Im going to be 100% honest; The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is that me, my mom, and stepdad have gotten some sort of stomach bug after eating here several times. We always have the eggs so I'm assuming thats what does it because they are soft boiled. HOWEVER, I absolutely love their food. They've got the ratio of spice to broth perfect in their Tan Tan Ramen! Their pot stickers are amazing and always come out fresh. Ive also had their cucumber salad, which I started making at home because I loved it so much. The food always comes out quickly and the staff is always super nice. My only complaint is that theres only one bathroom and it's also really hot in there sometimes. This is a great location in Cedar Hills with both indoor and outdoor tables for dining. There were parking spaces on a busy Sunday in this area but sometimes it can get a little crazy around here with so many businesses and traffic flow. You order at the counter and get a number and a container filled with chopsticks, forks (if needed) and napkins for dining in. The inside decor was popping with red and cool light designs on the walls. There were only 2 people working there when we went doing their best while still being very friendly and helpful. I used my birthday reward ($15) to get the Spicy Miso ramen with pork, and my hubby got the TanTan Ramen with chicken. Our kids enjoyed the Kids Shoyu ramen with tofu that came with a Japanese strawberry milk candy as a treat. Both ramen were on the saltier side but the spice levels were legit. The soft boiled egg was actually perfect but the potstickers were greasy and were slightly bland. It didn't feel right to me to pay $5 for a taco but I was intrigued by their flavor profiles. Ive been here a few times now, its time to chime in. The first couple of times I got the spicy miso ramen with medium heat. It was the prefect heat level for me. The pork was way better than I expected. Big slices of pork, not the thin fatty pieces im used to getting in many ramen places. Really good. The show stopper for me was the tacos. I had both the Mole and the Chashu tacos with pork. Omg! My only complaint about the Chashu is its not totally soaked in the mala sauce/mayo. Unreal good! The mole tacos are equally as good. They dont look fancy, but the flavor is off the charts. They have not only become a favorite place for ramen, but for tacos. Great attention to detail, and excellent food. This place is small, but the service is quick and highly efficient. The last time we were here, we had to wait 15 minutes for our order to arrive, and the manager in charge gave us a $10 off $30 discount coupon, which I thought was very nice. I love the miso ramen, which has different levels of heat. I like mine hot and not very hot because I don't want to get internal burns. I went with pork, and for my accompaniment, I got fish cakes and spinach. This is one of the few places where I completely finish the bowl because the bra is just so tasty, the noodles are not too thick and perfect for the broth, and the pork is very tender. Very delicious ramen, I got the shio ramen with corn and edamame. The flavor was delicious and very light. Their noodles were also perfectly cooked. There was a wait at the AT&T store, so I walked over to have a snack. Temp was in the 80s, so hot ramen was out, but tacos sounded good. Service was super friendly and helpful. The wait wasn't too long for us as we saw the ramen coming out pretty quickly for people. We ordered the Tan Tan and a Miso ramen. We also ordered a spicy mala taco. May 2, 2025 - a Friday at lunch. Overall, I give it 4/5 stars. Food - They have standard - Shio, Shoyu, and Miso Ramen offerings - which can come with pork, or tofu plus lots of extra vegi options. I liked that they had almost everything in a vegan option. We ordered Spicy Miso with chashu (pork), and Shio with tofu. The Shio flavoring was not what we expected. It's not a traditional Japanese Shio flavor...it was bland and more SE Asian style. The Spicy Miso (Medium), on the other hand, was overpowering, but I was forewarned so I can't really complain. The pork itself was delicious - very tender. In both cases, the serving sizes were a little on the lite side, but you can order extra noodles for a fee. We also got a side order of shitake mushrooms - which were advertised as being wasabi infused, but I couldn't taste the wasabi. I liked the mushroom dish a lot. Service - excellent. The cashier was great. He was very friendly and had spot-on feedback about the entire menu. In my case, I ordered the spicy miso with pork. He waved me off the "super spicy" version, which was fortunate, as the medium had my eyes watering as it was. Ambiance - the restaurant is bright and has big windows facing the kitchen area. The food here at kayos is the main draw for me. Ive been to the Williams st location and its the mothership of ramen goodness. Kayos combines some flavors from all over Asia. The make an amazing mala sauce that goes into their famous mala ramen. They make their own broths, a clear that combines chicken and pork, and a vegan broth that is loaded up with shiitake flavor. If you order it spicy be prepared to eat spicy as they don't pull punches on the spice. A menu sleeper that needs to be discovered are their japon Tacos, crispy bits of chasu pork combined in a high quality corn tortilla topped off with mala sauce mayo is fire! Die die must try!! Save your dollar and just order the miso ramen with medium heat. If you want more toppings, each one costs $1 more. Ramen was 3/5 but the tacos stole the show. Not your typical Japanese ramen but still decent. Spinach as a topping was odd but not bad. Noodles were very good but I think the broth could be better. The chashu pork tacos were 5/5. Will be going back for those. I heard great things about the mole tacos but I didn't personally enjoy them. VEGAN!! I LOVE that most things on the menu are available in a vegan version. I previously had the Vegan Spicy Miso ramen and this time the Vegan Mala (Hot heat level - it's great you can adjust to your preference) ramen. These broths were super flavorful. The chashu tofu is SO GOOD. My husband got the Vegan Shoyu ramen and thought that broth was too light in flavor, but also loved the chashu tofu. He'll probably go for chashu tofu in some Japon Tacos instead the next time. We also got the Kale potstickers for the first time and they were also delicious! Even my skeptical husband (kale?!) enjoyed these! My wishes: That the ramen portions were a little bigger, and that there were more veggies included. Based on my husband's feedback, the flavor of the vegan shoyu broth could also use a boost. My tips: If you're really hungry, definitely go for some potstickers on the side. I haven't tried any dessert yet (next time!). While the ramen was great, the real standout were the tacos ($5 each). We tried the mala tacos with pork and tofu and the tan tan tacos with tofu, all bursting with flavor. The owner, Mikey, even surprised us with his favorite, the mole taco with chasu pork, which was absolutely delicious. He told us it was his take on the classic mole with hints of matcha. I have visited the other Kayo's location in Portland a handful of times before. Upon entry, the layout seems a bit awkward. Very busy, not enough tables. Due to short number of staff, the wait was a bit longer. I got the TanTan ramen. At only after 12, there was sadly no tofu. The ramen was good, but it was just missing something. It wasn't mind blowing, i think tofu instead of meat would've made the experience a lot better for me. It was salty and needs a hint of acidity just to balance it perfectly. Maybe some additional veggie options would be great. The noodles were perfect though and the serving size was very generous. read more
