Amazing place!! Staff are caring and take the time to understand dog's needs. They did a great job with both my difficult dogs.

I wish I could give 2 different star ratings for the employees and the owner. My pup has been a customer there for over a year now. The groomer (well the one we had) was pleasant and professional. My dog always came home looking very nice. I am a busy mom of 7, a wife and a nurse. I missed an appointment we had as I forgot one of my children had a school concert to attend on a Saturday. I called the Katies once I realized I had missed the appointment to apologize and reschedule. The receptionist asked me to hold on. Then a lady got on the phone and immediately said, "This is Katie, are you not able to bring in your dog?" I stated I was not able to and explained why and apologized for not being able to. She than said are you aware of the cancellation fee? I stated I was not and had not been told about that. Very rudely she said the fee is the price of the cut. I was a little floored about this, but said okay, and asked if it is charged with the next cut. She continued to be very rude as if this was something I did all the time and told me that I would need to prepay for all the appointments moving forward. She didn't give a courtesy, she didn't say yes, you will need to pay a double charge next time, she was very rude. I told her thank you and hung up. She will NOT get another $$ of my hard earned money again. Zero customer service and she sounded like a mad hatter the way she was talking. I hope she doesn't treat all customers and employees like that. read more

It's taken me almost two years to muster up the courage to write this. My experience was less than average and we haven't been back. Having rescued a pup from a local shelter, we decided on Katie's for her first salon visit. We dropped her off and waited for the call. Staff was pleasant and helpful around check in. The call came earlier than expected, but we were excited to get her. Upon our arrival Stella was kenneled and barking loudly. After having her for a over week, this was the first time we had heard her bark. The situation itself was obviously stressful, but I don't blame the groomer for that. What annoyed me was, upon check out, Katie comes barreling up and sternly said to the worker, "DID YOU TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED!?" The young girl sheepishly shook her head no; while I'm looking at my dog, counting limbs and checking for wounds. I felt like it wasn't the first time she encountered this stern voice. Katie went on to tell me that she wasn't grooming my dog, but was paying her some love and attention and Stella snapped at her. She went on about her breed being easily overstimulated. (If you know this, why where you doing it?!) It made me feel very small and scolded, I felt terrible. Yet, the way the situation was handled with me was less than ideal. We were happy to leave, including the dog, and haven't been back. Additionally, Stella hasn't been "overstimulated" since. She's a sweet, quiet, peep of a pibble and Katie's wasn't for us. read more

Katie continually wanted to charge me an "extra" $20.00 for this or that. My yorkie was 7 months old when we started taking him to Katie's Dog Grooming. She quoted me a price and then when I went to pick up my yorkie, she charged me an extra $20.00 and said he nipped at the groomer. She wanted an extra $20.00 because my yorkie didn't like a bath. Then she told me the 3rd time I picked him up that if he nipped again it would be an extra $40.00 on his next grooming. Keep in mind he is a puppy and this is all new to him. Working with him for a minute would help get use to this process and charging me an extra $20.00 or $40.00 and having a horrible attitude toward me, the owner, did nothing to help my yorkie to ease into the grooming process. So sad this service had to be a bad experience for a puppy! read more

I have been taking my 10 year old Shih Tzu "puppy" to Katie's going on 5 years and I have never had an unpleasant experience. To say my sweet little boy is an anxious soul would be an understatement. However, since Missy has been grooming our little nugget, he no longer remains anxious after picking him up. In fact, he is calm and relaxed as we venture home or to the pet store. My dog is always well groomed, smells handsome, and super soft. The lady that works the front desk is always so pleasant and you can tell she really enjoys greeting the customers and their fur babies. read more

Clean facility and great groomers. I have been taking my dogs here for almost 10 years. My pets always come home looking fantastic. And most importantly they come home healthy and happy. Staff is friendly and caring. I have no worries when I drop my pets off. read more

This is a great locally owned place to get your dog groomed. I have a Shetland Sheepdog and have had her groomed several times. Katie's has definatly done the best job. I'll continue to go there for the life of the dog. New location has lots of parking. Easy to find too since it's right on the corner of 267 and US40 read more

When I moved back to Plainfield 2 years ago, I asked MANY people about where I should take my dog to have him groomed. The overwhelming majority stated "Katie's." I have a Mini Schnauzer who is prone to skin irritations/rashes after being groomed. Katie's Dog Grooming consistently does an excellent job grooming my schnauzbob. He always has a well-executed cut, with no skin irritation. They also refrain from using a lot of stinky sprays/colognes on him, which I really appreciate. On top of the excellent cut, my dog doesn't seem scared/traumatized when he goes into Katie's (like he has with other groomers in the Indy area). This signals to me that not only do they do their job proficiently, but they treat each animal with love & respect. read more

