Friday, 10-10-2025: Once again I opted to visit with Dr. Joo in person instead of over the phone since she is my favorite doctor. I was here to discuss the results of my current blood test. Both she and I were happy that it yielded signs of major improvement. Due to Dr. Joo's absolute & diligent care and expertise I have lost over 40 lbs & other areas displayed a remarkable move in the right direction. The only downside was my cholesterol remains high. I cannot tolerate statins so she suggested Repatha, which Tricare approved. I love engaging in discourse with her because she's so attentive and so interesting. I owe her so much for helping me improve my health. Good healthcare is a true collaborative process and I'm grateful to her for the milestones we have achieved. She is a consummate professional who is also so warm & caring! These are qualities of a superb doctor. Ignore the horrendous reviews and give her an honest, fair chance. You will be happy you did! Wow. Just saw Dr Joo's response to my review. Before my appointment, I called her office and asked what should I bring with for a first osteoporosis consultation. The receptionist said they take care of the records. Then at the appointment Dr Joo told me I should have brought all my records in a file. I need to reschedule. Second appointment I am prescribed w medication for osteoporosis. Turns out these meds are blood pressure lowering, apparently the doctor didn't read my file, that I am already taking blood pressure medication. After 2 weeks of unpleasant low blood pressure symptoms my PCP saw what the problem was. I asked Dr Joo not to charge me for the additional appointment since I was misinformed by her receptionist. This is why Dr Joo is making all these rude comments on my refusal to pay for 2 appointments. Apparently this office is too basic to subscribe to the medical records services, plus incompetent staff makes the whole records process a bigger pain than it should be. Since then I have found excellent, professional care. If you have to, see an endocrinologist in other parts of the state through telemedicine, there are really great ones. It's hard enough to come down with a serious medical condition, no need to be put through this abuse by an arrogant and greedy doctor who really should go on psychiatric retirement sadly. read more

