There were definitely some pros and cons to Joy Foot Spa. I was up the fence on whether giving them 3 or 4 stars because im really stuck at 3.5. Pros: - Peter was my masseuse and he was great. I purchased a Groupon for a 60 minute foot massage and I was upsold by the lady at the front desk to pay an extra $10 to upgrade to 30 min foot massage and 30 minute upper body massage. It was a good decision because all parts of me needed some TLC. Peter made sure that I was okay with the pressure he was using. It was very relaxing and a much needed massage. Peter was great and he deserves 4 stars. Cons: - The masaage parlor is set up where there are about 10 massage beds in the back. I guess if you purchased a "combo massage" that's when you get a private room as you need to undress. I was not aware. I was fine with the "public" massage as they kept the room dim and quiet with spa music playing in the background. - What I did not like was the lady at the front was too loud when she kept letting new customers in the back to get their massages. She was not using her inside voice and had the heaviest of footsteps. She really disrupted the serenity of the parlor and woke me up a couple times from my light sleep during my massage. I wish they had a better system of keeping quiet or a better way to let people in the back room. Would I come back again? Maybe. I may try a couple other parlors first and see how those go. read more

Joy Foot Spa - Massage Near Me - Lake Forest, Illinois

Pros: Great massages at reasonable prices. Cons: The place smells VERY musty and feels humid which makes it feel dirty. They desperately need a few dehumidifiers. The man working the reception desk - coughing and hacking away is very distracting and not relaxing. Maybe step outside to do that?? read more

Love this spot. Seriously. Joy Foot Spa is one of those places where you walk in and instantly feel more relaxed. It's clean, calm, and just has a really good vibe. Every time I go, the experience is consistently great. Mark, the owner, is awesome. You can tell he genuinely cares about the business and the people who come in. It doesn't feel corporate or transactional. It feels personal, and that makes a big difference. And Jenny is the best. She's my go to every time. Strong hands, super intuitive, and she somehow always finds the exact spots that need work. I walk in tight and stressed, and leave feeling completely reset. If you're looking for a solid, reliable place with people who actually care, Joy Foot Spa is it. Definitely ask for Jenny. I'll absolutely be back. read more

Had an amazing full body massage. Did an amazing job with all my aches and pains. So relaxing and the staff is very friendly.

my wife and I love to come here. we have tried other spa locations, but this place has always been consistent.

Make sure you don't forget your wallet because they will shame you if you don't leave a tip. If tips are being solicited, add them to the final cost. Many spas have additional fees to cover the tip but don't try to shame me in front of everyone for not leaving a tip. I definitely won't come back! read more

Joy Foot Spa - Massage Near Me - Lake Forest, Illinois

this place is amazing!!! every massage I've had there is fantastic. It's clean, calm, and so accessible! An absolute hidden treasure!

I love a good deep tissue massage and this place did not disappoint. I am a runner and as a runner, i get a lot of aches and pains. I've been here 3 times and each time I've came with different aches and every single time they get rid of the knots and those pesky aches without me telling them. This is a very typical Asian massage place so don't expect a high end place with robes and all. Do expect them to, at some point, hop on top of the massage table and use their elbows and forearms for the massage. I really enjoy these massages and body does too! read more

I randomly googled and found this gem! To my surprise, they had a Groupon good for a 1 hour foot massage, so I decided to roll the dice and go! I went to Peter and he proceeded to give me the BEST FOOT MASSAGE I have ever had in my life!! My feet felt like pillowy clouds afterwards. I highly recommend this place! You won't be disappointed! read more

I thought I had left a review, but I do not see it here. Perhaps it was deleted -(or blocked from posting?). I would love to tell any and all potential customers out there every gruesome detail that still replays in my head (like it was yesterday) at any time I am reminded of this place (I only was reminded today when I was online searching for a masseuse). So maybe the best thing I can do to avoid any sort of legal threat or trigger some algorithm that might block my review, is just say this: "If you planned to disrobe for a massage, run the other way, friend. Do not look back. Do not go there, even with a gift certificate in hand." My eyes are welling up typing only these words and restraining myself from releasing the avalanche of truths behind this. I noticed that the reply they put up to a negative post was duplicated. Not a misprint. Not, oops, we put that up twice by mistake. Oh no. Every word was identical, but they posted it twice with two different dates. If one reads the phrasing carefully, by the way, it becomes apparent it is a constructed "positive" review. No one writes like that except for money or as a favor. Nope. Save yourself. DO NOT WALK IN THAT DOOR. read more

