Horrible experience!!! Took my party of 15 guest and they told me it was a wait of 30-35 mins. We waited and got told they were going to sit us down , they sat other guest and as they were coming in. It is nice to see a NY style deli on this side of town. My friend was having a birthday gathering without reservation and I got there early and was able to give them a heads up that we will have a big group of people and they were able to fit on the patio sitting together with 2 servers taking care of us. I had a wonderful experience at this location. I stopped in on a weekday off and I was seated right away. The decor reminds me of a fancy old Hollywood diner. The server was pleasant and friendly and I ordered the pastrami hash with scrambled eggs with a waffle on the side. I didn't wait long and my food came out hot, the waffle perfectly crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the middle. The maple syrup tasted authentic. The eggs were scrambled how I like it, not too runny, and the savory pastrami provided a good balance to the sweet waffle. The bathroom was clean which I appreciated. We had a great Saturday brunch. Came In town for a graduation and stopped in for breakfast that morning. The place was clean and inviting the servers were warm and friendly. The coffee and tea were on point and the food was great. Servings are more than adequate for even the hungriest of diners. I had the corned beef hash which was made with their potato latkes chopped up along with tender strips of corned beef and loaded with grilled onions all topped with 2 sunny side eggs! It was served with your choice of breads or pancakes. Two other diners had the 2 egg combo breakfast with sausage and the other diner ordered the bagel and lox plate and all of us chose the pancakes as our side. The lox plate requested his pancakes to be brought out after his breakfast (as his dessert) so that they would be piping hot when he was ready to eat them and the waitress was only too happy to oblige! The menu is huge, there were so many options. I ordered the Monte Cristo. While the taste was good, I was disappointed with the size of the sandwich. It might've been the smallest Monte Cristo I've ever had lol. It took forever for the food to come out, but our server apologized multiple times about the wait. He was extremely attentive and friendly. I think the service needs improvement. From my observation I don't think there were enough waitress on the floor. The location is already off to a strong start, providing plenty of parking for their guests, spacious indoor and outdoor seating, and the classic 1950s decor with a modern touch. The turnout was also impressive. My bartender/server, Tristan, handled the rush with ease, ensuring that my party felt well taken care of while staying positive, attentive and professional. The portions are MASSIVE, but somehow you always leave room for dessert. The staff is friendly and courteous and makes you feel right at home. For this visit, I went with the fried pickles (these are a must!) the meatball parm hero, and for dessert their monthly signature slice of the lemon cake. what a joke! I have had several poor experiences at different Katz locations but this one hands down is the worst. The food was trash. Chopped steak was a burger patty. No flavor. Chicken Parmesan had two burned hockey pucks of pre-breaded frozen chicken thrown on top of some dry spaghetti noodles. Wtf? Server was nice but why was he the only server running around? I saw him handing out Togo orders and making bar drinks when there was clearly a bartender walking around and talking to other servers in the back. Also the prices here have become outrageous! $27 for a roast dinner? Come on! Katz used to be great when there were only 2 locations Montrose and The woodlands. No don't even bother. Stopped in to this "Never Kloses" icon of a deli restaurant on our way into H-town for the weekend. Despite it being close to 11pm, this Memorial City location was pretty busy but we were seated almost immediately. The ticket times for our orders came relatively fast but he seemed to forget the little things, like our requests for silverware, lemon for the tea, extra ice. We had to ask more than once for each. It was a solid sandwich, although on the slightly over toasted wheat bread was a little dry, even with the dressing. While the sandwich was good, the pickle was great!.. perfectly cold and had a snap, and tasted super fresh. The breakfast items my family ordered were all very good. The waffle and ice cream were perfectly fine and were presented well on the plate. As well, the table ordered a plate of pancakes with sausage patties. The pancakes were very fluffy but the star of that plate was the sausage! The patties were seemingly done on a grill, were perfectly charred and even tasted smoked. They were fantastic! We showed up with a party of six and had a totally manageable 30-minute wait, a great sign for how popular this spot is. But seriously, the service was the absolute highlight. Even a manager swung by just to make sure we were having the best breakfast experience. That kind of attention to detail is hard to find! Now, onto the food and let me tell you, it delivered. Our table turned into a beautiful breakfast landscape featuring pure joy in the form of fluffy chocolate chip pancakes, crisp and perfect Belgian waffles, and a hearty two eggs breakfast setup. I finally settled on the patty melt, and someone else got the Klassic Scottish smoked salmon sandwich on an everything bagel per request. You can choose your own bread. The salmon sandwich was really good but eating all that cream cheese on a bagel was a tad messy. I ordered the patty melt medium rare and it came out pretty close with a very nice flavor and texture to the meat. Apparently they grind their own meat throughout the day for burgers. It's not the traditional patty melt, which would be just meat, cheese, and grilled onions on rye. This came with lettuce and tomatoes and American cheese, but I'm not complaining. The only criticism would be for the lack of attention to ice tea refills, which we had to ask for. The "Holy Mary" Bloody Mary was tasty and definitely had the vodka in it, unlike some other places I've been to where it cannot be detected. The bar is doing a good job. read more
