for a credit card and I'm not paying so he can evade taxes and hide money from IRS. His wife charged less and no 50 cents for credit card. With a good Dunkin' donuts across the street and many decent donut shops nearby I will go elsewhere. read more

Not sure how this place has so many good reviews. Went in there to grab a couple donuts as it's been awhile since I've had a donut...my lord, can the people who work there be any more rude? Ignored for 5 minutes before they just looked at me annoyed and asked what I wanted. Got a chocolate chocolate cake donut and and plain cake. Oh and they dont tell you nor is there a sign anywhere that an extra fee is added when using a card. Getting to work (about 5 minutes away) I tried a donut...horrible. Oily, stale donuts. The man making the donuts was talking about Charlie Kirks shooter. He said he respects the shooter and likes that guy. I've came here for ham and cheese for many years. As I was ordering, he was going on and on about how much he really likes the shooter while he was on the phone with someone. What a horrible place to give money for any reason. I got a refund and talked to him about why he shouldn't be spewing such hate, especially while at work. He told me he doesnt care as he laughed hard about it, told me that he has a good life already so it doesn't matter to him. Pure evil business! I got a refund and will never go back ever again. I am a donut lover - it's my biggest weakness. I have tried countless donut shops, and I'm so glad I stopped by KD's. These donuts were delicious. Great texture - not too bready like many shops are. Good size, light, airy. Right amount of glaze, great taste. Nice small shop - I was in and out. Highly recommend if you're ever out in Foothill Ranch. read more

My kid got a free donut coupon from school and they were so excited to "buy" their own donut. The woman who helped us was very kind, once we left we also noticed that she slipped in a couple donut holes too!! I love a good donut shop ham & cheese croissant so decided to start reviewing them so I can keep track of the better ones from the mediocre. This one is on the slightly smaller size from majority but man it was good. Light flaky dough. Ham is sliced thin and plentiful. Cheese gooey. They only had the regular no jalapeno. But it was very fresh and tasty. Cost $3.50. As long as they keep it consistent its 5 stars for the ham & cheese. read more

This is a classic neighborhood hole-in-the-wall donut shop, in every sense. The donuts are made fresh every morning, and so is the coffee. This makes it automatically better than, for example, the chain donut shop that opened up across the street last year. It seems to be run by a sole proprietor who has been there since the beginning, like 20 years ago. Though sometimes he seems a bit gruff, he just doesn't have a bubbly personality. And that's fine because service is efficient and most of all, reliable. Not everyone wants to have a chat on their way to work anyway. KD's has all the standard selections of donuts, including maple bars that are truly excellent. I'm no maple bar connoisseur but I can tell you that these are among the best I've had. Solid donuts. Perfect texture and glaze. Not too soft and not chewy. Very original donut batter. They're not always in the best mood, but you never know what someone is going through. I love the donuts from this place, but management needs to be more conscious about the cleanliness of their customers. Twice now I've seen the same homeless lady in there and she puts her hands down her pants and scratches then touches the napkins, counter and pay station. Today she even had her dirty shoe on the glass case where the donuts are displayed. I have nothing against homeless people, but I am concerned about the germs that others come in contact by touching things that she touched after scratching her front and behind. read more

I had to come in to work early for an east coast meeting, and this was the only place open. they just brought out the chocolate croissant OMG! -- not on the same level as a guild certified boulangerie french parissien version, but this was quite good -- all the other donut shops, and I've been to a lot of them, don't even come close. for comparison, get the overpriced version at Au Pain in Laguna Hills, try them side by side. read more

Stopped in for a couple doughnuts. It's a very tiny place and the selection is minimal. The guy who was working there didn't say a word to me except to tell me the price after he rang me up (by the way - CASH ONLY). I purchased a chocolate bar and a colorful sprinkle donut. The donuts were very dry and didn't taste fresh. There were a couple tables inside but the chairs were stacked on top; I guess they discourage you from hanging out there. Currently the yelp listing says "K D's Donuts & Chinese Food" but this is just a donut shop. There is a Chinese restaurant next door but it's a separate business. So don't go here thinking you'll get a maple bar on top of some pork fried rice. read more

This is very sad for me to write as a long time customer. Today I called and spoke to Joe the owner . Normally his wife handles the orders and is very kind to the customers. I asked him if I can order donuts for my daughters birthday . He yelled at me for not knowing the name of the donut , when I tried to explain . He then began screaming at me that he doesn't know how to write and it's my fault for not knowing the name. I asked if I can explain the donut and he continued to yell . Then he told Me come come in person because it's my fault and I can't order properly . When he finally listened and I explained the donut , he told me it's called the " cake donut " I asked for two dozen . I was still ready to order and pay . Then I asked if he could make two more cake donuts with pink frosting , he again screamed at me and told me come to the store . I explained I do not need the donut's until Saturday and since it will be 4 dozen I wanted to order in advance . I tried to calmly ask to speak to his wife and he continue to yell and then started screaming at me in another language. I really am sad that I can no longer go here to order as we went many times a month for our kids and big orders for the kids school. I don't feel safe having this man around me or my kids . I am a small business owner and would never scream at a customer . I asked him if he was ok and maybe I should call back later and he got more angry . I'm concerned about his mental health as this was a person very unhinged. Had a craving for donuts, so made my way to KD's... Donuts in the case looked good enough, however, the smell of cigarette smoke was so bad inside the donut shop that I just couldn't stay. No one was there to help us or even acknowledge that we were there anyway, but the place was so full of cigarette smoke smell. I can only imagine where the employees were. read more

I bought a ham and cheese donut with a large cup of hot & fresh coffee. That was a wonderful breakfast for me. For dessert: I bought; A glazed donut, sprinkled nuts donut, and a banana nut muffin.
