Chicken Souvlaki
Dori K.

We were in the area and decided to stop in for dinner. We started off with salads then moved on to the main course; Chicken souvlaki and lamb chops. Both excellent and very fresh. The owner came to our table making sure everything was to our liking. He's very nice and personable. We'll definitely be back.

Kalo Fagito. !!! Service amazing. I felt like I was in Greece!!! I just came back from Greece so the food took me back there.

Saganoki that is terrible

Where to start, I believe my dog could make better food than this. We ordered spanakopita and saganoki. The waiter did not light the cheese. She attempted but failed, so alcohol was sitting on our cheese and it was very cold and not melted along with the fact that there was no pita wi to it. The spanakopita came with no tzatziki. It was grilled in triangle shapes and had a weird taste to it.

Kavos Grill located in @villageofnyack is a great spot for lunch or a nice dinner after you shop and stroll in Nyack, NY! It's nice and cozy inside with amazing service that serves fresh Greek food! Kavos Grill is known for their grilled fares and excellent salads. The Greek Salad with Grilled Octopus was the highlight for me! We had a great day out and we stopped to taste some Greek food . I must say Bad bad food. Over fried that you can't taste the fish . Too much oil. Still nauseous from it.This is not a traditional Greek food! I'm sorry I cannot give a better review. But I must be honest. For $ 20 for fish and chips you guys can do much better

We always get take out from here but dined in for the first time! Quick but friendly service. Food is always top notch and you get a nice portion for the price. Interior is a bit small but who cares when the food is this good?

a variety of meats and vegetables

Full disclosure: DoorDash order for my work group. Two, this experience for me was more like a 3.5, but parts of my order were good, and everyone else was happy with their meal, so I rounded up. My coworker really liked his salmon and rice, which I thought was a little pricey at 30 dollars. Another coworker got the kavos souvlaki with onions and tomatoes. Yet another got a chicken stick and the fish sandwich. All of them liked their order. I also got the chicken stick, which I liked, as well as the lemon potatoes. But things went wrong with the veggie stick. What I thought was going to be light and grilled was absolutely inundated with oil, to the point it soaked through the box and the bag. It was so oily it was inedible. This place has a big menu with all the Greek staples: gyros, fish, kebabs, lamb, spinach pies, and more. I would try it again, but NOT the veggie stick platter. My dasher was fast, but had to wait a long while for the meal to be prepared. In their defense, it was an order for five.

Baklava

So delicious you'll want more! Shared several appetizers since everything sounded so good and everything we had was delicious! The server was so sweet and pleasant. The owner came over to say hello and ensure everything was to our liking. We ended our meal with baklava which was just a bit too sweet but delightful with a great cup of coffee. The restaurant holds about 35 people of tables from 2-4 or 6. Definitely recommend!

My family and I went to Anasa for a special Celebration Dinner…read more It was wonderful!! Stevia/owner was very attentive and engaging. We split several appetizers and one was better than the other. For dinner, I had the whole fish which was delicious! The others had various specials. The Filet Mignon was beautifully presented and was tender and perfectly cooked as were the Lamb Chops. The Pastitsio and Moussaka were also excellent! We split a few of the different desserts and they were all scrumptious and quite decadent . (Unfortunately, there were no leftovers for doggie bags)! All of the food portions were plentiful and everything was amazing. The food was absolutely superb! Anasa is the perfect choice for a celebration, family get together or even for a quiet romantic dinner. It does not disappoint!!

I hadn't had mediterranean in a while and I'm not head over heels for the place near me so I wanted to try something new. This place seemed decent enough. I ordered a greek salad and hummus with pita. There were varying gyros, another greek salad with chicken, some platters including the falafel platter that GF orderd. My salad was wonderful. The ingredients were fresh and that dressing was lovely. It was a salad I actually enjoyed instead of regretting the entire time I glared at my coworkers who ordered real shit with envy. The hummus was also very creamy, authentic hummus with a slightly different taste than I am used to but head and shoulders above any store bought bullshit. Everyone else said good shit about their food. I tried one of GF's falafel from her platter and it was really good. My only complaint is for $24 or whatever it is, i would expect more than a few falafel balls and one side. Kinda a rip off. But everything tasted really, really good.

