I only give this a three due to the cost of drugs through their online pharmacy and they do not allow you to get your flea medication from an outside pharmacy therefore I had to pay $60 more for the 6 pills. Other than that Dr brown is very good with our dogs. I think you should be allowed to get your prescription filled where you can get the best price. read more

My mother has been taking her pets to Kaufman Veterinary Center since Feb 2012. Today she is told that they will no longer accept pets unless they live in the immediate area. She has been using them for wellness checks, surgeries, allergies, ear issues and the list goes on. She is 85 years old and has spent a fair amount of money and given extreme loyalty to this veterinary clinic for the entire 9 years. Her dog has returning cancer and they are denying her treatment. I wish I could rate them 0 stars. They refused to give me an appointment for my 11 week old puppy because I have dual residence in California and Kaufman County. My drivers license still has my Kaufman County address on it. The lady was extremely rude to me on the phone and said she didn't care that my whole family has used them for vet services my whole life and my boyfriends entire family (who I share the dog with) has also always used them and still uses them. I recently moved to Kaufman area and stopped by to weigh my foster dog and have her nails trimmed. I saw Dr Brown. She attempted to trim the nails but the quick was so long her nails would have bled. She did weigh the dog for me. When I went to check out there was no charge! Nice to move to small town where you find old fashioned values! read more

Had to take my cat 4 times for the same problem and for another cat, they refused to write prescription for her food and told me I could only buy from them. I will never go back to this vet! I brought my dog in to get a couple vaccinations that he was due for and the receptionist that I dealt with at first was very nice and helpful. Once I came out of the exam room to check-out, the other receptionist was not pleasant whatsoever. She looked at his chart with a confused look and went on to ask the other receptionist why he was given a Lepto vaccine (he got Lepto and Bordatella) because "dogs don't get lepto shots...we only give those to cows". Dogs 100% get Lepto vaccines. She then went to ask the tech what shots were given and came back saying to another staff member that they don't have Lepto for dogs as an option in the computer and charged me for a DAPP vaccine instead. DAPP is a 4-in-1 vaccine and therefore is more expensive (at least it is at every other vet I've been to) yet she thought it was okay to charge me for that. I didn't realize this until I got in the car, but had no desire to go back in and deal with that receptionist again. So not only do I have paperwork that doesn't have the correct vaccines given, but I'm not even confident that they gave my dog the correct vaccine/the one I asked for. After she gave me the total and charged my card, she handed me my receipt and didn't say a word. No "thank you" or "have a nice day"...nothing! As someone who worked at a non-profit shelter for years, the customer service I was given and the lack of knowledge that receptionist had was totally unacceptable. I call the day before and i was told I called and cancel my appointment, I did not do that, the person that answer the phone was very rude and was very unprofessional and more less calling me a liar. This vet clinic is amazing. Prices are 1/2 to 1/3 of what I would have been charged at my prior vet. They worked with me on payment, even as a new patient. They were compassionate and corrected a lot of wrongs from the previous vet. My family has used them for years. I did not because they are 1 hour from my home. My 5 months old Yorkie got infected with parvovirus and we brought him to the Kaufman veterinary center. He was confined there for 7 days. This place is awful. I moved from Mississippi to Texas and had to find a vet to do a heart worm check on my dogs so I could continue keeping them on their heart worm meds. I don't even know if the women who drew their blood was a doctor or not. She didn't speak 2 words. After she drew their blood, she told us to have a seat in the lobby. We waited for about 15 minutes and the receptionist told us we passed and sold us Heartguard. I requested Iverheart Max but this office does not sell it. My dogs have always taken Iverheart Max. The doctor never did a exam or anything. If the women who drew blood was the doctor I would be shocked. It was just weird. Anyway, I went online to buy Iverheart Max from Petmeds. This office would not authorize the prescription. They told me it was their policy. They will not authorize prescriptions from online pharmacys. They told me they would be happy to fax my records to another office. So that's exactly what I did. It took me less than 15 minutes to find a vet in Kemp that was willing to cooperate. I had a horrible time with this office. I do not recommend them to anyone EVER. read more

I have been a client at this establishment for over 2 years and never had a problem until recently. I needed to purchase a product from the office this past Saturday. While on my way to the office, I realized that traffic was causing me to run later than anticipated. The office closes at 11:30 am on Saturday and I was afraid that the staff would be gone for the day when I arrived. I called the office to let them know that I was on my way but would be a few minutes late and to see if someone would be available to help me. The woman who answered the phone immediately put me on hold before I was able to state the reason for my call. I was on hold for approximately 15 minutes before I just hung up since I was only a few minutes away from the office. I arrived there at 11:33 am. There were cars still in the parking lot and I saw people inside. I knocked on the door to grab someone's attention. After the third knock, a woman came to the door. She did not open the door. She spoke through the glass and asked how she may help me. I explained to her that I needed to purchase an item from inside. She told me that I had to come back on Monday. I told her that the visit did not require my dog to see the vet and that I just needed to purchase a product sold inside. She apologized (sarcastically) and said I needed to come back on Monday. I am beyond disappointed in the customer service that was given that day. I do not understand why I wasn't allowed to come inside to purchase that one item. Especially, when I can see people inside with their pets and staff attending to their needs. There was no need for her to be sarcastic and making her disinterest in my request clearly evident by not even bothering to open the door to speak to me. It is amazing how one person can ruin the way a business is viewed. Because of this one person, I have found a new vet for my dog and will be taking my business there. read more