Horrible, horrible horrible. I received a full body massage from my daughter as a gift, and when I really needed one, went here (recently) to hopefully receive some relief from stress and body aches. They have you in a large room (no one else was there, though), and have you lie down and put your feet in a bucket of warm water. Just laying like that--flat on my back with my feet down to the floor--made my lower back ache horribly. I asked the woman to focus on my shoulders and neck, but she said they did the full body massage only one way, and would only do as much as they normally do for those areas. Then, near the end, she started literally pounding on my back violently with her fists (and believe me, I usually like deep tissue massages, but this wasn't it...), and then when she was done, she kept nudging me to get up and out--"Done!" "Done!". I was so upset, and left there with a headache. So much for my daughter's gift and my stress relief. I will never go here again, nor will I ever purchase a gift certificate for anyone. There are too many other good places with much better service. Had to give it a star, but I don't think it even deserves that. read more

I love this place. They are great. They try their best and can get a little over zealous . But will ask you if everything is okay. They used a lavender lotion that was oh so fragrant . I wish I could just stay and nap when I'm finished but my snoring may scare away the customers. For the price I have had 2 hours when I feel in need of it. Highly recommend it. Don't forget to leave a decent tip they deserve it!! Just came in again. Wow ask for Linda ! I just had one of the most amazing massages in my life. That's included in my 4 hour Thai massage. Really conscious and asks how the pressure is. She is incredible. One thing that would be good is if that guy wouldn't talk so loudly in the front that checks you in. read more

I took a day off and decided to get a foot massage, their staffs are really friendly , I felt refreshed after one hour feet and body reflexology, definitely going back and highly recommended! read more

I come in whenever my neck becomes relentlessly stiff and sore. It is bare minimum, no-frills, EFFECTIVE massage. I always get the Combo (30 min reflexology, 30 min table massage) and I always leave feeling better. If you want your neck to feel better, then come here. If you want a day spa experience, then keep looking. read more

One of the best massages I have had. Came here for the first time since saw lot of good reviews on Groupon. And people where right about this place. Helen did my massage and she was perfect. Would definitely recommend this place to friends. If you come in then ask for Helen she does know how to do the massage. Did one hour one but next time will do the 2 hour one with her. The only thing I didn't like is there are no kurtens. So you are in the open so no privacy. I was the last one they took so it was ok. Plus she spoke English which was surprising, since most Asian massage places don't have people that don't speak English. Definitely worth the money. read more

Joy Foot Spa is hidden gem in Lake Forest and I recommend it! The staff are professional and friendly. I often go for 30 minutes of reflexology and 30 minutes of massage. It's heaven! I have increased my reflexology appointments to 60 minutes and have experienced positive benefits. It's very relaxing, healing, and my feet are warm for days! I appreciate this during the winter months. My daughter calls for last minute appointments and they have been able to accommodate her. I often purchase packages which is cost effective and always look forward to my next visit! read more

4.1.19 Came here this Monday! It was terrible! I wouldn't even give a star! I paid $50 for the combination massage which included feet, legs, & back. That's all. I guess I didn't really read what it comes with the combo. But the lady who was massaging me was so terrible! She didn't know what she was doing. I have had so many massages in my life this was one of the worst! DO NOT GO HERE! YOU WILL JUST WASTE YOUR MONEY! I had a bad experience. If you do, go at your own risk! I wouldn't come back here anymore! They just lost a customer! read more

Extraordinarily nice people, great massages on a consistent basis and you can't beat the price. The spa is not particularly luxurious in its surroundings but that's ok- these people know what they are doing. Highly recommend. read more

Excellent massage. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and severe arthritis on my neck that I've been for over three months now. Finally, after my first and second massage from Jenny and Leo, my pain went down drastically. They really worked on my problem areas (arm, shoulders, neck, and back). I've been looking for this kind of massage for years in Illinois. It's the best I've ever had. Thank you Jenny and Leo. I owe this pain relief from both of you. I will be back regularly for sure. read more

Had a wonderful Chinese style massage here. Came here with a friend after a very tough workout. It was the perfect way to counter muscle soreness! We both opted for the hour long foot massage which is really 30 minutes on feet, 15 minutes on body and 15 on scalp. The masseuse kept checking to see how the pressure was - it was spot on! The overall experience was very relaxing. The room is dimly lit with light music playing. It was very clean and well maintained. This will definitely be part of my post-workout recovery! read more