Every 1 star review is spot on. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! This "doctor" is beyond terrible. I received a discharge letter, stating for reasons of posting a negative review. The negative review is 100% factual, and was an opportunity for her to reflect and improve her business practices, but instead of acknowledging and trying to be better, it's easier for her to just get rid of everyone. Same thing happened to another yelp reviewer in the last couple weeks, and everything in that review was 100% consistent with my experience with this "doctor". To Kathy Joo: find another line of work, as we deserve to be cared about by our medical providers. Your business and responses to negative reviews are incredibly unprofessional, and nobody deserves to be treated the way you do. **UPDATE ** Trust me, the last thing I wanted was for you to be my endo after reading all the terrible reviews, but unfortunately for me, you were the only option within 50 miles. I will happily drive as far as necessary to not have to deal with your inferiority complex. It's not a surprise that 90% of your reviews are 1 star (and I'm sure they would be zero star, if that was an option) and every single review has basically the same context.... that you are TERRIBLE. I saw Dr. Joo for a number of years and now I have to see her again because of some problems. I don't understand the negative reviews at all. I recently literally begged her office to let me return because I was afraid that since it'd been 3 or 4 years since I had last seen her, she might not be able to accomodatet me. I'm thrilled that I can see her. She is totally on top of her game, and I've never had a doctor as prepared as she is for her appointments. She does not waste the patient's time by reading their file in front of them and then winging it in her analysis and recommendations. She is one of very few doctors that I trust. I've never written a review in my life on anything. I've been t1 diabetic since I was 12 years old and have had a hand full of doctors over the years. Kathy is THE WORST most RUDE woman ever. The staff is trash too. I've tried for weeks calling and it just rings doesn't even give you the chance to leave a voice mail. It's important for me to get my medication but she won't answer her damn phone so I can make an appointment with her! When she does answer she's incredibly rude! Don't waste your time here find a great caring endocrinologist that cares just A LITTLE BIT L and has a SMALL relationship with their patients. This is the worst doctor office ever and worst front desk ever, the lady that works as receptionist is rude, unprofessional and not helpful, she threaten me, she stopped answering my call for my diabetes medication, even tho I been there for almost 2yrs, and been using the same medication, she sent it to a different pharmacy and she threaten me, I cant help you anymore if you call one more time, we will schedule an appointment so they can charge the insurance, and Dr Kathy support her and protect her . Then my mother called the girl on the phone told my mom to call medicare to get approval. She never submitted for anything through Medicare. She never called in the prescription. My mom called back and the girl on the phone said she had no record of the phone call and didn't know what my mom was talking about, then got angry and told my mother she is the one who needed to call medicare. As it turns out the doctor never sent in a prescription never sent in any diagnosis codes or use instructions or anything else. This is going on now for 4 months. Joo, is cut throat dry. Doesn't butter anything up, not personal at all. I told her I moved out of the county and only came out to see her, she told me to find another endocrinologist in my area. Fine, probably should have done that before her staff screwed me over. It's been a year and half and I get a phone call saying I have a bill past due. Called the staff and they claimed it is not in their responsibility or duties to call and collect a debt. They sent three invoices to an old address. Very rude and also all very air headed. Multiple times I've had to call and request appts or info on certain testing and all phone calls the receptionist forgot or never bothered to ask the doctor. After moving from Orange County I tried several Endocrinologists in the Temecula & Murrieta area. Finally I found Dr Kathy Joo and from the beginning she was able to stabilized my Thyroid issues due to Hashimoto's disease. I highly recommend Dr Joo. Let me begin by saying that if I could give ZERO stars I would. My primary care physician Dr. Soto informed me of an abnormal thyroid test result back at the end of September. I received a referral for Dr. Kathy Joo. I contacted Dr. Kathy Joo's office around Oct 12th and was told by her front office staff member Lupita that she needed to check with the doctor about my referral and took down my information telling me she would call me back within a day. Three days later I received no call back so I proceeded to call the office again. Lupita took down my information again and said she has no other information other than she needs to check with the doctor. I waited again. Another 3 days went by and so I called Dr. Kathy Joo's office. Lupita now proceeds to tell me the lab work she received from my doctor's office is insufficient and the doctor will need a thyroid function test before I can be seen. I went to the lab the next morning and got this test done. I called Dr. Joo's office 5 days after the test was done, to give her plenty of time to receive and review the results. Lupita again proceeds to take down my information and tell me she has to talk to Dr. Joo. I asked her what is the turn-time as I have been waiting at this point for 2 weeks for an appointment. She cannot provide me an answer. I proceeded to call my medical group and file a complaint. The medical group contacted Dr. Kathy Joo's office while I was on hold with them and the customer service woman came back to the line to tell me they cannot bypass the office procedures set up by Dr. Joo. So again I waited. I waited a week and called Dr. Joo's office once again. Lupita proceeded to take down my information again. No call back again. Called two days later, again Lupita takes down my information. Called again the next day, now Lupita takes down my information, puts me on hold, comes back and tells me that because I filed a complaint with the medical group I will not be seen by Dr. Joo. The lack of professionalism, communication and caring is beyond me. I have been waiting to be seen by a specialist for well over a month and have done everything that has been asked of me. Meanwhile these doctors have incompetent staff and do not provide the care they took an oath for. I highly recommend you read the other reviews on here which clearly point out that this office and doctor should be shut down! read more

Nice doctor, rude receptionist/staff. I requested additional blood tests and they said they'd call me back. They didn't so I called again and they said no and to ask my primary care doctor. I asked to speak to the doctor about my condition and she said no. I asked why and she said "she's busy with other patients" in a very rude tone. Healthcare is supposed to be supportive. Lack of empathy and patience are NOT good healthcare. People are dealing with difficult health issues and if the doctor can't take a few minutes to talk to a patient to explain why they're doing things a certain way then I'll find another place that's more supportive. read more