My wife took our boy Bandit in for grooming. First of all she took us in last minute, and the price was nearly half what some groomers want. We have never been to a Vets office, or groomers where he couldn't wait to get home. This was different, He didn't want to leave!!! She picked him up, and he was sleeping on the floor, not jammed in a cage. He LOVES Katie's Dog Grooming. We WILL be back!! read more

I have a 2 year old Newfoundland and this was his first time coming to the groomer. He did great and the staff did a great job grooming him. They had him looking exactly as I asked. He looked and smelled great, although we have one MAJOR problem. I noticed the day after he got back from the groomer, he came home with EAR MITES. He's never had ear mites in his life. At first later that day after picking him up from the groomer, I noticed he was shaking his head and scratching at his ears. Initially I assumed that maybe he had gotten water in his ears so thankfully I already had medicated eardrops that are antibacterial and anti-fungal. Unfortunately the eardrops did not help and he continue to scratch his ears and dark gooey buildup continued to come out of his ears. This led to a VET VISIT, which of course I had to pay for. Come to find he has ear mites now after leaving the groomer and I had to pay for medication for his ears. My dog takes try trifexis heartworm and flea medication and has never had ear mites in his life. So the facility obviously needs to be thoroughly clean from head to toe considering ear mites are currently in the facility. Additionally before allowing animals to come in for a grooming they should be checked to see if they take flea medication or have any ear mites or any other parasites that can harm other animals. When I picked my dog up he was in a kennel directly next to other dogs in kennels which can also cause problems like kennel cough and the transference of parasites fleas ticks and in this case ear mites. At this point I would like a restitution for my vet bills or a refund for the grooming service as we did not request ear mites at our appointment. Merry Christmas everyone. read more

When we moved to Plainfield two years ago we asked the local vet where might be a good place to get our Australian Shepherd groomed and they recommend Katie's. We've been going there ever since! Katie and her staff are so loving and friendly to our dog and I've always felt comfortable leaving her in their care. They do a great job of giving dogs their proper breed cut. I have an Australian Shepherd with bad aneixty, so I was nervous about how he would be at the groomers. I read a previous comment about a Katie's work with Aussies, so I made the appt. He looks AMAZING! Show Quailty if I do say myself. Plus my dog was happy to be there, and not traumatized in the slightest. Thanks Katie, you do great work with Aussies! read more

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. My poor baby Maggie was nicked in a couple spots and shaved to the skin with dull clippers resulting in razor burn all over her belly (oozing). They told us she had a tumor on her neck, but actually her skin was just so swollen from their care of her. I've had 3 poodles over the past 17 years and have never encountered this experience with any groomer and we've used lots over the years. Katie's was not really concerned if we came back or not and acted as if the razor burn was no big deal. Well, it was to me and the care of my beloved pet. read more

Today, I took my Chiweenie, Shelby, in for her first grooming at Katies. Shelby is a rescue from the Southside Animal Shelter, that I have had for nearly 2 1/2 years. I had always taken her to PetSmart for her grooming. I was not very happy with them, so decided to try Katies. I had been to Katies several years ago with a different dog, who has since passed away and I was content with her services. However, today, I'm not very happy with the services I received. Shelby is a long-haired Chiweenie (Dachshund/Chihuahua mix). We LIKE HER LONG HAIR!!! But with every single groomer I have taken her to, the groomer does WHAT THEY WANT TO DO, NOT WHAT I INSTRUCT!!! It is as if I don't matter and everything I say falls on deaf ears, including today. I specifically told the groomer to which she was assigned, that I wanted to keep her long hair, she only needed a bath, ears cleaned and as far as cutting and trimming I requested to only have the small area in the front of her ears trimmed and I had that part of the hair in my hand and showed the groomer what I was talking about. She needed her feet and pads completely trimmed, (hair, nails and filing). and of course the area around her bottom. Now when I picked her up, I was MORTIFIED!! I didn't say anything because they were busy, I actually really couldn't have a conversation as Katie was on the phone. Katie did not do the grooming, but I forgot the name of the person who did the actual grooming. I instructed the groomer that she did not need an actual haircut, only the three areas I instructed, along with a bath. When I picked her up, it was like she had been butchered!! She had a complete haircut! Her entire body and especially her head and face. I did not want this done, Period!! I don't understand why groomers cannot follow instructions!! It will take months for her hair to grow back out the way we like her hair to be. I guess I will have to find another groomer or do it myself. I sure would save my $50. It only cost me $32 at Petsmart! The more I look at my dog, the more upset I get. Her feet look good, the bath is good, her bottom hair is jagged like in several different lengths. Overall, I am just not happy. read more
