I had a really good time with Ryan. We were driving from Princeville to Poipu and decided to plan for a waterskiing adventure. I selected a 30-minute session. It was the first time my kids have seen me ski and wakeboard. Our set was at 1pm. I was worried about it being blown out, but it was really smooth. It was a little windy, but nothing to really complain about. I hadn't skiied in over 10 years and it was awesome to be back out on the water. How it works is you drive about 1 mile up river and back. You have to watch out for kayakers and not get too close to the vegetation on the shore. I wouldn't expect a tournament waterski boat or a kick ass wakeboard boat with ballast. But if you want to scratch your itch for waterskiing or wakeboarding, this is the trip for you. It was so easy to just show up, borrow some gear, and get skiing. Definitely worth it from my perspective. I would definitely do it again. My kids and wife had an awesome time. read more

The Best!!! From the minute we got there and throughout the entire hour, this was our favorite experience on the island! The owner is so nice and accomodating, and just super chill. Such a fun and beautiful morning with Kenny in the Wailua River. Kenny was very sweet and had a lot of patience for my 3 kids who had never wake boarded before. They are 13, 15, and 17. Kenny was able to get all 3 up on their first try. They had a blast and are now hooked on the sport. I highly recommend you plan 30 minutes per person who plans to wake board. We did 90 minutes and it was a perfect amount of time for my 3 kids to have a fun experience and tire them out. read more

We started an email exchange with this company about reservations 2 months in advance. Then they stopped responding. They dont answer the phones. When I followed up again they were already booked. There was nothing they could do to accommodate us. Very disappointing customer service. read more

We were desperately looking for a place to rent boards in Kauai because we were itching to get into the water and enjoy the surf... and luckily we parked close to this store while we ate at the local sushi joint (Kintaro's). It's listed in Doughty's "The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook" as a resource for board rentals, but an address wasn't listed (just a phone number). Board rentals are very reasonably affordable at $10/day... all they had as far as shortboards went were NSP epoxy boards (not a big fan of them nowadays, but to their credit, they produce awesome boards to learn on since they're practically indestructable).. but it's better than nothing, and we were able to enjoy some surf while we were there. It looks like they provide equipment for a large number of outdoor activities, and the people who work there are super nice. If I remember correctly, I believe they also offer lessons in various outdoor activities as well. They also sell a wide variety of beach-related materials (from swimsuits to snorkeling gear). If the surf is small and you don't feel the need to commit to a super-nice board and would rather pay a reasonable amount for a rental all day, they're pretty tough to beat. We only wish we knew about this place earlier because we paid more the day before at a board shop in Po'ipu that had a similar but slightly larger arsenal to choose from. read more

Booked an appointment based on good reviews but the day of our booking we drove 45 minutes and arrived before our scheduled time. After waiting 15 mins after our scheduled time, we called and left a message with the company. After another 10 mins we tried calling again with no answer. We then received a call back from Kenny (who seemed like a good guy) saying that due to debris in the water he had to cancel us and that he was sorry he couldn't contact us earlier. We had high hopes but contacting us 25 minutes past our booking that he had to cancel after us driving 45 minutes is unacceptable. read more

Just got back from Kauai. Did all types of great activities, Napali Coast, Tubing etc. Then just driving over the Wailua River bridge, out of the corner of my eye, I see someone water skiing ! Well I had to turn in, I mean how AWESOME would that be. That is when I met Kenny ! We had an amazing time wake boarding and kneeboarding with Kenny. He is a great steady and smooth driver.He got all of us up on first pull,even our 4 yr old girl. I could not ask for a better setting. The water is relatively warm and the surroundings are beautiful. I wish the river had a longer skiable stretch though. A great time for the family. Pretty cool to wakeboard the Wailua River. Very nice Malibu and the river is as smooth as glass. If you're looking for a huge wake, this isn't the place. The river is shared with kayaks and the big wake would flip them. But it was a super fun!! One more awesome thing we did while visiting this incredible island. (the other thing to do is ride the ATV's at Kipu Kai). read more

My family has gone water-skiing with Kenny once or twice a trip for the past 5 summers. (In fact, Kenny taught all three of my kids how to ski in the 1st place.) We always have a great time with him -- he really knows what he's doing. Beyond that, he's patient, helpful, and just a very nice guy all around. We had a fantastic time wakeboarding on the river. My 2 sons (14 and 16) had never been wakeboarding but with excellent instructions were able to get up on the board within a few tries. The older one at the end was able to make a turn and cross a few wakes. They had a blast and we were glad we picked this as one of our activities on Kauai. read more

I wish there was less than one star. I can honestly say I have never had a worse experience with any business. We were surprised to find that the Water Ski School had an opening the same day that we called. It wasn't long after we got there that we realized why. I wish I could remember the boat drivers name but he didnt' even introduce himself to us so we're not sure if we ever even knew it. He was the owner of the surf shop and the school apparently. The first thing out of his mouth was a complaint because we put our sandals in his boat and they had a little bit of sand on them. The second thing he said to us was "How are you going to pay?" He charged us 150 per hour even though he advertizes 140 on his site. He required payment up frontm and again, we learned why. He is lucky that he did collect cash up front because we would have quickly excused ourselves after the first pull. He had no current equipment and the only wakeboard he had in his boat was a cheap and outdated 140cm board. I am 6'2" and usually ride a 146 at minimum. I told him this when booking the time and was assured that he had "everything we need" The boat was an Older Malibu Sunseter with no ballast, no perfect pass and Old worn out handles and ropes. The driver could not hold speed for an experienced wakeboarder. He was extreemly rude when we decided not to continue for the rest of the hour and told us that we should just ski in portland. He was yelling rude comments as he drove away in his boat after dropping us off. It is obvious that he has no competition here in Kauai and none of the booking agencies will book him because they would be refunding everyone's money if they did. Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this company!! Our friends warned us about him too and we didn't listen... shame on us! read more
