Our shutters were installed a few months back and are garbage. Our previous shutters were amazing in our other home. They opened and closed with ease, actually kept the light out. When they were installed, they seemed really sticky and didn't move well and when I asked the installer and also called, I was told that was normal and they would start to give and move better. Fast forward, a few months and they are still sticky and the whole room is often bright. I had called a place here in San Antonio who advised me that they were done incorrectly but we can't afford to have them redone. I went back and forth about posting this because we have used yelp forever and I can't remember writing a bad review. read more

Texas Handcrafted Shutters - The whole room is like this in the middle of the night. I have never had shutters show so much light seeping in. - Shades & Blinds Near Me - Katy, Texas

we got the shutters in our whole hous. when Melanie came to take our order she said life time warranty of shutters is included and they came 2,3 times to fix the shutters free of cost. Now they are asking for money. They should give service the way they promised us. when u call Melanie she doesn't pick up the phone. I will never recommend them to any one. Their shutters even have lines on them, they came and change the blades of shutters and their magnets breaks so easily. Quality and their service is not good. plus they don't keep the promise they did while getting the business. read more

Loved the personal service by Melanie. She came to the house with samples and extensive knowledge and brilliant suggestions. I absolutely love the clean fresh look of these shutters in my living room. Love the flexibility and control of light and privacy with these and the one in the sidelight at the door! The installer was running behind from another job but they called to let me know and kept me updated. He was very professional and cleaned up and placed furniture back upon completion. read more

We had a super easy and fantastic experience hiring Katy Plantations! Melanie, the owner, was very eager to please and committed herself to providing us with quality blinds, yet at an affordable cost. We have an awkwardly small window of 6" wide and couldn't find blinds at Lowe's or Home Depot. We got quotes from four other companies but none of them could compare to Melanie's fair price and excellent service. Charles and Leonard did a great job installing the blinds. They arrived on time and were very kind. I highly recommend Katy Plantations for all your window needs! read more

We recently bought our home a couple months ago. We knew we wanted to get shutters, we shopped around from Home Depot to Lowe's to small business around Katy after meeting with Katy Plantations, not only were we blown away by their great customer service but how smoothly everything went from beginning to end. Couldn't be more impressed and in love with our purchase! read more

You guys were a joy to work with. You were the most responsive and had the best quality and value of all the providers we considered. Would definitely recommend you to our friends and family. read more

My shutters were completed by Katy Plantations Handcrafted Shutters (KPHS) today. Initially Chris came to my home to show me the shutter samples and make recommendations. I followed his recommendations and the shutters are beautiful. Perfect follow through from the beginning of the process to the installation of the shutters. Heime Sr. and Heime Jr. did a perfect job installing. KPHS can get your shutters ordered and installed in less time than the other vendors I contacted. I plan to use them again for another project. They are reasonable, prompt and do beautiful work! Thank you Chris and the two Heime's for making this a stress free install. You guys are awesome! read more

Equipment issues delayed delivery but service was great and shutters are beautiful. Would recommend to anyone.

I am here to say that Katy Plantations Handcrafted Shutters are TOP notch. My husband and I were looking to purchase plantation shutters for our new home. I called Katy Plantations Handcrafted Shutters because they are local and they even manufacture the shutters right here in the Katy area. I love to support local business and it was even better they also manufacture them in our town. When we called to request a quote Melanie was more than accommodating with our work schedules! I received quotes from a few other companies and was disappointed I had to take off work to accommodate their weekday schedules (with no evening options). However I wanted to be sure I was making the right choice, after all this is a big investment. Melanie arrived on time as planned and explained every detail and all the different options we could choose from (i.e. type of material, frame style, size of louvers, and many more). Given her expertise she was able to consult us in decisions about which shutters made sense for our living habits and sizes of our windows. I was especially impressed that we had the choice for solid hardwood shutters l as I found most other companies only had the vinyl. Not that I am against vinyl, as there are pros and cons with either one. Most other companies do not give you a choice and the solid wood option does not include the entire shutter construction, or only includes the louvers, etc. We ended up going with the 4" clearview hardwood shutters. We absolutely love them!! I had them make double panels for my front and side windows, which gives it a more traditional look, however for the back windows we went with just one panel so we would not have any obstruction of our pool and backyard. Throughout this process Melanie was always available to answer our questions and she was always so friendly. Thank you Melanie!! Once we made our decisions and were ready, Melanie came to our house to measure, again working around our schedules. She spent a considerable amount of time measuring and explaining the process and provided an estimate for when they would be ready to install. The shutters were ready sooner than expected. They called me to schedule the install, again working around our schedules. The install crew (one person in our case) arrived on time... love the punctuality. He was very clean and professional. During the installation, each shutter was double and triple checked. It is obvious these guys are very meticulous and proud of their work. They cleaned up every scrap leaving absolutely no mess behind. A big plus! In summary; It isn't often that you come across such an extraordinary company, but when you do it's a wonderful experience. Katy Plantations Handcrafted Shutters did an excellent job communicating with us and was very coordinated from the first phone call to the install. This company is hands down the best option when it comes to window treatments. Thanks again Melanie! You Rock read more

We had KPHS do the plantation shutters for the enormous brow windows on the street side of our house and another window. Melanie came and did the estimate, and told me to talk it over with the husband. We decided to go with their company, and are we ever glad we did! The shutters were done in two weeks from the day I called her and told her to go for it. They matched the paint color of our trim exactly. The installers were courteous and quick, and the shutters are absolutely beautiful. The only regret we have is not doing it sooner!! read more

Excellent! 2nd home we have used them for. Reliable, good prices and friendly. Highly recommend!

Relocating isn't easy but working long distance with Melanie and her staff was remarkably easy and the results are wonderful. Working with Melanie via email was simple ... as requested, she provided two quotes, our ideal and one to combine shutters with blinds. The price for shutters on all windows was very reasonable, especially, considering the quality of the product and the installation. The installer, Leonard, is a perfectionist ... read more

Such great work. Prompt and responsive. Installation was clean and quick. Highly recommend. Beautiful product.

I am extremely pleased with my shutters. I received 2 other bids from other companies and Katy Plantation Shutters beat the price by about 30%.... and these are wood shutters vs composite. I really like that they are made in Katy, TX too. It's great to buy American especially when its cheaper & better quality! I would absolutely recommend you to anyone looking for shutters. They make a huge difference in the looks of my home. read more

A great local company that does quality work in a timely fashion. I highly recommend doing business with them. Prices are reasonable

Six weeks ago one of my children threw his football into my shutters and broke two louvers. I called the Katy business owner that did the initial install to have the louvers replaced. She came out, took one of the louvers and I have gotten the run around since then. My house is going on the market and I needed something done quickly. I called and spoke with Melanie yesterday at about 8 a.m. She sent a wonderful lady out to my home within 30 minutes. She removed the other louver, color matched it, and was back at my house by 11:30 to replace the damaged louvers with new ones. I wish I would have known about Melanie and Katy Plantation Shutters when we did the original install. It's easy to make sure a customer is taken care of when you spend tons of money out of the gate, but it speaks volumes about actual customer care when you ghost the same customer for SIX WEEKS for a simple fix. Thank you Melanie and Mildred!!! read more

Perfect product for my needs. I have an upstairs media room that regular blinds couldn't get dark enough to watch my projection TV. After the shutter were installed, there was no need for drapes or any other coverings over the windows to keep the room dark. Seamless installation and always a conversation piece for anyone coming to the house! read more
