I appreciate how promptly they responded to all of my inquiries. It meant a lot to me that they would take the time to understand my vision for the event. I am particularly grateful to Alvaro, who was incredibly accommodating throughout the event. From the very first phone call his kindness and professionalism really stood out. As the time for the party was approaching I became anxious when most of the guest were running late due to the NYC Marathon happening the same day. I was worried that the late arrivals would throw off the vibe of the party. When I was anxious to inform the band of the tardiness they met my anxiety with gentle understanding and were so flexible, adjusting their schedule to make sure everyone had a chance to enjoy their performance. Their willingness to adapt made such a difference, turning what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth and enjoyable experience. They showed up at the most perfect time, dressed impeccably, bringing incredible energy that transformed the atmosphere. As soon as they started playing, I was genuinely moved, I felt so proud of my roots. The band consists of talented musicians who were not only skilled at their instruments but also bring an incredible stage presence. They interacted with the crowd beautifully. Taking song requests and even translated some of their lyrics into English so everyone could feel included. They were perfect. My friends are still raving about their performances, many said it was the best entertainment they'd seen at a party. A week later and I am still getting messages about how much fun everyone had and how great the band was. They made my birthday unforgettable, and I can't wait to book them for future celebrations. Thank you Mariachi NYC

I'm so glad I reached out to Andrew (A Piano Grows in Brooklyn) for piano instruction. He's an…read moreexcellent teacher and very effective at teaching the piano. Andrew's a good listener, so he knows how to tailor the instruction to the particular student, based on whatever the student's needs, wants, or problem areas may be. And he's a really talented musician and pianist, of course. --Perhaps that is to be expected. But Andrew is equally as great a teacher, because he always calmly and succinctly conveys the concept or technique that he's teaching in a way that the student understands--without feeling judged or put down at all. To the contrary, he's an extremely kind and patient person. And for me, those are really essential traits when learning music, and they enhance his effectiveness as a teacher. (And yes, he also has an amazing ear. After listening to a recording of a song for only the briefest of moments, Andrew immediately knows what key it's in and can start translating the piece for piano without hesitation, identifying each key/chord that's being played. --Clearly, a skill honed over the long term, yet no less impressive to witness.) Starting beginner piano lessons as an adult in my mid-30's, I of course had some baggage: ('Is my brain still capable of learning an instrument at this age?', etc..). But I see now that, yes, it is most certainly capable. I've been taking lessons with Andrew for a few months now, and I can already play entire songs that I never thought I'd be playing this soon into the process. Andrew has an optimism that any person can learn to play, regardless of age--but it's an optimism borne of the reality that he's been successfully teaching both children and adults to play the piano for years. The proof is there. And this has in turn helped me to become more optimistic about my own chances of learning the piano, as I have come to realize that this is something I'm perfectly capable of doing too. ...So, I am indeed doing it. --And for this new education, I have Andrew to thank. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone who's interested in learning how to play the piano.