I had the $30 special which is 30 minutes on your feet, a scalp and shoulder/neck massage. It is very clean there. It was good, and I would definitely go to Joy Foot Spa again. read more

Always accommodating to fit me in for a massage. Everyone is very respectful and attentive to your needs. If you truly let the masseur work their magic, you will notice they are very attuned to your stiff areas and work diligently to relieve you of your discomfort. An added courtesy in every massage I've had at Joy is the masseur asking if everything is well during the massage itself. Highly recommend & will continue to frequent. If you weren't satisfied with your massage (ie. the ratings below), perhaps request a different pressure or raise awareness to your sensitive areas. Be proactive in your overall experience instead of leaving a harsh review. There is a consistent, meaningful method to their massage approach (using quantum physics & meridian pathways) and reasons for the 'pounding' as the final breakup of stiff body matter. The ambiance and effectiveness of a massage is most effective when you focus internally and truly feel/absorb the power of the human touch while blocking out external distractions. read more

I used to go here weekly, sadly it has really gone down hill and is dirty and stinky. The place is littered with air freshners and they burn incense to make the smell of B.O. I got an eye infection from the older male man who had long nails and kept jabbing my face and eyes with his sharp long nails. I told the man and he didn't speak English, called the owner and he just let it pass by as though he didn't understand what I said. I was a REALLY REALLY good customer here and even let the bad smell go and the awful incense but truth by told, I got an eye infection the day after being here and the man was truly jabbing my face and had long nails. Ugh!! I really liked this place, when it was all over with I even told the owner "no good" and he just said "ok". I can't recommend this place again and threw my remaining credit from the pre-pay cards into the garbage. I don't wish an eye infection like I got on anyone. They do not launder the towels after used and just remake the massage bed with the same stuff and I have watched this over and over again and was a dummy for continuing to go there, so lesson learned on my part. Sadly I brought so many friends here over time and was a regular but they totally have gone down hill and it's not a good place. The smell is the worst part. read more

The total relaxation I was looking for! All the tension was gone with an amazing pressure message and relaxing aroma therapy and traditional Chinese meditation music. Unbelievable price for the experience and muscle tension relief!! read more

I bought the reflexology package from Groupon and it was a great deal. The issue was that this place didn't know what reflexology was, so instead they just gave me a foot massage. For the price, the massage was great. I would get another foot (only) massage here, but if you want reflexology, this is not the place. read more

Best massage I've ever gotten, I was very pleased. The service was phenomenal and It was the best massage I've ever gotten.

I have been here before and would have given it 4 stars. Now, after today, I am generous with 2 stars. When I say your hurting me, it means I am in pain and you should stop or lighten up the pressure. When you tell me to just relax and I say I can't because it hurts so bad, you should get the idea that I am very uncomfortable. When I physically have to grab your hand and say STOP, you still did not get it. I have never left any type of body treatment hurting all over. Never again. In fear that I would have that person work on me, I won't be back. read more

Beware! While my first reflexology massage was wonderful, on my second appointment, their front desk person upsold me on a higher level package and didn't tell me it was not part of the Groupon special. Several people don't understand English well, and don't communicate clearly. The foot massage was fine, but the back massage was too rough, and I kept asking to please not push down so hard. When I showed the Groupon coupon, I was suddenly informed that the Groupon coupon was not valid. I won't be returning. read more

What a great massage experience for the money. There are a few low massage tables/platforms in the rooms, so you are not in a private room. You keep all your clothing on except for shoes and socks, so wear something comfy and not too bulky. They do a short foot bath then a nice reflexology foot massage followed by a vigorous arms/legs/back massage. It was a great fast massage experience. read more

What a great find on the north shore. Massage for $25 1 hour. I will take it! Here with my 10yo son waiting our turn . I was in China before and this is exactly how they do massage there. There are several massage table side by side, no walls in between. You might not like the concept. I don't mind . They deep your feet in warm water and start by our feet. You keep clothes on. They have great skills. read more

Hands down, best massage and reflexology. They are wonderful and amazing at what they do. Would recommend to all!

Very bad experience on all spectrums of what you would want and what was not provided. Stay far away!!

I just came back from the combo 30 minute reflexology and 30 minute massage. It was outstanding and reasonably priced. I bought the package of three. It is a wonderful combination with oil, hot stones and deep tissue massage, especially on the neck. The massage table was very comfortable. My entire back including my arms and neck feel completely relaxed and I can get back to my tasks at hand. It was a special treat. I will give these massages as gifts for the holidays! read more
