I've been here twice for brunch and it was tasty! This time my boyfriend ordered the tuna melt and it was amazing!! I loved it, I wish I ordered it for myself. I ordered the eggs benedict, and it was basic, but good. Nothing to rave about, and the potatoes tasted a bit sweeter than normal, but it was fine, They have outdoor seating under a tent and a hand sanitizer station! I came with two guests, and they enjoyed their meals very much. Mine was just okay, so it's important you choose well: The fries- these are VERY good. I would fully recommend trying a dish with fries because they are very very good. My brother described them as five guys fries without as much grease. Very light and crunchy- yum! Reuben- my guest enjoyed their Reuben, it was packed with meat that was described as very tender and moist. Chorizo skillet- 3/5. I was not too crazy about this skillet. The chorizo was very finely ground so it didn't pack as much of a flavor punch as I was hoping. The eggs were well prepared though. Pancakes- the basics were delish. I loved the pancakes and syrup, they were very well prepared and a welcome supplement to my meal. "Pillows"- these are 3 cinnamon puffs served with sauces. These were a slightly small portion for $5 the puffs were also a little more well done than I would've expected, but the sauces were fun and tasty to try. Overall, a pleasant and open atmosphere with well priced good food. I would go for the fries or a sandwich combo instead of the skillets. read more

We just came back from Katie's kitchen. The wait was only a couple minutes but the service was bad. The food was good but it took 20 minutes to get our order another 20 plus minutes to get our food. My husbands order and my pancakes came out. My omelet came 10 minutes later. The weird thing is everyone else around us got their food before us and we were there first. I went to the owners Mom and told her we love your restaurant but the service was bad. Her response was it's not my fault. We are low staffed in the kitchen. When tried to explain a little she cut me off and said oh yeah I'll tell the kitchen. I was very disappointed. So not like her. read more

Service was very courteous and helpful in picking appropriate meals. Food was delicious! Recommend sausage waffles with eggs. First time having it and was a complete meal that fit the morning routine. Stuffed French Toast was also better than other breakfast places. Even better, price was more affordable. I'm always on the hunt for new delicious breakfast spots. Last night Chicago's Best TV featured just that, Chicagoland's Best Breakfast. After looking at Katie's menu last night online, I knew I had to pay a visit, after checking out the sunrise at the beach in Winnetka, on the 1st day of Autumn. They featured her Huevos Racheros last night. Toasted English muffin, marinated skirt steak, avocado, two poached eggs, ranchero sauce, baked with Cheddar cheese. I'll have to try it my next visit. I went for her Southwest Egg White Scrambler "On The Healthy Side" of her menu. Spicy chicken sausage, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, Mozzarella cheese. Served with choice of toast and fruit or tomato. I asked for the whole egg with sliced tomatoes and dumped the side of black bean and corn salsa atop the tomatoes. The sausage did have a nice little kick. My server Mary is awesome and has been here for 10 of their 11 years they've been open. Definitely a hidden gem in this corner strip mall. They have a large dining room and it can be partitioned off for private parties. She also offers catering too. read more

Typical breakfast spot. They provide complimentary mini muffins for the table. I ordered an egg white scrambler and they provided a black bean salsa. I thought they confused my order with the Southwestern scrambler but someone else who ordered a different egg white scrambler got it as well. Santa made a special appearance which was nice but he proceeded to stand and read a book to the entire dining room. read more

If you like real Mexican food, DO NOT order their Spanish named items or you'll just be disappointed. Their Hispanic food taste like something from Taco Bell. It's very Americanized which is a disgrace to our culture/food. The "enchiladas" are nothing like our real enchiladas. It's Great "Mexican" food if you're an unseasoned person or have never had real Mexican food. You'll love this. read more

This resto is a to go to brunch haven if you want a delish, healthy food options for brunch. It deserves the 5 stars for the homey, cozy ambience and for being the spotlessly clean place that it is. My husband and I ordered oatmeal with fruits and nuts which is delish. It have a hint of some muscovado sugar like tastiness to it. For drinks we ordered tea ( nicely placed inside the small steel kettle) which is excellently executed with a slice of lemon and honey in a miniature bottle. I feel that we still deserve some great food even with the challenges of hypertension and diabetes.. This awesome place is it! read more

Great service- the waitress was very attentive and the bus boy didn't let me see my water or coffee less than half full. I think that the pancakes were my favorite food! I used to love this place until today. Was eating the potatoes I got with my scrambler and was horrified to find a DEAD COCKROACH!! It was a large adult size too. I vomited violently and felt sick afterwards. Who knows if I had eaten some. I called Katie's kitchen and talked to a manager. She asked me if I was sure if it wasn't a piece of onion...........She refunded me my Uber eats order but honestly I think the should've done more. If you are trying to find a good place to have breakfast/brunch in the Des Plaines area, this is the best place to eat at. Their dishes average about $11-13 and their portions are pretty large so you will almost likely bring some leftovers home! I got the special skillet from the special menu. They put apples in it which is very interesting and also with Brie cheese which was different. I got scrambled eggs on top of my skillet but it's best to get a sunny side up egg to get more of the creamy texture for your skillet. It comes with the choice of pancakes and toast too if you want something sweet to eat. If you want to go for something healthier and sweet, my friend got the oatmeal blackberry Apple pancakes and the texture is similar to a regular pancake but it's a little drier. read more

Extra special breakfast place that's intimate and has a lot of experience in serving the public under its belt. Their menu is yuge to the point of being mind boggling. It's the only place I've been to in this area that not only offers baked oatmeal but five versions of it. My husband and I are fans of Katie's Kitchen! The menu is different then most breakfast chains... it has Katie's touch which makes it really unique. The items on the menu are a bit on the pricier side for us... but we come here to treat ourselves. I highly recommend Katie's Crepes which is coated with walnut pieces and filled with cannoli filling, then topped with banana and Amaretto raspberry sauce. Yum! Oh wow, I had a great experience with this impromptu stop. I was in a hurry so I just asked at the counter for the persons favorites. I didn't take time to decide, just went with the first thing that sounded good in the section she pointed out. It was a steak and portobello dish - I think! The steak here was delicious, cut so easy with the plastic knife, and I would love to know what the marinade is. So very good. The rest of the dish was layered with mushrooms and onions on the bottom, scrambled eggs, and hash-browns on top. So good. I planned on hitting this place again on my way out of town but they are closed on Mondays. I will be back for sure on my next visit to the area. read more

Very disappointed in my last few experiences there. No reason to be yelled at when we politely ask for a table away from where the bus boys and wait staff come in and out. Other tables were open at the time. The wait staff is nice the new ones are not as nice. The cashier has never had pleasant attitude. I am being kind with my last statement. We heard so many good things about this restaurant, but we were disappointed. Went there this afternoon for brunch; my husband had the Huevos Ranchero for 18.50 and the skirt steak was so overcooked it looked black. I had the Brisket Nest which was like a cocoon. Very little brisket, again dry, overcooked and very little. A lot of hash browns covering the egg and meat. The place was very crowded and very warm. I was near the thermostat and it read 79.
