Kazaxe is a mixture of dance styles combined into an incredibly fun aerobic workout. If you attend these classes regularly, you are bound to become a better dancer. The vibe is very accepting of anything, everything, and everyone. At times I felt like I was transported to the heart of a city, and I forgot that I was in an industrial park in Springfield. Now for the negatives. Be prepared for 3 things before attending: concrete flooring covered with a thin carpet, heat, and extremely loud music. My biggest concern at this facility is the flooring. Jumping up and down on a concrete floor is going to damage your kneese. I would love to see this facility put in cork, rubber, or hardwood flooring. Make sure to grab the ear plugs they offer; otherwise, you will blow your ear drums. Expect it to be warm, so drink plenty of water. You should arrive early. Many people attend these classes, so you will probably have to park far away. I parked on the street since so many other people did that as well. The street has no parking signs, but I'm not sure about the enforcement. read more

Great place to get a cardio workout aka "high intensity dance-party workout". It's one hour of full cardio so you definitely keep your body moving for the whole one hour. Normally starts off with two warm up songs, regular songs, cool down song, and stretching at the end. I purchased the $100, 26 class package which makes it about $3.85/class. It's super convenient because you can sign anyone of your friends in instead of having your friends pay the $6. If your friend or the person you're going with is new, you can sign them in at the front and they will credit you one class back onto your account. Parking is usually packed if you come too early but if you get there 15 minutes before the class starts (usually when the class before ends), the parking lot will clear up quickly. read more

The absolute best place in NoVA to get a workout. I've been hitting up this place on and off for the past 10 years or so, ever since it was located behind Total Wine in Landmark. I love kazaxe! It's so much fun and a great way to get in 1 hr of cardio in without feeling like it's an hr! The class gets packed pretty quickly so it's better to arrive 15-20 minutes early to grab a good spot in class and a good parking spot. Shannon, Paige & Tammy are AWESOME, they are always so upbeat and energetic! However, I've had Morgan a few times and each time (with today being the worst), she forgets her moves... My friend counted today and it was 5-6x that she forgot her moves and at one point, she started the song over! She also does not do all the moves with us on stage so sometimes for the newbies, it's hard to follow along when the teacher isn't doing it and shes just cheering us on the sideline. Thank goodness, Chris was there! He isn't a teacher there but I always see him in class and he is always on stage and sometimes leads the arm workout. Chris at one point, was doing the correct move where as Morgan was not. Her class is definitely not as great of a workout as Tammy, Shannon or Paige. Classes are around $3-6 per class depending on which package you get. You can also split packages between your friends, which is a huge plus! read more

