My dog had been threw very basic, weekly training from 5 to 8 months so when I contacted Roger, I let him know Oscar knew how to sit, lay down, etc. on command; however, he was becoming unmanageable on a leash and developing terrible anxiety to the point where he would shake every time he was outside and any time he'd hear a noise, (I live in downtown Dallas so there's a ton of it) he'd freak out, get low to the ground, and pull me back home to his safety. After Oscar worked with Roger and Megan for 6 weeks, plus weekly visits, he's honestly a different pup. He's confident. He's silly. I joke with my friends he's back to puppy Oscar ways. Oscar 2.0. He still has anxiety, but it's easily manageable. I use the commands they taught us to redirect attention to calm him down and continue our walk or whatever adventure we're on. While in training, every week when I met with him, he was extremely happy to see me but also happy when I told him goodbye and I'd see him in a few days. When the 6 week training program was complete and finishing our final working session to head back home, he ran around the Land Retrievers yard licking, snuggling the employees. Hard for me to say but I'm also so happy, he loved it there. He didn't want to leave. That's so telling. I plan to board Oscar at Landmark Retrievers whenever I leave town moving forward. It was a really great experience and very reasonably affordable. I'm definitely happy I was pointed toward Roger and Megan.

I called around and no one could do it this week until I called Bark Avenue. Jay was really nice and said he would work around my schedule. He was to arrive at 10a to start the salon services. He was running late but sent me a text to let me know and arrived at 10:30a. He and his mother (his partner was ill) took care of the 3 dogs and they were not nervous or skeptical. That says a lot because these 3 have been through so much and their confidence level is way below the radar. He cleaned everything up, vacuumed and left the place clean. I was able to use the Yelp deal so it only cost me $120 for the 3 dogs, and that included de-shedding for 2 of them (where others wanted to charge up to an additional $25). I would definitely have Jay back to take care of my dog and any other fosters I may have. Thanks, Jay and Mom!

He asked me to text him confirming the appointment time and my address, which I did. Unfortunately today I called them at 9am after never receiving a response to my text. They didn't answer, but called me back at 11 after me texting them asking them to please confirm my appointment since I work full time and would need to come home. He told me that he didn't have any record of my appointment, and even when I sent him the screen shot of me confirming the appointment he told me he never received it and that he was sorry. Long story short- they didn't even offer me another appointment or some way to apologize/rectify for the error (discounted groom? Come by on their day off?) and even though they were polite on the phone I wouldn't recommend such a disorganized professional service to any friends. I mentioned that their Yelp reviews seem to reflect lots of missed appointments and he said it was just the two of them so unfortunately that's why. I really think Bark Avenue should look into hiring an assistant for scheduling, or an online platform for booking appointments. You are losing a lot of dog-loving, paying customers by losing appointments and not offering any kind of consolation for the mistake on your end.

She became highly indignant, saying she did nothing wrong (though they had refunded my money the previous visit_ when I kept asking her to see the logic that my Lab was 100% well when I brought him in, and after I picked him up he needed hundreds of dollars of treatment--not to mention his PAIN. This all began a couple months ago: a couple days after PP bathed my Lab he developed a crusty spot on his NECK and my vet said to let him know if it got bigger and to use a little vitamin E oil. After PP bathed him again 5 weeks later, I got home to see something waxy was on his back hair. Tiffany suggested it could be that maybe it was soap/he wasn't rinsed properly, that it had the feel and appearance of a lotion though they don't use lotions, then they voluntarily refunded my money. I trusted them though I couldn't get the product off of his back, and five weeks later brought him in for another bath. When I picked him up that time, the bather said she cleaned what looked to be a lot of flee poop off of his BACK. My lab is 12, is on prescription flea preventatives (plus it's winter), he rarely goes outside and his arthritis prevents him from rolling on his back, and STILL most of this waxy stuff remained even after another bath--they said they couldn't clean all of it off and that it might be normal aging--I had to ask how it could be that he suddenly aged between 9AM and 2PM when I picked him up. Three days after that bath, the small crusty spot blew up in the fold of his neck and I rushed him back to the vet. There was no hair loss and the vet confirmed It wasn't a hot spot after he shaved the area. After scrapes and staph testing and blood tests and even sending a blood sample out for a full thyroid test, there was nothing left to do other than hope steroids and a topical antibiotic would heal the area half the size of my palm. The vet confirmed that the problem could only have developed from an irritant there in the fold of his skin. They had refunded my money the previous visit because they said that they just hadn't rinsed him well, now bather denied it had anything to do with them and blamed it on something/anything else that I was responsible for. She kept interrupting me and became irate when I kept asking her to let me speak and ask her to see the logic. SHE felt persecuted! Now I was indignant and rose my voice to match hers--that's when she hung up on me. It was incredulous that she now acted like she was the victim.
