However they were able to take me in that day too. It's not a swanky place, for the price point the massage is very good. The bed I lied down on was a little run down, it was dipped in the mid section and was a bit uncomfortable at first. This place is for those of us who need an elbow to dig into the knots in our shoulders and strong hands to activate and soothe nerves in our feet. We have been looking for a new place for reflexology and clothed massages for a year. (You can look through my profile to see why we no longer go to an establishment in VH.) This might be our new go-to. For $39 you get an hour on a table, fully clothed, in a communal, dimly lit room. Half of the time is spent with reflexology on the feet and the rest of the time is on the rest of the body. You can ask for a softer touch, but my husband and I were looking for a place that knows how to use strong pressure. It was clean, and it appeared each client had fresh towels. I opted for the $39 for 60 mins and then extra $5 for hot stone. It wasn't too busy definitely a great experience. The lady that gave me a massage actually did a pretty good job. My first time at Kay foot spa, I entered the front of building from the parking lot in the back. I sat and waited a few minutes for my appointment. I was ushered in to the area where I would be getting my massage . I laid down on my back and my eyes were covered by a wash cloth that was semi dry but felt like my masseuse dried his hands on it . There were parts that were wet. As I laid there I listened to the music they had which was loud and felt as if I were directly under the speaker , didn't find it very relaxing . The temperature of the room was very cold , so the blanket they provide you was very welcoming. It had some weight to it which I enjoyed, the warmth and the heaviness felt comforting. Now if I could only ask them to turn the music down a few decibels. And thought of it but there were other guests in there and seriously thought of putting in my earbuds to buffer the sound of the music. My massage started feet first . He did an awesome job on my heels, lots of pressure which I love especially on my heels. I brought some cbd thc lotion for my massage and asked for the areas where I have pain to administer the lotion, it's very expensive and I use it sparingly. However he just used it mostly all over. The massage was ok, great job on my heels, lots of pressure . My ankles and feet felt great . When I turned over on my stomach they usually make sure they have a blanket or towel under your calves . Nothing but the cold vinyl/ leather . Not sure how sanitary that is. Skipped my head completely . I'm kinda of bummed at this experience. When the massage was over. He just kinda ripped the blanket off to let me know it was finished. Brrr still chilly in here. I understand they are busy but at least let a girl know. So I sat up to get going and he's literally pulling the blanket out from underneath me. I usually tip 15 to 20 but I dropped it to 10 after pulling the blanket out well I'm sitting up and getting ready to leave. I'm disappointed in service and hoping I would have enjoyed it especially since it's super close. I travel for good food and definitely travel for good massage. I love a good foot spa. I think the $35 combo special is a deal. A client has to understand what they are getting into. This is not a resort spa - for $35 you have a little sectioned off area for yourself and the person giving your massage but yes you do hear other people and yes the massage facility is small, but for $35 they do a good job. They try to cover the sounds with the music. The people giving the massages work very hard, for the most part, and the tips are an important source of their income. Overall, when I've gone to places like this, I've had positive experiences. Some people give better massages than others but I have never had a terrible massage. A similar massage at a spa like place would cost at least $60 or more. I definitely notice my body going through a healing process after one of these massages. I'm grateful for the price value and make up for it in my tip as long as the person isn't rude. To those who found people rude: There is also the importance of understanding cultural differences, which I can speak to because of my family background. Chinese, on the whole, are hardworking people and very warm when they know you, but may seem very formal, silent, or distinct with strangers who are not in their inner circle. Americans can seem very loud and intimidatingly social with strangers by comparison. It's just a cultural difference. Also men and women typically don't touch each other much if they aren't related or dating, so a male employee may seem a bit aloof with a female client simply because this may very different from how men and women interacted in China. America has different social norms. It takes adjusting. The people working at the foot spa are human beings and I'm sure most of them are doing their best. Of course some people may have been rude or are rude and that's no excuse but sometimes I've witnessed interactions at some foot spas (not this one) that people born in America interpreted as "rude" but it was just them misinterpreting the different way some Chinese immigrants interact with strangers and they didn't intend to give that impression. It's hard when you can't speak the same language as your client. Just some food for thought, because it makes me sad when I've seen these needless misunderstandings. For a good foot spa experience, don't be loud when you come in, if you have any problem or sensitive areas let the front desk know so they can clearly communicate with the person who will service you, smile and have a pleasant disposition because they have a very physically demanding job and they are hopefully going to do their best for you. If they feel they did, tip well. This kind of massage is very common in China. It's not a luxury thing but a health aid, so it's not about indulgence so much, the way we may view it here. After your massage drink warm water to help your body flush toxins and I'm sure you'll have had a good experience. I wish Kay's Spa every success. read more