Kazaxe is located in a hidden corner of VA -friends noted if we were driving alone on our first night, we'd probably turn promptly around. Drive through your fear - it's well worth it for the Zumba glow! This was my first ever Zumba class - I wasn't sure I'd survive or have a self-consciousness freak-out, but there's no time for that shizz here. It's welcoming the moment you step in the door none -of this over the top fake "glad you're here" pat-pat-pat sad face non-sense some gyms give, just straight up welcome - have fun like EVERY BODY else. And I mean every gorgeous natural BODY type. It's a high energy class - and the space itself is low frills. But that tells you where the focus is - they're not selling you a $3 bottle of water - nope it's 50 cents, because honey you are there to SWEAT! I think I saw ages 10 - 50 there. Some people knew all the routines some folks, like myself jumped in, got lost, and gave it their all. Even if you are a little slower like me - you'll get on time and rhythm simply because it's so naturally choreographed to what your body wants to do for the musical rhythm. It's a a lot of fun, and you can take a break if need be (I ducked out for part of a song) before coming back to finish up. Honestly - the time flew by but you got your work out! Parking is free - they have some healthy snacks, water, and coconut water. Hoodies and shirts / workout accessories available for reasonable prices. Be forewarned, bring wet wipes if you are squeamish because you will sweat - you will sweat in places that you didn't know could sweat - you will sweat with the fury of a thousand magical seas. You will sweat and be funky - but it will be a living universal funk of love. And if you ride the metro partway like me no f*cks will be given - because you will reach such a perfect pinnacle of endorphin and happy synaptic things that happen and merge all at once - that ain't nothin' gonna bring you down! I'm serious I got a Zumba high - something I haven't felt since my last sweat lodge. So duck in and out, hydrate, go hard, go soft -but do yourself a favor and go! If you can't twerk (like me) they do have classes that not only show you how but have step by step instructions on other dance moves too. They don't have any mirrors so you don't have to worry about getting distracted looking at yourself! It's a high-intensity, dance-party workout that will have you twerkin' and workin' to international urban beats. Probably one of the best workouts if you wanna burn a lot of calories and have fun. So I've been attending KZX class for months now and I'm pretty comfortable leaving a review. I LOVE THE WORKOUT I GET HERE! I've joined gyms and attended all kinds of different classes and I've never had a workout like this! The music is always hot and loud and the energy is fun...just the way I like it. It doesn't feel like exercising and that's why I keep coming back. I've brought many friends w/ me and they've loved it! The few negative comments/reviews I've seen are just being whiny... "Parking is bad" -- Yeah it is, but if you can't park close, you park far. That's true anywhere! You have to get there early...that's just the way it is. "It's smelly and stinky" -- I've never gone to a gym or class where people were working out super-hard and it smelled like flowers. If it is, they're doing it wrong! "The bathroom is gross" -- The crew there tries to keep things clean, but if people are nasty and dirty, just do what I do and call people out on leaving a toilet funky when they walk out of the stall. "It's too crowded" -- Yes, it gets really crowded. But everyone is there for the same reason, they want a good workout. They're not going to change location anytime soon so just suck it up. I've been bumped into a couple of times, but no one does it on purpose. "Some of the people are unfriendly" -- Boo hoo...I'm not there to make friends. If you don't want to talk to me, whatever. My point is: It's a family-run business. They want to provide you w/ a good one hour exercise class. It's run out of a bingo hall so it's only $5. Let's keep the focus and just come for the workout! Kazaxe is my happy place. I've been coming since '07 when it was the underground by Landmark mall. Like everyone, I fell in love with this place the first class! I never really thought about leaving a review as most of the gremlins consider this place more of a community rather than a business to rate and this place really don't need any more positive reviews since it's always packed with people from friends' referrals and everything but I thought I'd still go ahead and express my love for this place lol. Parking sometimes can be a issue especially during the day classes. So you have to make sure to park in the spots around the entrance. But they usually warn you by making announcements if anything were to go down, so don't worry. Evening classes, you park EVERYWHERE. You can park in the "no parking" yellow spots, loading dock ramp, fcps spots, double park, parallel park, street park, ass park, whatever to get your car parked. I usually come either 12pm or 515pm to avoid the crowd. The more room I have, the bigger my moves, hence better work out ;) Pro tip 1.for 7:40pm, come at least 20 min early to get a good parking spot and don't forget to reverse park! By the time people all get out at the same time, it gets way too hectic. 2. There's multiple scanning machines for checking in, if you see a line of people waiting, look around to see if they are not using the machines. Often times, they are buying passes and if you are just wanting to check in, you don't have to wait with them! 3. No one is watching you or rating you on how well you are doing so just get lost in the music and go all out!! read more

I wish I was one of those people that could wake up at 5AM to get my workout over with and start my day. In reality, I struggle to even make it into work by 9am so waking up early to suffer is NOT gonna happen. So I tell myself that I will workout as soon as I get home from work, only to be sucked in by my cute dog, our comfy couch and huge TV for hours before bed. Kazaxe is my kind of work out! They have flexible evening and weekend classes and the cost is only $5!! So much cheaper than a gym membership that I never use. This is 1 full hour of cardio that feels like you are just out dancing your butt off at a club. I was really good about coming here with a couple of girl friends after work until they moved to a further location :/ The instructors are gorgeous and they actually workout with you the entire time instead of just yelling out instructions while they just stand there. (big pet peeve of mine) The music is awesome and makes the hour go by so fast! Tips: -Don't eat an hour before you come. You WILL get a cramp -Bring lots of water because you will be sweating bullets -Bring a sweat towel -Don't bring much else because there is no storage for your things and the classes get REALLY full. -Try to get there early so that you can pick a good spot especially if you have never been and will need to see the instructor to learn the moves I wish they would move to McLean!!! hint hint... read more

