Michael is very prepared for his lessons, and he's generous to his students. When I first started taking lessons he let me use his own i-pod recorder plugin until I got my own. Going beyond the role of teacher, he is also a great mentor. His knowledge of both theatre and music is evident in his song suggestions, guiding his students on appropriate repertoire choices. Highly recommended.

Katie Robertson is the ONLY one who has been able to quickly, precisely and effectively stop my bad habits in their tracks! For years I've known I was doing certain things poorly, but no matter how much I protested the teachers I had couldn't see what I might be doing wrong. Just watching me sing Katie could point immediately to the problems and knew at least 3 different ways to fix each of them right off the bat. Katie also understands the value of her students' opinions, thoughts and experiences; she's a great listener and works very well with actors and singers alike to ensure our safety, comfort and success. Not to mention, she's a great rep coach! She can tell just by looking at a piece whether or not it's right for me, as an actor as well as a vocal student. I'm performing great music I've avoided for years because I just couldn't do them before! I am SUPER proud of my voice since I started with her, and SUPER relieved! I would recommend anyone, no matter where you are in your process, to invest in your voice by studying with a professional like Katie Robertson.

Annie is a truly gifted teacher. Annie hears even a beginner with a very loving ear. She always sincerely finds something nice to say first. She has a special ability to appreciate how hard a cellist is working, and to inspire. Her lessons are fun, and for younger students, filled with games and tricks. My daughter sounds great, and has become self-motivated and independent through Annie's guidance. A friend took lessons with Annie before applying to conservatory, and said he had never been more productive than when he was working with her. Annie will teach in both Suzuki style, or with traditional methods. She had the rare gift of working fantastically with babies to adults, and from beginner to conservatory level musicians. Her location is a few blocks from the Yankee Stadium stop. My daughter loves Annie so much that at first we were first driving from NJ, and now we take the subway from Brooklyn. P.S. Annie is now in PA - look for her there.