I have been to Kay Foot Spa two times now. The first time I got the Kay Special for $35 which is a 30 minute foot massage and 30 minutes of head, neck, shoulder, and back massage. I thought the massage was alright, but found the ambience lacking as it is an open space with no rooms so you hear every phone call, every person that comes in, every conversation, etc. The second time I went for the $60 Deep Tissue massage for 60 minutes. I was extremely disappointed with this one. The gentleman who gave me the massage never asked why I came in or what level of pressure I wanted. His level of pressure was way too hard. It actually hurt but I decided not to say anything as I thought perhaps if it was hard that perhaps it would really help things (no pain, no gain). I suffered through it but I regret not stopping him as I now have soreness and my back is covered in bruises. I am very disappointed that he never said anything while I was grunting in pain or decided to stop after seeing the damage being done to my back. If I wasn't self conscious about my body, I would post a picture of my back so you could see what you are in for if you get this massage here. read more

Horrible place. Read all the 5 start rating so decided to go there. To find out it is the worst place to go. Me and a friend went in for massage and as normal place to get full body massage you can take your shirt off but they didn't like that so they want us to wear the shirt. Ok so far it's about a 3.5 star review. I had the Kay special (great value! You get a 30 min foot massage and a 30 min back/arm/leg massage, fully clothed). I agree with the previous reviews stating that the music is too loud. They have this very annoying repetitive music that was jarring and made relaxing very hard. I made a mental note to bring my earbuds with my own music next time. The foot massage was great!!! I will definitely be back for this part. The back massage was lacking. The pressure was too rough, and the lady kept massaging my spine... Ok, you're not supposed to put pressure on the actual spine during massage. I had this issue in a different Chinese massage place, idk if this is how they are taught but it's dangerous to do that, never mind how uncomfortable it is. I never tried the clothes off option, but I'm concerned with the temperature in the place (cold) and the lack of privacy... So I'm not sure I will come back for a regular massage. I was very excited to try out this new business in my neighborhood! I patronized a similar space when I lived in Nashville and hoped that this lived up to the experience. And mostly it did! A few things to note: if you're looking for spa ambiance, this is probably not your place. They front right onto Waukegan without any parking lot or space to buffer the sound and the street noise carries in. The decor is sparse, but the equipment is new and everything is very clean. If you're doing the Kay Special or another package where it's foot + body, you're in the front room and you're fully clothed. You start out on your back, they do a little bit of upper body, then your feet, then you turn over and it's a normal table massage (again, fully clothed). For the deep tissue massages, you're in a curtained off room in back. The value and quality were both fantastic and I look forward to coming back soon! read more

when we walked in there looked very un calming and people talking everywhere, phone calls being taken loudly. While my massage the massagers were talking to each other in their language. After my massage when checking out the lady at the front desk was watching how much I was going to tip while I was writing the tip in she proceeded to ask if the tip was for one person or for both, when I stated for one she looked at me and showed me her reccomended tips. She kept watching me finish the tip and made me feel very uncomfortable. Do not recommend this place what so ever. Also dosent look so pleasant. There is ants on the floor and very unsanitary. Usually when the cold weather hits, my body gets super sore from the temperature. The worst hit is always my muscles. Thankfully Kay Foot Spa is right on my way home from work. Last week I got the chance to enjoy their clean atmosphere and spotless spa. I got the Kay special done by Lora. The massage was just what I needed to end my work week and destress me before my weekend. I know for a fact that I'll be coming back again! A side note, if you're the kind of person who needs perfect silence during your massage experience, this is probably not for you since the shop is right on Waukegan. I asked the man to be gentle. He didn't understand me so I told the man at the front desk who translated. The problem was the pressure was too hard. I wanted relaxation. I had to try to tell him twice to be gentle. I just don't know that he knew how to give a massage without a lot of pressure. He also was not graceful with his moves. I've tried this place a few times and I have had one good person. I now have soreness that I was not looking for. Surprisingly this use to be my ALL time favorite massage parlor. However, things has changed over the corpse of 2 years. When Kay Foot Spa didn't have much customers they would be so friendly and have appointments lined up. Now they are so forceful and just give you a appointment so I guess their money could be secured, but you could be waiting for 15-30 minutes until someone massage is over. The massages I would rate 3 stars. It could be a lot better but I must say the hot rocks is one of the main +. It's a smaller parlor so you can hear people coming in and out talking and what makes it worst they have a window chimes so you hear that as well WHILE trying to relax. After the massage is over, they force you to leave a tip. I'm a nice tipper however once they started trying to force their hand.. I started leaving tips as low as $3-$5. Professional is really big to me and they lack that A LOT. They are so impatient, forceful, and unprofessional. I will no longer be allowing them to service me NOR obtain extra money from me. Really 3.5 stars. Nice to have this in Deerfield. Clearly, it's on Waukegan Road, so don't go in expecting silence. I think this is a given at any local foot spa. They have long hours, and it's very clean. I did not have an appointment, but they said they could take me when I walked in. The massage was good, and I was thinking I'd return. Things annoyed me a lot toward the end. A large party walked in and must have had appointments. My massage suddenly got faster and rougher and my arms and hands were skipped.