Kazaxe is the best workout class of any kind I've ever been to. I love to dance but hate Zumba, and felt like traditional gym hip-hop workout classes weren't really doing much for me in the entertainment or calorie burn department. Despite all the reviews talking about how crazy crowded it gets, I haven't been to one yet that didn't still have plenty of room to stretch out and plenty of parking spaces. I even showed up 15 minutes late to my first class and it was no big deal. In that class one of the instructors called me to the stage, which was a little frightening, being my first time and all. Despite that, I came back the next day sore as hell and just pushed through it. I also recently took a hiatus for a severe ankle injury but returned after clearing it with my health care provider. I was surprised that with a few modifications and being a little more careful, I could still get in that crazy intense workout! The music is super loud and the bathrooms are gross, but the instructors, the energy, the lighting, is so damn fun. I'm hoping they open a Tyson's Corner location soon... And also that they take Kazaxe nationwide! read more

This is by far the most energetic, intense, and fun workout I've experienced. The instructors are always enthusiastic and the music is constantly fluid and ranges from hip hop to reggae. This workout is both high intensity and a dance party, with moves that you've always wanted to learn and dance. I always have a good time here! The routines are actually very manageable once you see and dance them. It is such a great workout; it puts going to the gym to shame. I'm always recommending Kazaxé to my friends and colleagues, something I would never do if I didn't think it was a great workout myself. Because it's so popular, you may need to come a little bit earlier to find parking. Also, sessions are just $5 a class. You can also get a keytag and buy multiple classes at a discounted price (6 classes for $25, 14 classes for $50, 30 classes for $100). Every Tuesday is "Two for Tuesday"; if you pay for the 7:40 class, you can take the 8:50 class for free. Don't forget to bring water - stay hydrated! Even if you do forget water, there's a water fountain there or you can purchase water bottles for $0.50/Gatorade for $1. Had the 8 pm class with Tammy on 7/5/2019 and Tammy wasn't the instructor. I was very annoyed. I verified at the front desk and I was told there was a change. I asked why wasn't there some type of notice sent out to customers and informed the lady I scheduled via MINDBODY and was advised it was sent on INSTAGRAM and two short notice to send out elsewhere. Mind you booking is done on MINDBODY app, their website or in person. I checked Instagram and to my NOT surprise....there was no notice on their page. Nano and Chalo I believe instructed the class which was good. So. Its safe to say I can do an honest review at this point. Im a new customer and I went to about 10 classes to date. This is a very high impact wild type of zumba/cardio routine class. You definitely have to find the instructor that is best for you and it might take a few wasted classes but it will be worth it in the end. If you have knee and lower back problems I wouldn't suggest this. There is a lot of hard jerking/twerking, twisting, popping and jumping. A few of the instructors are hArd to keep up with if youre new because some of the steps are executed so wildly. There are other customers on stage though you will be able to understand the dance steps much better. This is a warehouse type of setup with a stage, carpeted floor, no AC no windows and a few industrial type fans. Leaks all over the place with buckets and water on the ground. Parking is overwhelming and I believe the capacity is over 140 people easy and please believe its always packed & hot. Maybe two restrooms. You have to arrive about 20 mins early between finding parking and standing in the LONGGGG checkin line even if you booked from the app which you have to pay in advance for or if you sign up on their website which makes zero sense to me! Also, finding a comfortable spot on the floor. The staff are very customer service friendly, kids can attend class or they can sit in the lobby. There is a inexpensive drink machine and clothing merch in the lobby as well. read more

