Small but efficient.

My son gets guitar lessons here weekly and really likes his instructor. The staff is great and very accommodating. I mentioned when I called to set up my son's initial visit that he loses interest quickly so he needs an instructor that is fun and can keep him interested. The guy on the phone said he knew just the right person and paired my son perfectly with right instructor. The place is small but efficient with several instruction rooms on the first floor and I know there is a basement but not sure if there are also rooms down there. The prices are great. $125 for four 30 minute lessons and you are on an auto payment so there's nothing to do but get your kid there. I bring my son (who's 16) and I sit in the car and wait because the place can get pretty packed. They are always on time so you don't have to worry about waiting longer than 30-40 minutes. They also have instruments available for instruction incase you don't want to invest until you are certain your child is going to continue playing.

Got tired of looking at my Gibson LPs and decided to start learning to play them...

Real Brave Audio keeps the five yelp stars for the month of January, 2016 because I'm enjoying the classes. My instructor (who will be named in future updates) is very patient and does keep the 30 minute class moving. The finger and chords exercises are fun to play along to actual songs (Green Day's Good Riddance). Looking forward to February classes...

My son attends the "Rookies" class (6 and 7 year olds) and he really loves it. The teacher, Mr…read more Nick, is excellent and keeps the students engaged. What makes the Rookies class unique is that students are allowed the opportunity to explore different instruments (guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and vocals) so they don't need to commit to a single instrument just yet. Group instruction allows the students to work together as a band - playing with other musicians is one of the best ways to improve your skills. The Bayside/Queens location recently changed ownership and was acquired by School Of Rock of Long Island around October 2022. I believe they are going to expand to Forest Hills as well. The students learn 1 new song each month which gives students exposure to many different musical genres (rock, blues, pop, metal, hard rock). They could be playing "Roar" by Katy Perry one week then AC/DC's "TNT" another week. Most recently they were learning the "Twist and Shout" (Beatles version) and "Rockin' Robin" (Bobby Day) - I just realized that School Of Rock probably has to pay a decent amount of money for the licensing/ASCAP fees. At the end of each month of the Rookies class, the parents are invited to watch the children perform the song and it's impressive how much the student pick up after a few hours of group instruction. The older students who receive individual lessons actually perform at a live venue for an authentic rock star experience. I'm looking forward to seeing my son continue to learn and grown at School of Rock!
