I've seen so many people be completely transformed by this gym, not only in physical fitness, but in all aspects of life. You will grow with this gym as you become a member of a tight knit community. What makes this place truly special is the people. The trainers befriend you and legitimately care about you meeting your goals and your wellbeing. After moving to VA from TX a little over a year ago, I made a decision to really work on taking…read morebetter care of myself and getting physically fit. Two of my co-workers were going to this gym, and both highly recommended it. The gym did an open boot camp session and I went and got to meet some of the people that already go to the gym, and to see the trainers in action. I was highly impressed and new I wanted to sign up for a series of personal training sessions. I have been going now for almost 2 months and my trainer is Sarah. I have not missed a session, and from my past history with personal trainers, this is a true indication of how much I enjoy working out here. Each session Sarah challenges me to do more and my strength, stamina, core and balance areas are all strengthening. Being handicapped, I was worried about keeping up, or not being able to do certain exercises. Sarah customizes training for me, is very patient and continues to encourage me to do more than I think I can. I recommend this gym if you are looking to work with people that are committed to helping you become the best physical self you can be. Joel, Maya and Sarah make you feel like family, and continually encourage you. Additionally the people that come to the gym are always in a good mood and enjoy their time there. It is a positive and encouraging atmosphere that produces results.

The manager took my information to send via text information about pricing, contract terms and conditions, etc. that I asked about when I walked in. I received only pricing information the same day (Wednesday, 6 Sep). I replied via text same day with thanks and asked if Joel was available the following week for the initial assessment and was told that if anything opened up, I'd receive a text (and that another trainer might be available). I responded that I didn't mind waiting for Joel and said the waiting list is fine, but could I get on the schedule for his next available opening -- just to be sure there was something confirmed on the calendar at some point because what if I couldn't make it to a spontaneous opening. I did not hear back. So I followed up via text two days later, Friday, 8 Sep... I kindly reiterated that I'm happy to have my name on a waiting list, but could I also just secure a date for an available time in the future -- even if it's a couple weeks away -- for the peace of mind ... otherwise I'd just consistently have to hope that something might open up and that my schedule would align (a likely challenge!). The manager responded and thanked me for my patience, again saying she'd try to get me in next week and that Joel is booked. AGAIN, I said that I didn't mind waiting, but could I Please. Just. Schedule. A. Known. Open. Slot. (in addition to the waiting list, fine). Once more, the manager either missed or disregarded my point entirely, saying once again that she would try to get me in soon and to be patient. Two and a half weeks later, and I haven't heard back since... Patience wasn't the issue -- I said multiple times that I didn't mind at all to wait (I didn't expect him to be available the next day!); I just wanted to secure a future spot without relying on the hope of a random opening. That's not unreasonable for a person with a full-time job. I spoke with a friend whose experience reflected a similar challenge--said that every week, it was a struggle to get on the trainers' calendars. Seems they've got plenty of business to keep everyone busy, so that's great for them as a small business in a competitive industry, but boy am I disappointed at this approach to business operations and (prospective) customer service. I was excited about picking up my wellness journey here; it's a shame.

The first time I came in was to get some info about what they had to offer and I met Scott, who was extremely friendly and helpful. He did not pressure me at all, which is what I prefer, especially when I consider my experiences with your typical gyms. He gave me the info I need and told me to come back when I'm ready. One thing he mentioned was the Introduction to Crossfit two week program that teaches you the basics of Crossfit, all for free. The "box" is one of the nicer ones I've seen and they have plenty of equipment for the various workouts they conduct. They keep it clean, but it has a little wear and tear, which I like to call character. It tells me that people use the facility and plenty of sweat has been broken here. One cool thing I like is that they have a kids area so parents can get in a workout and not have to get a babysitter. This is critical because kids can be an anchor or an excuse for not exercising. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming the kiddos, but this day in age it's a hard balance. By having the kids area it helps alleviate that problem and/or excuse. From the research I've done the prices for their various membership programs are competitive to higher priced, but I think you'll get your money's worth no matter what you decide to do. Speaking of, they have lots of options from punchcards to a yearly plan and savings for families and college students. Make sure you check them out: http://crossfitdurable.com/monthly-membership/ I'm still trying to figure if I'm going to jump in, but the free community workouts have given me some motivation and something to think about. My only concern is how many tribal tattoos will I come away with ;)

Stafford location closed with no notice today, and this is managed by Keone Pierce and his co-owner…read moreTom. Keone also is a partner at the Fredericksburg location, Mechanicsville; he and Tom recently opened a brand new location in Louisa, VA. The owners, Keone Pierce and Tom didn't care about the Stafford facility. For weeks we had a broken toilet, the carpets never were cleaned, new inexperienced trainers were added to fill scheduling gaps, and many classes were cancelled last minute with no reason or for some other event that he'd rent this nasty place to. Why did I still go, you ask? The members and the experienced trainers who cared showed up with great energy and we motivated one another. But tonight, we all received an email stating that our facility is closed immediately. No notice, no reason, no mention of a refund, nothing. Someone even drove by the place and saw carpets being pulled up from the facility - an hour after the last workout was done that day. Trainers weren't even notified until five min prior of sending that email to members. Keone Pierce and his co-partner Tom definitely had their plan and waited for the last minute to pull this stunt. The Fredericksburg and Mechanicsville locations have much better facilities with other partners who may actually care and run an effective business (so they say - never seen myself). But with my experience at Stafford, I post this review to caution you when you sign up. If Keone Pierce's name is involved, he only cares about getting your money and not you as a person. He is unprofessional. This is coming from someone who supported him and his business fully, and worked out alongside members who also supported him for years - and we're dropped just like that yesterday evening via email. I'm grateful for one thing. It put me in contact with some awesome people and we'll be moving our fitness journey forward elsewhere.

Tom and Brooke, the instructors, are incredible motivators, and often workout alongside clients for the duration of the class. I like that everyone is in it together, and it's not about how quickly you can complete the workout, or just rushing through sets to get out of there. The community aspect is really important as well, and one of my favorite holiday traditions at Sarge is our "Angel Tree" over the holidays, where we can choose to "adopt" local kids and make their holiday gift needs and wants a reality.

I completed the 7 day free trial period with my friend and that's the basis for this review. Pros: -Great for people who enjoy working out in groups -Efficient 45 min workout -You sign up for classes via their dedicated app, then it can be added to the calendar in your phone -The raised padded floor is great for those of us with knee problems, it makes for a soft landing - they have child care -you can complete workouts from home video chat -they have women's only classes -unisex bathrooms with baby changing tables -they offer one-on-one support with nutrition (not sure how often) Cons: -Not so great for people who need more instruction because the class moves quickly -About 5-7 mins of the 45 mins is dedicated to warm-up and instructions, which makes for a short workout for some - The app doesn't tell you what the focus of the workout is going to be, so if you work out on your own you risk working on the same muscle group you already focused on by yourself -only class based workouts, no cardio machines, no time to stretch or do anything on your own -not open on Sundays -No locker room/showers Overall: This would make for a great secondary gym for someone who can't focus/doesn't have the motivation to complete HIIT workouts on their own (seeing as how there are plenty of free options online). It's a no frills, no thrills type of gym, get in, do your workout, and leave. They don't even have towels you can use. It's all about community here, so if that's what you're looking for, then this would be good for you. You must wear a face mask everywhere except while on the padded floor.