Like a lot of these spots, the tables are very close to each other so don't expect privacy especially if you're just two people. They have a decent menu with pita sandwiches, salads, appetizers, souvlaki platters, seafood and a kids menu, as well as specials. We enjoyed the falafel pita ($12.75, not dry and soft pita, hummus sauce but no tzaziki) and the shrimp platter ($25, on a bed of pita bread, fries [similar to diner fries] and a small side of pilaf rice for $4.5). It would have been nice if both entrees came with a side salad (or something) to complete the meal. I had my eye on the moussaka but there was no vegetarian version and they didn't have a spanakopita platter either. Also no complimentary pita, tapenade or chips, unlike some other Greek places. Since they seem to be pretty busy, service is fine and tries to keep it moving. Some people entered and had to wait for a table but staff didn't seem to rush anyone who was languishing a bit out. There was a steady stream of customers and takeout orders which likely speaks to a consistent experience. Their to-go bags were actually blue reusable bags, which I thought was a nice touch. Bring cash because credit card orders tack on almost 4% to the bill. The location isn't the best atmosphere wise (shopping plaza near Shop Rite and next to a Jersey Mike's) - small but not intimate - but on the plus side, parking is easy. If you miss the turn and go into Shop Rite, you can still get to the restaurant without going back on the main street.

The owner started his business venture as a ghost kitchen in 2020, and then opened up this brick-and-mortar location earlier this year. There's a parking lot in the back. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a Mediterranean-inspired ambiance - rustic pottery, white & blue color palettes, blonde woods, soft lighting. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. The seating areas are good for small to medium-sized groups. They have a simple menu with fresh ingredients and reasonable prices: pita sandwiches, salads, rice bowls, platters, pastries, etc. The rotisserie meats are the star of the show! We ordered... *Spanakopita $6 (layers of crispy, golden phyllo dough with a spinach, feta cheese, and herb filling) *Tiropita $6 (layers of buttered phyllo dough with a cheese and egg filling) The phyllo dough was flaky, crispy, and buttery. I preferred the tiropita out of the two. It was super cheesy, salty, and creamy. The spinach filling wasn't as good because it tasted oily. *Traditional Gyro Platter $20 *Chicken Souvlaki Platter $20 All platters are served with one grilled pita, tzatziki sauce, and your choice of two sides. The lamb/beef gyro was slow-cooked on a vertical rotisserie. It was super savory, tender, and seasoned in a blend of herbs and spices. The chicken souvlaki skewers were juicy and loaded with a zesty lemon garlic marinade. The pita bread was warm and fluffy. The tzatziki sauce was creamy and tangy. For our sides we chose: *Greek Salad (romaine, tomato, red onion, cucumber, Greek herbs, feta, dolma, olives, pepperoncini, red wine vinaigrette) *Marinated Beet Salad (red beets, red onion, herbs, balsamic glaze) *Lentil Soup *Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup All of the sides were delicious. The salads were very refreshing and made with high quality ingredients. Out of the two soups, my favorite was the lemon chicken orzo. It was like a good ol' comforting bowl of chicken noodle soup with a bright, citrusy aftertaste. The lentil soup broth was a little too watery and sour for me (I think they might've overdone it with the lemon and tomatoes). We had a lot of leftovers to take home. The prices are an excellent bang for your buck because they give you generous portions. The staff is very kind and attentive. We dined in and they brought our food to us in a timely manner. They were on point with clearing our plates, giving us extra utensils/napkins, and anything else we needed. I would happily return whenever I'm in the area!