Without question the worst experience I have ever had with any medical professional. Dr Joo is incredibly arrogant and does not listen to or care about her patients in my experience. Why misanthropic people like this go into medicine I've no idea. But when you come across them run don't walk to a better alternative. In addition to her lack of professionalism and frigid bedside manner her front of house staff are entirely incompetent. Not once did a prescription get filled correctly on time. They also lied to me repeatedly about the Drs availability. Below a summary of my last encounter with 'Dr' Joo... As of last Monday I learned that I had tested positive for Covid 19. I am attaching the results from labcorp. I spoke to a Dr from the Riverside County health department and was told to quarantine for two weeks. She asked me about my health and so forth and I told her that I was taking both thyroid medicine and was doing Testosterone replacement therapy. She told me that I should continue with both of these treatments as usual. She said that they may well both help me fight off the infection and it would be bad to stop taking them while sick. Accordingly I checked to see where I was up to with my prescriptions. I ascertained that I had 4 days of the thyroid medication left at home and was out of the testosterone. I checked with Walgreens and neither prescription was ready for renewal. Per the Drs instructions I called Dr Joo, my endocrinologist, to request a two week supply of both so that I could wait out the quarantine period. The last time I spoke to her she said quite reasonably that she wanted me to take a blood test after two months (which would due be now) before redoing the prescriptions. I was and am on board with her logic in this regard. However the Covid situation changed this dynamic. Obviously I am not supposed to leave the house let alone go get blood work done until I am cleared. Hence my request for a two week supply. I spoke to her front desk person who I have dealt with in the past with extremely mixed results by way of background. Not once during my two year engagement with Dr Joo have my prescriptions been promptly or accurately relayed to my Pharmacy. The blame is always placed by Dr Joo on Walgreens. However I have never had this issue with your office Dr Danesh. Not once. Regardless, I told her assistant that I needed to get a two extension on my prescriptions. She told me that Dr. Joo would not do this until I had a blood test. Obviously this presented a problem. I asked to speak to Dr Joo who I could hear in the background to bring her up to date with the new development vis a vis my Covid statues. I figured this would resolve the situation as she obviously was not aware of this new development. The front desk tried to stonewall me 3 or 4 times and lied to me. She said Dr Joo was not available. However given the directives I received from the Dr at the Riverside County health department I was insistent about speaking to Dr Joo. All of a sudden, contrary to what I'd been told in terms of her availability she jumped on the phone. Only to yell at me about not giving her staff a hard time. I tried to explain to her the situation. She refused to listen and hung up on me. I called back and she screamed at me. Saying that I was abusing the testosterone which is absolutely untrue and said it would not "kill me" to go without the prescription. I was of course primarily calling about the thyroid medication. She said that it WAS available at Walgreens and it was again their fault that they would not release the prescription she then hung up on me again. Her position was that she would not help me despite my Covid status until I got bloodwork done. She was intent on holding me hostage essentially in the interim as if I could not be trusted to get the test otherwise. This is an entirely accurate recounting of the situation and I believe as I think anyone reasonable would that I was treated incredibly badly by her and with complete disregard for my health and reasonable proper medical procedure. To be clear, I absolutely want to get the blood work done. I JUST AM NOT ABLE TO WHILE HAVING COVID 19. It would be negligent of me to even leave the house, let alone go get blood work. All I asked for was a 2 week extension on my prescription so that I could wait out the two weeks and THEN get the blood work done per her advice. Also to be clear I always followed her directives in the past in regards to blood work and the testosterone. I want to be as healthy as possible and am only interested in normalizing my testosterone levels. I am letting you know this because unless Dr Joo is willing to apologize and rectify her mistakes here I will need a referral to a new endocrinologist. I will plan on reporting her conduct to the authorities also. read more

Dr Joo is a greedy woman who cares more about money than her patients. If it isn't billable don't expect her to do it-- she won't call you to answer questions bc she can't bill your insurance. She has her secretary (who is not a doctor or nurse or any sort of licensed professional) call you instead. And her employees always look terrified of her. As expressed by others I would leave a zero rating if permitted. Please if you are thinking about going to this person (I refuse to call her doctor), read these reviews Out of 23 review only 6 were positive. That is not a good record. Here's my story... Per my PC's referral, I began seeing Joo for treatment for my diabetes. I advised her that my PC doctor recommend a slow carb diet. Her immediate response was that she is not a dietician and did not want to discuss anything around diet. She prescribed 500mg Metformin. She said to start with a 1/1 regimen...1 pill in morning before breakfast and 1 pill at bedtime; then to increase it to 2/3 regimen. I neglected to ask her how long she wanted me on the 1/1 plan, so I called later that day. Her Medical Assistant, Mary, did not want to disturb the doctor so she recommended I stay on 1/1 for one week. I did not tolerate the medication optimally (occasional bouts of diarrhea, upset stomach, headaches); but it was not consistent so I dealt with it. After being on the 2/3 combination for about 6 days, I experienced lightheadedness two days in a row. I felt like I needed to eat something right away or I would faint. The second day was particularly bad as I really felt like I was going to pass out. I had taken my blood sugar levels before eating breakfast and it was 148. I took again after feeling lightheaded and before eating and it was 114. It had dropped in a matter of two hours. After the second event (Friday, April 2), I was scared so I called the office. Her MA (Mary) took notes which included my experiences over the past two days, my previous intolerances with the meds and my concern that my blood levels might be dropping too fast/too low. However, I made it clear that I was no expert and that was why I was calling. I was promised a phone call back before the day ended. When I didn't hear anything after several hours, I called again. The MA told me that Joo's notes said..."low blood sugar is under 50." THAT'S IT. So, then I asked what I should do regarding the meds. The MA's response after consulting Joo's notes again was, "If the medication is making you sick, stop taking it." I said ok but I'm concerned about abruptly stopping the medication because in the leaflet provided it says not to. I asked for clarification from the doctor. First, can I safely stop taking the medication cold turkey or should I wean myself off by going back to 1/1 regimen. Secondly, is this feeling of passing out normal when taking this medication or is there perhaps something else wrong. I was promised a call back that day but never received one. To make this long story short, I called back Monday thru Thursday everyday the next week. Each time I was given uncomfortable excuses by the Mary (medical assistant)...the doctor has not sent any new notes (apologetically), the doctor is too busy to respond, you can come in for another appt. and ask your questions. On Thursday (the last day I called), Jessica, the front end receptionist refused to let me speak to the MA and she told me that I would be receiving a letter of discharge. The letter of discharge stated that I was being dropped from further care due to "our inability to maintain rapport" and that she found that "the physician-patient relationship no longer exists." Allow me to assure you that a rapport was never established as both times that I saw her it was for maybe 15 minutes total. The bottom line is that this doctor refuses to answer questions asked by patients. PLEASE, PLEASE take the time to read all of her Yelp reviews. Most have similar stories. Furthermore, upon your first visit you are given a pamphlet of her office procedures and policies none of which are patient oriented. If you forget to ask her for a refill at the time of your appointment you are charged $25. This doctor is narcissistic and obviously doesn't like when her patients insist on professional treatment. She would rather drop you as a patient than answer a couple more questions. I had even asked Mary to just ask her face to face instead of going to the computer to type in notes. Both Mary and Jessica were accommodating at first but they have obviously been trained well not to bother the doctor. By the end it was obvious that they were not truthful with the reality of what was going on....the doctor's refusal to answer questions. This doctor should be investigated for her mistreatment or lack of treatment towards her patients....which in my humble opinion borders on malpractice. read more

