Kanwal does an amazing job shaping eyebrows. Since I have very sensitive skin, its very hard to find someone who is careful while threading. Kanwal takes her time and gives amazingly shaped eyebrows and it doesn't hurt either! The place has a convenient parking lot which saves a lot of time finding parking in downtown. I was recommended to KD's threading by one of my good friends and I am so happy that i found Kanwal. I got a little lost the first time I went to her office because it moved from San Mateo to San Carlos, but she promptly replied to my texts when I told her I had trouble finding the salon. Before going to KD's Threading, I used to get my eyebrows threaded at Avant Garde Spa in San Carlos. I would never be pleased with how my eyebrows would turn out and they always seemed to be disproportional or not how I wanted them. OMG, first off I only went here based on the great reviews she has. I came in to get my eyebrows cleaned and tinted. So she goes on to tint my brows, and then proceeds to thread them. She was telling me there's some areas in my brows that need more hair, and pointed to the area while she was threading my brows. When it was all done, the tinting barely even showed, and my brows didn't look evenly shaped. To top it off, she threaded off the ending part (tail) of my brow, the same area where she said I needed more hair. Ummm, no you totally messed me up and now you're trying to cover it up by saying I need to grow more hair there. I know exactly how my eyebrows look and what areas are sparse. I'm so upset and disappointed. Waste of $35.00 ($15.00 for the messed up threading and $20.00 for the tinting that didn't even darken my brows) Wish I could give her zero stars. Best eyebrow threading spot I've been to on the Peninsula and South Bay. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for about 7 years now and finally I found a place where I feel comfortable and confident in the person threading my eyebrows every visit. I have had problems in the past with threaders making my eyebrows too thin. If you are looking for a threader in Foster or San Mateo I truly believe you will not be disappointed if you go to KD's. I have never had a problem scheduling an appointment or finding parking. I usually park in the 20 minute zone and I'm back to my car by the time the meter expires. read more

I have a hard time trusting anyone doing my brows and the first time I came here, Kanwal gave me the most helpful tips on how to improve my eyebrow hair thickness and she did what no other brow artist has done- gave constructive criticism on my brows and how asymmetrical they were. She had to take off some of my eyebrow hair, however they were so even and so symmetrical after, I was surprised my brows could even do that! My second visit my hair had grown in longer so she was able to shape them out perfectly and left them thicker than the first visit. My eyebrows are the cleanest and most symmetrical I've ever had them. She really gave me the shape I've been waiting for! I've been to many threading spots in the area and this is my go-to! Even though I've moved further up the peninsula, I still drive down to KD's for threading. KD is gentle and quick and always does a great job cleaning up my brows. Unlike other spots, she trims my eyebrows with small scissors to give them a "clean" look. She also puts on aloe afterwards. 1 star for poor service and lack of communication. The lady who does the brow threading is always late to her appointments so you usually have to wait for her to show up. If you need an appt at a certain time or day, she'll only book you for a time convenient to her, then she shows up late +10 min. My last visit, she didnt clearly communicate her new location so I went to the previous location where she used to be and the employees there said people have been showing up there for her when she was no longer there. Really inconvenient and disappointed that I drove from San Carlos to Belmont during traffic hour and she was in San Carlos. I didn't feel valued here nor that she respects my time. Literally, the best eyebrow experience I've had. Today was the first time I have gotten my eyebrows threaded and I LOVED IT!! KD makes sure that you get the eyebrows that you want. She shapes them like how you want them and when she gives her own professional advice. I opted for a more natural look and she did a great job. KD is amazing! She fixed my super messed up brows. I'd been waxing and moving around after my esthetician/nail tech retired. Needless to say most place don't care how they leave you looking or they assume that everyone wants super thin brows which seems to be trendy in the Bay Area. I love my naturally thick brows and really don't ever want to much taken off other than maybe giving them a more refined shape. Kanwal is super sweet and gives you tips on how to make your eyebrows thicker.