Pita Greek offers bowls and salads (with added protein possible for $6-7), pita sandwiches, and big platters that come with two sides and pita bread. We really enjoyed the chicken gyro (tender), spanakopita (generously filled), and the falafel (surprisingly not dry but some people may prefer a crisper texture). For the sides, we enjoyed the chicken lemon soup and beets most. The lentil soup, scallion rice (similar to pilaf), broccoli (large pieces), and fries were ok too, in that order. The bowls and pita sandwiches are $12 base but we were a bit disappointed that the falafel addition to the bowl only came with three smallish pieces. The big platters are probably the way to go if you want shareables, as each separate item can be more than the $20 for the platter. They have a pita sandwich lunch special with a drink too. They also have kids meals and catering. Wish they had moussaka on the regular menu! They display desserts at the counter and they all looked very sweet. I wasn't expecting much in terms of atmosphere but it looked comfortable and clean in the dining area and there was outdoor seating. There's a shared parking lot in the back which is nice for Middletown Road. But otherwise, street parking is possible.

I love that their menu has so many options that you don't typically find at other brunch spots, and there are a few things I almost always end up ordering. I am personally not vegetarian but this place is 100%. Make a reservation if you can, especially on weekends. It gets very busy! One of my favorites is the Chagall Bowl, but I always substitute the grain for Israeli couscous. I personally think it's so much better that way! I've ordered it countless times and still haven't gotten tired of it. I also really love their shakshuka, which is such a good option when I'm in the mood for something warm and comforting. Another favorite of mine is the goat cheese malawach. If you've never tried it, I definitely recommend it! The pastry is flaky and buttery, and I love the combination with the goat cheese. It's one of those dishes I don't see offered at many other places, which is part of why I love coming here. But I have to say, one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back is their chai tea late. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best chai I've ever had. I don't know exactly what they do differently, but nothing I've had elsewhere compares. I honestly wish I could make it at home because I crave it all the time. I also really like the atmosphere here. It's a cute, cozy spot, and I've always enjoyed coming here whether it's for a full meal or just something to drink. It can definitely get busy, but I think that says a lot about how much people enjoy it. Art Cafe has been one of my go-to spots for years, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. If you're going for the first time, I'd recommend the Chagall Bowl with Israeli couscous, shakshuka, or goat cheese malawach. And seriously, get the hot chai. It's SO good. There is no parking directly associated so either do street parking or the lot a few blocks away ( pay to park)

My Over all rating = Meh (Barely acceptable, but no huge complaints either) Service - meh Food - meh Facility - meh Protip: Greek Village in Northvale, NJ seems better rated although I haven't been there yet. That's my next stop for Greek. It's 15min north from PGK. If you go inside its furnished in modern industrial type of decor. Having said that, the restaurant wasn't well run. When I walked in there were very few customers, but few tables were left dirty with dishes and food bits still on them. The floor in similar fashion looked like it hasn't been swept for a bit. I can see paper strip from the straw, gum rapper, and some food. One table near the door had a completely dried out grains of rice. Yes, if you are Asian then you know. It's the kind of rice that hurts your foot because your son/daughter left on the floor the last night at dinner and didn't care to pick up. (Asian problems) Seriously, it had to be there for half a day. No one cared to clean this ? Given the amount of business it had at at the time (not much), it would have taken one person 5 min to fix the aforementioned problems. It showed me that the employees/managers didn't really care. Attitude of the employees that talked to me was consistent with what I saw about the facility. They weren't rude, but just seemed disinterested, disconnected and just blah. In terms of food, I got a a decent Pork Souvlaki in pita. I would rate it 6.5 out of 10 or C-. My pork was unevenly cooked. It had a nice char on one side and just light brown on the other. It was just short of being burnt on one side. I didn't love the Tzatziki sauce that was on there either. I don't know about Greek food that much, but I didn't think it was well made. Either that or it wasn't freshly made. Finally, the only veg that was in there was red onion and tomatoes. I usually see lettuce of some sort of lettuce at all other greek places. So....not too hip to go back, but I may go back if I really crave greek and I don't want to drive more than 10 min to get it.