Dr Joo has gotten me on the road towards treatment I have needed for a decade! I hope to have a beneficial impact so I choose to share a bit beyond a typical review: What are the effects on our bodies of 'Heavy Metal Toxicity'? I attended my first appointment and was told my blood test 'hormone test results were unreliable because the blood test MUST be drawn before 7:45am this was a BIG aHA for me. After doing blood test in the Super early morning (apparently required for hormones) and a uncomfortable ultrasound... I am on my way to Testosterone hormone gel. Not only did she not ever ask what symptoms I was experiencing, and there were PLENTY, she looked at numbers only, had me get another round of blood testing, and then had her office assistant CALL me on the phone to say "You have Graves Disease"! No follow up, no treatment, no discussion, over and out! Didnt even ask if I KNEW what Graves disease was, I do though from reading several books on thyroid. Bottom line, got a referral to another doctor up in Riverside, more blood testing, I am NOT hyperthyroid, do NOT have "Graves Disease" either. I am at the "beginning stages" of Hashimotos Disease. terrible receptionist, completely incompetent. scheduled my appointment for my regular check up, when i needed to reschedule due to my lab work not being ready yet they told me there would be a $30 cancellation fee for cancelling within 24 hours....only thing is i called to reschedule on a Wednesday at 11am and my appointment was on Thursday at 2pm, more than 24 hours!!!!!! Even though the policy clearly states 24 hours she would not reschedule unless i paid $30 for cancelling. As for Dr. Joo, Only reason I went back to her is because my other dr. moved away. If I could give 0 I would. I have been dealing with some unknown health issues. After seeing multiple doctors for medical issues I am experiencing, and based on my history of hypothyroidism, I was encouraged by 3 different specialist doctors to visit an endocrinologist. My primary care doctor referred me to this office since I was seen there a few years ago. The doctor refused to see me saying the referral was written wrong initially and then that my bloodwork was within normal range after the paperwork was changed. I called on multiple occasions and the office staff was extremely rude and showed no care or sympathy to the fact that her doctor was refusing care regardless of what my primary care and multiple specialist were suggesting. In all my years with dealing with health care for myself and my loved ones, have I EVER been refused care without even being seen for an initial visit to discuss what was occurring and why my doctor felt the need to refer me. This doctor obviously is not in the business to support patients who suffer from thyroid issues. I am excited to say I found an amazing doctor right down the street who was happy to provide an initial visit to discuss what is going on to get to the root cause. Dr. Joo has been my endocrinologist for the past three years. I first went for thyroid nodules and now have clinical Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Dr. Joo handles everything from the management of the effectual dosage of synthroid; the careful monitoring of nodules and keeping on going referrals ready for follow up and monitoring. I have nothing but confidence in this office to help me stay on top and successfully manage my disease. read more