I went here with a neighbor friend of mine who gets her Kazaxe fix on a weekly basis, and although she gave me an idea of what to expect and I did a bit of online research ahead of time (as all Yelpers do), I truly had no idea of the awesome experience I was in for! My context: I am a fitness semi-fiend, and I am addicted to bootcamp and jogging, so I don't like gyms. I have never before done a Zumba class, so I can't compare Kazaxe to Zumba. I consider myself fairly coordinated and somewhat confident when dancing with friends, but I am definitely not a clubber. I went to the 10:15 AM Sunday class taught by Mimi-Bom, and the class space wasn't as "wall-to-wall" crowded as some other reviewers are reporting the weeknight classes to be, so that makes sense to me since most people will choose to workout on a weeknight after work than on a weekend morning. If you're nervous of crowds or want to have some more of your own space, I would recommend a morning class to begin with. The main instructor is front-and-center on a raised riser stage, and is surrounded by a group of very fit and talented assistants who are useful to keep an eye on if they instructor is either out of your view or you need to check out someone else's style/take on a certain move. The songs will change style and rhythm, and within each song, there will be a semi-regular series/pattern of moves that you will eventually get the hang of, depending on your level of coordination/copy-cat capabilities/athletic or dance skills. You will have a split-second between songs to grab a swig of water, and there is water for sale for 50 cents if you've forgotten your own. The workout is what every other recent review says: high-intensity, non-stop, loud, fun, positively-vibed, diverse in age/ability/etc., and high-energy/enthusiasm! No need AT ALL for anyone to feel self-conscious or like they're looking a fool. Trust me, everyone else is so busy with their own coordination or watching the instructors, and focused on their own workout benefit and calorie-torching that they could not care less about your footing, or if you're taking a bit of a rest. JUST TRY IT! Your first class is free, and subsequent classes are ONLY $5, so what have you got to lose, except for mad amounts of sweat and maybe some weight? read more

I have been going to Kazaxe since it was located in Alexandria (it is now in Springfield). You will no doubt get a great workout, the music is great, and for the most part all of the instructors are pretty good. My only ding is that I sent an e-mail to provide a recommendation for a 6-something class. I'm sorry but for folks like myself who work long days and are up early and have a family, the 5-something and 7-something class is just not convenient. I NEVER received a response or even acknowledgement to my e-mail, which turned me off some. I would recommend adding a 6-something class to appeal to working professionals with families. read more

If you want strength training and a combo of P90X, Brazilian But Lift and INSANITY --their BOOTCAMP classes are the way to go! So all this for only $5 a class, there's just no excuse to not workout. I. AM. ADDICTED. I have always had a love/hate relationship with working out but I think I've finally found my muse. I initially tried Kazaxe after hearing about it years ago from an old coworker. After a google search, I found that it still existed and it was super close to my current job. The first class was free and I've been sold ever since. It's always exciting, never boring, and I always leave drenched in sweat. I feel like this is the 1 hour I get to myself and I'm able to let loose, smile, laugh, and dance it all out. I'm sure all the instructors are great but I am biased towards Tammy, Azuka, and Paige- absolutely love them! A lot of my close childhood friends live in Northern VA/DC now and one of the last times I visited, we decided to get our Saturday morning workout in at Kazaxe. I had heard a lot about it from a friend who goes a lot and oh my goodness, it kicked my butt. For those who love to dance and go hard, this is definitely the class for you! The music is LOUD and the energy is out of control. I don't remember who our instructor was, but she was fantastic! The studio shares the space with a boxing class, I believe, and the place kinda looks dirty, but hey you're gonna be sweating like crazy. First time here by recommendation of a gym buddy. 6$ per session unless you wanna get one of their packages, then the price per session starts going down as the session count goes up. I was surprised at how fast the transaction was, no paperwork of any sort just swiped a card and I was off (under 30 secs). Since I got here relatively late (aka 2 mins before the class start time) this was a pleasant and welcome surprise. The studio room was a very wide open warehouse with a giant stage up front, so you are able to see no matter where you stand or how back you stand unlike typical Zumba classes at the gym. Everyone there was there to have fun, and plenty of people had no clue what they were doing so you don't feel left out or self conscious. The part about not getting breaks isn't exactly true as you technically get about 15 secs while songs change to try and breath :). Taking off a star because the dance room had a very sour almost urine like smell when I first stepped inside, it was pretty faint but definitely there which was a bit unpleasant but I suppose it's normal considering this more or less a warehouse with a million sweaty people jammed in it for a majority of the day. As I started dancing, I didn't notice it anymore. The sound system was very cloud but on the more scratchy end and not very clear, but as far as I'm concerned as long as u can hear the music and feel the base it's all good. TLDR; All in all, will be back. This class puts Zumba classes to shame haha read more

