    Chashu Truffle Shio
    Jessica S.

Of course a day in a huge food cartel, I had to try multiple things! This caught both mine and my boyfriend's eyes as it was a really chilly day. Yes to the ramen! It's located next to the indoor bar and seating area, closer to the restroom side in the BG Food Cartel in Beaverton on SW Rose Biggi Ave. There's a huge parking lot diagonal to the food truck area and street parking around the area. I wanted to try the Poricini Miso as it was a different type of mushroom flavor I've NEVER heard of and was super intrigued with. But unfortunately, they didn't have that flavor the day we went. SAAAD. Instead, my boyfriend and I decided on the Chashu Truffle Shio. And WOW! The flavor was DELICIOUS! I loooove truffle things and this definitely was one of them! The bowl of ramen looked super mediocre and unassuming (peep at pic) but this was the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover". The truffle flavor in the broth was really rich and hearty. It was on the salty side (because shio, ya know) but had a good balance. I couldn't get over how crazy good the broth was. One of my friends got the Regular with Egg Truffle Shoyu. Hers was a lot more umami flavored because of the shoyu. It gave a deeper truffle flavor compared to the shio (in my opinion) which I LOVED. ugh. How were both of these so good?! Even though the noodles and eggs were mediocre, the truffle flavor really enhanced the experience! Such an amazing deep, rich flavor! Definitely will be getting ramen the next time! For the price and quality of the ramen, I really enjoyed it! Super unique flavors that I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else.

The ramen noodles were over cooked and the soup was not great either. Love the eggs but that's about it....

The service was quick. We enjoyed the vegetables in the veggie and egg ramen, but we found the broth to be a bit lacking in depth.

Overall: Good location, good prices, good service. Atmosphere: This food truck is located in the BG Food Cartel in the Cedar Hills area. Food (2/5): I've had some delicious Ramen and this just wasn't it. I am disappointed because I had high hope for this place. The price is very reasonable which is great but the flavors didn't deliver. I had the Tokyo Shoyu Deluxe and the broth was bland, the noodles were bland, the greens were bland, the pork was all bland. I don't know if the other broths might be more flavorful but the Tokyo Shoyu was not it. Service (5/5): The lady who took my order was great! She was friendly, nice, smiley and had an overall great attitude.

Came by for dinner with friends. I got the combination pork mazesoba. It was pretty tasty. The flavors were all good. I felt like everything was well-priced. I do wish there was maybe just a tad bit more spinach and scallions, but that's a personal preference. I would totally come back some time!

Sake kasu miso ramen - deluxe

I was so happy and surprised to discover that not only does BGs Food Cartel have a ramen cart, but that it is run by Toshi-san of the former Sushi PDX cart in Southeast Portland! I used to go see Toshi for sushi every week, so I knew his ramen would have to be good too - and it was. At Magokoro Ramen, there are basically three options for your soup: - Tokyo shoyu (soy sauce base) - Yuzu shio (salt and Yuzu base) - Sake kasu miso (miso with sake kasu, which is like a fermented rice bran that adds extra umami flavor) You can get the basic version or the deluxe, which comes with egg and slices of pork chashu. I tried the miso broth, which was a proper, traditional miso ramen broth. No funny fusion business here! Just delicious, rich, slightly garlicky miso ramen. The egg was a perfect medium, with a slightly runny yolk. The noodles are slightly wavy, standard ramen noodles. Everything is served in a to-go bowl which is perfectly sized for the ramen. The best part - like any good ramen place, our food was ready in 5 minutes (because that's all it takes to make noodles). I'll definitely be back to try the shoyu and the Yuzu shio!

    Classic with shoyu broth

An Arctic blast in April with a cold breeze made it a perfect day for ramen. The menu at Magokoro has a variety. Tried the classic with shoyu. Served hot with two slices of chasu pork, bamboo shoots, sliced bok Choy, soft egg. The noodles were chewy but didn't pair well with the broth. All the ingredients for a good bowl of ramen were there but something was lacking. Chasu portion was smaller also. At $13 it's a great option but could use a larger portion of noodles. Broth favor was ok. It holds up against other shops in Beaverton including Afuri, Ramen Ryoma, Kizuki.

Super fun location with many options! Not busy, very friendly and amazingly flavorful ramen. The broth was rich and the chicken delicate..

