Pete is a year old now and confident around dogs of all sizes! His good socialization is due in part to Indy Hound's care. The dogs are able to play with each other and the staff from 7a-7p before being kenneled for the night. Pete has always come home happy (and TIRED which says a lot because Bostons have lots of energy). The staff are amazing, know us and Pete well, and he gets excited to go in when we get there. The peace of mind that he's well taken care of while we are away is priceless, but Indy Hound's prices are also affordable, and they have add on services like baths and nail trims, which is very convenient. THEY SHAVED MY POMERANIAN TO THE SKIN AND IT WON'T GROW BACK!!…read more I had previously taken my Pomeranian to the Brownsburg location for grooming and never had any issues. They meticulously kept notes on the length of all haircuts. I had to book a grooming session at their Danville location because Brownsburg was booked. They pulled up all of his grooming notes from previous haircuts at Brownsburg and we had agreed that there was no matting and to do a trim that wouldn't be shorter than a few inches. After 4 hours, I received a call from the groomers in Danville saying they were still working on him. They mentioned that there was a little bit of matting on his belly so they'd have to cut that area a little shorter. Other than that, they said his haircut was coming along good. Upon arrival, the groomers brought out my dog that had been COMPLETELY SHAVED DOWN TO THE SKIN across his ENTIRE body. They handed him over smiling saying how good he looked. I was in such shock and did everything not to cry. They offered to bring out the groomer, but I was already running late to catch my flight so I declined. I later sent them a message expressing my disgust with their service. Never received any response from them and have yet to hear back from them. ANYONE who is a basic groomer knows that there are certain breeds whose hair you NEVER shave. This includes Pomeranians. In the past, his hair has gotten pretty matted after swimming in the pool all summer. I've ALWAYS had groomers call me explaining why they wanted to shave down his hair and ALWAYS had to sign an agreement giving them consent to do so. Even at his worst matting phase, they NEVER EVER thought it was ok to shave his hair down straight to the skin. This haircut was back in July. It has now been 5 months and there are major patches on my dog where the hair has not grown back at all. His entire coat is permanently damaged and will never grow back the same. We have tried coconut oil, medication, cbd, etc. Nothing seems to grow it back. To top it off, when he was shaved down to his skin, it was in the middle of July so he suffered from very bad sunburns as his skin was fully exposed for months. Friends and family have recommended I take legal action since his coat has been destroyed and they have refused to respond or make any effort to correct their poor decisions. I wanted to wait a few months to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe the shaving wouldn't be so damaging. But seeing that his coat is so damaged and still not growing back in massive chunks, I felt it was time to share how terrible of a job they did.

She has regular bath/grooming sessions there as well. As such, we have had the opportunity to get to know most of the Uptown Team throughout the years, from the day care staff to management to trainers, and they have been nothing but caring, supportive, knowledgable and accommodating. She is always clearly happy and excited to see them, no matter which staff member it is, when we drop her off. When our dog was younger we tried out a few other day care businesses to see what was out there, and Uptown Pup was the only place where we felt our dog was cared for and received an individual focus; each Uptown staffer truly cares about the dogs' well-being and wants each one to flourish. Our dog has anxiety issues, particularly with loud noises such as thunderstorms and fireworks, and Uptown has consistently gone above and beyond to help her with this, including taking her aside from her group to relax and hang out during day care. During her boarding stays the staff has also paid extra attention to make sure she was comfortable. She also has a food allergy and a sensitive stomach, and the staff always remains cognizant of this and makes sure she avoids certain types of treats/foods when she's there. These are just a few examples of the care that Uptown takes for clients. For anyone deciding whether to entrust Uptown Pup with their day care, boarding, training or grooming needs, this probably sums it up best: we wouldn't just recommend Uptown Pup - we wouldn't take our dog anywhere else BUT Uptown Pup.

I took my pup in for his first day. Upon entering and saying it was his first day they didn't really ask any questions just had me fill out a form (that I had already filled out online) and asked what time I would pick him up. The other daycare we've tried did an evaluation day and gave some more strict guidelines (drop off at 9 to ensure full staff is there, only took one new puppy a day to encourage socialization, started as 4hrs but would extend to full day depending on how they got along...) I had previously spoken to someone very kind and personable on the phone. This person was obviously not working the front desk when I came in. I dropped him off around 8am and around 11:15am got a call that he wasn't "interested in group play and kept showing stress signs". I found this extremely odd because my puppy is always a big fan of playing. With dogs of ALL sizes. He has gone to another doggy daycare and at the end of a full day he comes out so excited and then sleeps for hours because of how much he plays. I take him to a small group puppy training and he plays with all the other puppies the whole time. When I picked him up they spoke about how he just wanted to play with the trainer and cried when he left the area. I'm not dog training expert but I know that there are ways to help prevent this and manage it rather than just dismissing a 6 month old puppy that is still learning.I then believe instead of leaving him in with the other puppies to continue working on the socialization they just put him in a crate until I was able to pick him up. The vibe within the front desk area when I picked him up just didn't sit right with me. I look forward to taking him back to a daycare that I know he enjoys. I used Alternative pet sitters 3 times after my son left for college, and I had no alternative but to hire out pet sitting when I left town. the first 2 times were 3 day weekends and all seemed to go well. The 3rd time we left for 6 days. Upon our return we found a dry as the desert automatic watering bowl. It was only necessary to fill the 1 gallon water bowl twice during the duration of our absence, and Alternative Pets wasn't able to accomplish this. The 3 mainstays of pet service are Feeding, Watering, and Walking, & Alternative Pet services failed to complete these 3 basics. DO NOT LEAVE YOU PET IN THEIR CARE!
