Egg Roll on a stick and Cream Cheese Puffs (Wontons)
    Matt W.

Easily one of my favorite food trucks, period. Their food is phenomenal. My personal favorites are their egg rolls on a stick (which are huge) and their cream cheese wontons. The way they do their wontons or "puffs" are much more like a croissant or mini pie. Perfectly crisp, with an amazing creamy filling. The batter used for deep frying has a ton of flavor and is never greasy like what seems to happen for many trucks of this nature. Everything they produce seems to have the perfect crispness as well. Overall, the value of this truck is amazing, pricing is extremely fair for what you get and they've never disappointed (I seek them out at all events they pop up at. This particular time we had them come by for a work lunch).

When I'm at an event browsing food trucks and I see KCM Eggrolls, my decision has been made! They always have a line by their window and keep their menu updated. My favorites are the Vegan Egg Rolls, Vegan Egg Roll Noodle Salad, Avocado Spring Rolls, and Cream Cheese Wontons. The fried outside layers are crispy, and the sauces have strong flavors. I think $12 for spring rolls is a little steep, but I'm happy to pay it and support their business. I hope I keep seeing KCM Eggrolls around Minneapolis!

They didn't skimp on the egg roll fillings, which I really appreciated.

I truly have never had a worse experience with a food truck than what I had here. It took over an…read morehour to get our food and we're talking about a burrito bowl I truly don't know how it can possibly take so long to build a burrito bowl. It would be one thing if they were super busy but they weren't, we timed it and they were sending an order out every 15-20 minutes which is an insanely slow rate especially for a taco food truck. That also doesn't include the fact that they were also sending out partial orders as in if someone ordered 2 orders of tacos they were sending one out and then maybe 5-10 minutes later they would get the next order. They were also parked in the parking lot of the restaurant and one of the workers was going back and forth (and probably should've been getting support from the restaurant) and we asked why it was taking so long and he shrugged and said well it's only about double the wait time of the restaurant (not sure that's something to brag about nor does it look good on the restaurant). We even had 3 people in front of us that went and got their money back because of how long it was taking otherwise we might not have gotten our food for another 30 minutes to an hour. After waiting so long we thought this better be the best food ever and honestly it fell super flat. In one of our bowls the meat was half fat and gristly and inedible. I will definitely avoid coming back here ever again.

As evidenced by the name, Tiki Tim's focuses mainly on island inspired cuisine (save for the fried pickles). Their menu is fairly modest in size, comprised of Tiki (shrimp and crab) cakes, fish tacos, a Hawaiian influenced pulled pork sandwich and a smattering of side dishes. While the choices are limited, they've all been quite good. The fish tacos are the highlight for me, with generous pieces of crispy and not-too-greasy fish, but you really can't wrong with anything (bring a knife and fork for the pork sandwich). The converted big blue Chevy is easy to spot on the streets, the service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Given that we're about as far from the coasts as possible and a long haul from Hawaii, it's nice to see someone aspiring to bring the tropical mindset to the streets of the Twin Cities.