I was stuffed from the other options around this food truck, but I couldn't pass up trying a ramen food truck. This place did not disappoint. Since I already ate, I just wanted to order a bowl of just noodles and broth. The Shio Truffle Ramen was amazing. The flavor of the truffle oil taste great and the noodles had the PERFECT consistency, soft but firm! The prices ate great and the workers all had great vibes! Definitely a great stop to check out!

Wow what a surprise. When I look at the pictures and saw the cart I was not totally impressed. How often does the actual food look twice as good as the pictures posted right. Well I assure you it is. I was blown away by the quality of the broth, the noodles and the vegetables the way the chef prepared them. It ranks up there with any of the top notch sit down ramen places and that too surprised me. There is a gamut of specialty broths that are not normally found in other ramen restaurants. They definitely know what they are doing. Can't wait to try the other varieties. Will post pictures next time. I took one bite and it was so good by the time I was finished it dawned on me I never took a pic.

@ramenrob with the win! Thanks for the tip. We've come to the BG Food Cartel many times and somehow overlooked this very unassuming cart. Don't make the same mistake we did! The TanTan is TENTEN! We will definitely be back!

Caught this cart opening just after 5pm on Friday and so glad I did! The menu is simple and sweet while the flavors offer complexity and depth. You order the base (shoyu, shio, or miso- starting at $6) and then have options of topping combos from $2-$5. If you don't want the combo of toppings you can order them individually too. The price is very reasonable as is it the same or cheaper than ramen retail locations, without skimping out on the quality. I got the yuzu pepper shio ramen with regular toppings and the ramen came out very fast. The broth itself was refreshing and a clean aftertaste, with a kick from the pepper. A really light broth that was perfect with the cooling summer weather. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the chashu was small but thick slices. The amount of toppings balanced out with the noodles. It wasn't too heavy and really satisfying. The employees, two in the cart were very nice and friendly. The male employee who is the owner and cook is great, he hopes to open a retail location in the future and the female employee who took my order and was the cashier was friendly and gave great suggestions! I believe this cart is open in the evenings on the weekend and it's one you don't want to miss

The lady who took our order was attentive and quick. The kitchen people carefully brought the food, and attitude was polite. I wasn't sure whether hot tea would be an extra cost and got ice water. Portion was normal, tons of vegetables and FOUR slices of chashu meat, which I was already amazed. Soup was thick but not salty at all. Aji tama was perfect. The price is reasonable ($12 per bowl, no matter what favors of soup bases). The front line people always made sure to keep the bar table clean. It really reminds me of family own ramen shops in Japan. Thanks for the delicious food. We want to come back again for different spicy levels of ramen, as well as the appetizers.

A Ramen Masterclass in Beaverton! If you are looking for…read morethat perfect, soul-warming bowl of noodles, Koku Ramen & Bites in Beaverton is an absolute gem. It's located in the Timberland Town Center and manages to perfectly balance a modern, trendy vibe with authentic, traditional flavors. Here is why it's a 5-star standout for me: The Broth (The Soul of the Bowl): I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, and the broth was incredible--creamy, rich, and clearly simmered for hours. It has that deep, milky consistency that only comes from true craft. If you like heat, the Spicy Miso has a perfect, layered kick that doesn't just overpower your taste buds. The Noodles: They get the texture exactly right. You can choose your firmness, and they have that perfect "chew" that holds onto the broth beautifully. The "Bites": True to their name, the appetizers (bites) are not to be skipped. The Pork Gyoza are perfectly seared, but the Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken) is the real winner--juicy on the inside and impossibly crunchy on the outside. The Chashu: The braised pork belly is melt-in-your-mouth tender. They give it a quick torch sear before serving, which adds a beautiful smoky aroma to the whole bowl. The Vibe: The restaurant is clean, sleek, and has a great energy. The staff is welcoming and incredibly fast, making it a perfect spot for a quick lunch or a cozy dinner. Pro Tip: Don't forget to add a Marinated Soft-Boiled Egg (Ajitama). They cook them to perfection here with that jammy, custard-like yolk that takes the ramen to the next level. Beaverton has a lot of food options, but Koku is easily at the top of my list for comfort food. I'll be back again and again!
