They had some birds on viewing in a little aviary, a little ride-on toy, and several sturdy (aka not easily broken) toys for them to tinker with. As we checked out for the day, the woman at the counter even invited them to grab a free little trinket animal. They're a very family friendly stop, and I trust that the rest of the staff exercises wonderful customer service as well. They also had a good selection of tools, fertilizers, soils, mulch etc. !

Lots of parking which I always love. Walking in I immediately saw the pretty birds in the 'aviary' up front. It was nicely decorated and featured a type of dove, finches and another type of bird. They're so colorful and cute. Lots of gift items and accessories for the garden distracted me. So he went in search of the fertilizer while I looked around. Adorable pot holders im shapes of owls, rabbits and frogs amongst other. A blinding array of seed packets. A little corner of clearance items. Wind chimes, metal decorations and so many other things I didn't have time to see. The greenhouse area had different types of plants, seedlings and soil. Unfortunately they were sold out of what we were looking for but it was fun to see all the other things. Sorely tempted to swing by and pick up some of the animal shaped pot holders. As we approached the entrance the owner met us and refused to let us carry the dog thru the store while we shopped. I understand its a business, however its a greenhouse and there was ONE customer in the store. We both spend hundreds of dollars on plants a year as we both love to garden and we will NEVER shop here again or recommend her shop. Very disappointed in the approach and customer service at this store.

Prices on some items were a little higher than expected, but given they're local, I didn't mind paying a bit extra--it feels good to support nearby farmers and makers. That said, there are a few things I'd probably skip. One thing to note: they add a $1 fee for card transactions, so if you want to avoid that, bring cash!

If I understand, The Big Garden is responsible for getting them in the ground, so to speak. The Big Garden has developed over 150 local gardens and offers a wide array of services. I have been to a few workshops and plant sales this year. They usually take on some interns come summertime and this year there will be 8 full time eager gardeners. The location allows for so much knowledge and that gets shared with local schools where the kids may see more guns than plants. This spot provides a great respite from those spots. From foraging salads, mushrooms and saving seeds to offering started plants and infinite wisdom, this is the spot. They are Non Profit so when you come by, please drop a few buck their way. In my lifetime, I know what I learn here will be more valuable than currency!