I started going to Azuka when it was Zumba. And it was in the "mirror room". And there were 40 people and I thought it was crowded. It was only 5$ though and I had SO much fun. You're telling me that my lazy ass just exercised for an hour AND I had a 800 calorie burn?! Shut the back door..... Unfortunately, I moved into the city, sold my car, and decided I could no longer attend. I searched far and wide for amazing Zumba classes but nothing ever compared. The other Zumba classes seemed so low intensity and just meh. Fast forward almost 2 years later when I return to Alexandria, the town that once welcomed me into the DC Metro area. I decided to return to Kazaxe. I walked into a class of about 400 people with a stage and lights and a speaker system! I don't care how crowded it gets and how early I have to get there to hoard a space. Hands down. Best.Exercise.Ever. So much fun. The time flies and you FEEEEL it. Take a couple classes (first one is free!) and if you're still not feeling it, go to the basic steps class she has restarted (she used to do them often, now about once every month or two). I just finished my first Kazaxe class, and I'm already hooked! This workout is intense, high-energy, and incredibly fun. A lead instructor and a group of assistants lead the dance class from a stage in a large gymnasium. I noticed that the attendants in the class were diverse - you could see everyone of all different shapes and sizes dancing and having a good time. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is looking for a stress-relieving workout. I'm not the biggest fan of running and yoga is a little too slow - I love the fast-paced, fun nature of Kazaxe. Each class is $5, but your first one is free. It's so worth it, and I can definitely say it's a great workout - already I'm feeling it in my core, back, and arms! read more

I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed this before, BUT YOU NEED TO GO TO THIS CLASS. This class is perfect for everyone from beginner to a workout buff. For an hour, you will sweat profusely to a great mix of world dance beats from songs on the radio to some random song in French. There are dudes and ladies in this class, but mainly ladies. It's a giant community center with a stage in the front where Azuka kills it at dancing as well as the students that know all the moves, or the brave souls that want to be on stage. You dance non-stop for an hour and it's challenging, but you're dancing so it's fun (pain). I've been going most Tuesday's for the past 6 or so months and look forward to it every week. The room is also pretty dark with some club type lights so don't be bashful about others seeing you dance. I'd say there are 50-80 people there and ages of teenagers to older folks. Do your thing. Get there 15-20 min early for a good spot. Bring a big water. Wear clothes you can move in. I've also been to a class on the weekends called ROAR and that class kicked my @ss. That class is more like a HIT (high intensity) circuit class accompanied by music, but I'd say be in relatively good shape to join that one or you're going to be like whhhhy did I do this to myself?! Azuka is a fantastic instructor and even better dancer. It's engaging to watch the crew on stage dance because you have an easy time emulating their moves. And if nothing else, you'll sweat and become a better dancer. Classes are $5-6 per class, I forget which, and if you buy a bundle of classes there is a discount. You get a little card you can put on your keychain and scan in when you get there. Love. Love. Love this class. You will too. read more

I always described this class as zumba on crack. For someone that doesn't have a sense of rhythm, the first class can be intimidating especially if you don't know what to expect. It's fast pace too but they will repeat the moves throughout a song. I quickly realized no one is judging and you can follow at a pace that you feel comfortable with. I see people twice my age and kids half my age following along the best they can. It's definitely a good work out since my thighs and arms feels like jelly the next day or so. Every class have some type of squat and arms routine. My personal cons for Kazaxe are lack of parking and fans (no a.c. in the warehouse), random dripping water from the ceiling (if you're in the back of the room), and sometimes way too much twerking in the routines. read more

Absolutely love kazaxe not only having the freedom to shake my booty but Azuka really brings back my faith in humanity. It's nice to see someone actually helping the community and not taking advantage. She really wants to share kazaxe with the community. Don't take yourself seriously. Ignore everyone around you. And, just go crazy. You'll enjoy Kazaxe. It's a very high energy, and high volume workout in a massive warehouse type space. Earplugs are free at the door. And at only $6/class, you really can't beat that. The instructors and their "gremlins" are extremely high energy. But, no need to be as good as them. All body types and skin colors are welcome. As are all ages. Probably the most diverse exercise class I've ever participated in. Refreshing! read more
