Love this place! Greasy spoon diner that is clean. Lots of blue collar workers on the weekend and weekday, it's in an industrial spot that you wouldn't think gets a lot of traffic but it does. Love bringing my family in here on the weekends when I don't want to make breakfast but want to fill them up so I don't have to make lunch either. Don't expect to find a whole lot of healthy food options, this is comfort breakfast food. Their burgers are pretty darn good too. Can't say for anything else because that's all that I've ordered. We were in the area and we're excited to try Kay's Kafe but we're refused because we had a service dog and she was afraid that other patrons would get up and leave due to a past experience. We asked if there was outdoor seating with no luck. She said we had to have a certificate. I hope they can read up on the federal laws concerning service animals and do better to accommodate those that need and own them. Very disappointing that a business can not be aware and accommodating to all there potential customers. read more

If you're lazy (like me) and don't want to cook breakfast, this is the place for you. They sell the typically breakfast items at very affordable prices. The server was friendly and the food came out fast. My only complaints were the water tasted very off. Could not take more than a sip. I absolutely love going to Kay's the food and service is always amazing. We always get our drinks and food out fast. The servers are constantly asking if we need anything. We don't have to ask for re fills because they are always on it with another cup before we even have a chance to ask for more. They always have a new lunch specials that are always good. I finally got a chance to try this place after having it bookmarked more than a year. I was not disappointed. My only grief was that it was slightly stuffy inside. I'm not sure if they actually have an AC, but it was crowded (always a good indicator of awesome food) and they had a couple of electric fans going. As expected by the crowded dining room, the food was great. I had the chorizo/egg breakfast plate. Good flavor. Sufficient portions. Cozy atmosphere. Waitress was on top of our refills. I would definitely be back, but I'm a little reluctant to try it during the summer months. I'm not sure if this place does to-go orders, but if they do, I would definitely go that route until it cools down. read more

Had a wonderful breakfast here. Waffle combo and chicken fried steak combo. Everything was cooked perfectly, best Belgium waffle I've ever had, crispy on the outside, yet light and fluffy on the inside. Coffee was really good too. Waitress Athena was very attentive and accommodating, owner even stopped by to see how we were doing and to chat for a while. We got a couple tamales to go, can't wait to have them for dinner :) We will definitely be back to try more items. read more

Short review- the area can be intimidating at first, but believe me the flavor is amazing, worth the trip. They have traditional American breakfast food but runs specials on the weekends. I tried their hearty breakfast w/c comes in different meat along with hash and toast. Their flavor is just outstanding, the patty melted with the hashbrown and with an egg on the side- it was just heaven. Portions are huge and price is cheap. Got a hard time finding the place and that was using Google map, when they say it's "tucked in" they really mean it's tucked and hidden. The place caters to the surrounding area and have alot of patrons. What they lack my friendly yelpers are elites coming and representing the area! They have been here for years!Back with the food- Their patty is very juicy and the egg benedict is just out of this world with their flavor. So we have never been here, passed the signs a few times and said let's give it a shot. It's a small cafe type of place. We were immediately greeted by Kristine and seated right away. Our waitress didn't catch her name but she was very nice and attentive, the bussers also were very attentive, our drinks never got low and they constantly checked in on us which was great! While we were waiting on our food the owner John came to our table welcomed us, chatted with us for a few minutes which I thought was really cool. I ordered the chicken fried steak it came with Hash Browns, eggs, and toast. It was very good!! My husband had corn beef, eggs, hashbrowns and toast which he said was good also. My son ordered chicken strips and fries which of course he said was good. My husband was disappointed when he realized they serve Menudo and he was already eating his food, so guess that means we will be back next Saturday because they only serve it on Saturdays red or white. I have to say I absolutely love family owned places opposed to chains so I'm so glad we stopped because we will definitely be back! Stellar customer service and quality food!! read more

Basic diner food, with a south of border feel. Very attentive service; in fact, we had our meal within five minutes of sitting down. Tables, by the way - no booths. Like that a lot. Chorizo omelets, with a choice of toast or flour or corn tortillas. Menudo. Giant pancakes. You get the flavor. On the downside, my wife's pancake came with a dollop of margarine that probably came out of a 1/2 gallon tub of GoldnSoft. She's addicted to real butter. And, her bacon was a little too salty. Don't let the outside fool you. Continue to go inside. Services are great and the food is excellent. I had the hash and eggs. My husband and french toast with all the fixing,do delicious. My grandsons had the Mikey pancakes and the other had tex-pancake. We all enjoyed our breakfast. So they are open only for breakfast and lunch 6 days a week. Closed on Sunday. If you like salt less, bland, food then I guess you've found your place. I ordered a steak and cheese burrito which should be extremely hard to get wrong but this place surprised me and did just that. Every week I take my 83 year old neighbor to run his errands and we go to lunch. Today we went to Kay's Kafe. The moment you walk In you can feel the vibe is different. It has a sense of community. Its family owned and has 3 generations working there. The owner walks around to the tables and greets those he knows, and introduces himself to those he doesn't. My neighbor had a stroke a few years back he orders things he considers "safe" to eat. He worries about making a mess. So he ordered a salad. He's eating it and enjoying it so I ask him if something is wrong with his salad he says no, but I could tell something was off, so i persist he admits he really wanted a burger but didnt want to make a mess, because he says they always put to much on it and it drips, I told him I bet they will make it right. So I order him a burger and tell them EXACTLY how he wants it , and when it came out it was exactly the way he wanted it. His whole face lit up and he said I really needed that i was getting tired of salads, and the burger tasted better than he hoped it would. He has never asked me to return to a restaurant today he asked "can we come back here again" he even took their card in case I couldn't bring him he could take an uber. Having found this place it quickly became a favorite of ours when visiting Phoenix during their business hours. Sad to say that today was our last visit. We really like the food and while sometimes the service is a little slow, it's nothing to get in a twist about. Prices were ok. Today we got our bill and were over charged. Items listed at $11.50 and $10.75 were both charged at $12.50 and the coffee listed at $2.75 was charged at $3.00. I asked our waitress about this and she said something about new menus being made and $1 being added to the price of everything. She asked if I would like to speak to the owner, but he never came over. I asked the lady at check out (owner's wife) and she went into this long explanation about rising costs and that they were not making a new menu because costs were changing weekly so they were just adding $1 to each item. She informed me they had a piece of paper posted and inserts on the menus but she didn't know what happened to those. She further explained she didn't know why the server didn't inform us. I asked if we were expected to pay the higher prices even though it wasn't disclosed to us and she said yes. So, I paid the bill and left Kay's for the last time. If the prices on the menu are not what you charge then you need to be forthcoming. If you can't do that then the prices on the menu should be the prices. Knowingly charging higher prices without telling the customer is deceptive in my book, it signifies your lack of appreciation for your customers, your employees, and your business. read more

Horrible service. I had high hopes for this place and brought 4 students with me to try it as an end of the year breakfast. Service was not very friendly. Our order came out the hash browns were so-so. The Texas blueberry panacake was delicious. Our waitress never asked how the meal was. Our main issue was the way this small business is handling their policies regarding automatic gratuity and not splitting checks. Their menu stated "parties of 6 or more no separate checks". The waitress waited until it was time for us to pay to tell us that the policy "just changed". Fine, I paid the entire check for my students but they added automatic gratuity for having 5 people. The policy was 6 or more. She responds that they've had issues with people not tipping. So, are you assuming I won't? If a policy can change within 40 minutes of customers being seated, it would be good business practice to make them aware. I wanted to like this place but the service ruined it for me. read more