This doctor is on coast (counting the days to retirement). She isn't a bad doctor but she doesn't follow through TO BE SURE what her staff is communicating on her behalf. Because she is not paying attention I was told to skip my prescripted dose of a medicine. I was told to stop the medication I was on for many years (by her staff because she was busy). The staff told me to wait a month with no medication and see if I actually need the drug. I asked the staff if this is what the doctor said and they said she was bust but that is what she wanted. I emailed the doctor and told her what the staff told me and she blamed me for the miscommunication. But since I was in the medical field for twenty plus years I knew better than what the staff told me. The doctor then corrected the problem by getting approved through the insurance company what the problem was (it took a phone call) but then sent me a letter dismissing me as a patient. They didn't want to see me anymore. Doctors can't do that legally, but since I put a ripple in her water she didn't want me around. Let me count the days to retirement... If you want a doctor that does all the standard things she is probably fine (diabetes). But whatever you do, dont ask her to do any more than the minimum. i will say this: Pay attention and you may learn something about diabetes and your overall well-being. I am satisfied with Dr Joo... I've had many Endocrinologists, over the past 20+ years and Dr. Joo ranks 4 stars with mel. You're either interested in everything other than your health or you're like most of us who follow the rule... "No one takes better care of you, than you." Everything isn't perfect and my time is as valuable as the next person... but I do understand and forgive the mistakes of others (as I hope they forgive mine) and don't forget the time restraints on doctors. read more

I am type 2 diabetic on insulin. I have been seeing Dr. Joo for about 6 years, I find her personable, she always answers all my questions and is patient. I never have to wait more than 15 minutes in her waiting room which I find very refreshing. Their office calls me to set an appointment approximately every 4 months if I haven't called them first, they recently moved and contacted me by phone to let me know their new location. I would recommend Dr. Joo to anyone that needed an Endocrinologist. read more

I am only giving them a one because there is no zero. I was referred by my OBGYN to see her because my thyroid was swollen. I called to make an appointment and was asked if I had insurance. I gave them my insurance information and they said they would call me back to schedule my appointment. I never received a call back so I called again and they said they hadn't confirmed my insurance. I asked why my insurance wasn't confirmed yet? They said the only one that confirms is the actually Dr. Your telling me a Dr. takes time out of her day to call insurance to confirm. They had no sense of urgency and with that being said I told them she isn't the right Dr for me. The girl must of thought I was born yesterday to believe that. Fast forward the next day, I went to my primary Dr. and was telling her what happened. Sadly, she said she had received the same or similar complaint from another patient. I called my OBGYN and he will no longer be referring Dr. Joo to any of his patients. read more

Awful to work with. First had a referral to see her....to a couple weeks to get in. When you are sick...that is a long time. Now it's two day short of two weeks and I am still waiting on my lab results. They are in the office, but Dr. Joo hasn't read them yet. This place is a joke, I called to make an appointment and they wouldn't make me one cause my labs were normal. No kidding I am on Meds to keep it normal. I am also a cancer patient but they didn't seemed concerned with that. read more

I was very concerned about seeing this doctor after reading the negative comments. Maybe the bad reviews have something to do the patient's attitudes. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Dr. Joo was professional and thorough, making sure I understood everything and answering my questions without the usual "medicalise) after the exam. I went to see her after an ultrasound showed a nodule on the thyroid, too small to be palpated externally, so she referred me for a needle biopsy. I would not hesitate to see this doctor again. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! If I could I would give this office zero stars. Horribly incompetent staff. Their mannerisms are rude and uncaring for the patients, and in my personal experience, they are NOT knowledgeable about anything they are doing in the office. I needed an endocrinologist for hormone replacement therapy, and at the initial intake session, everything seemed to be running decently. The staff and doctor were not compassionate or friendly people, but I was relieved to be getting the treatment and medication I needed. Skip forward two months after my last appointment, and they suddenly claim that my insurance denied my appointments. After calling my insurance, it was discovered the office has filed the claim incorrectly. I told the office this information back in OCTOBER and it is not December. The claim was never filed correctly, and the endocrinologist's office has now refused me an appointment and medication. When I called to reconfirm with the office that my insurance directly told me I had zero patient responsibility for the bill because it was THE OFFICE'S ERROR, the told me I was no longer allowed to call them. Horrible office, do not ever give these incompetent and curt people your time, I promise it will only give you a headache in the future. read more

Had appointment as new patient. Appt. was for Friday, Sept 4th at 3:00pm. Called office at 10:00AM on Sept. 3rd to reschedule. Was told by receptionist I would be charged a $30.00 late cancellation fee. I will find another Endocrinologist. I was not told of cancellation policy when original appt. was made. read more

INCOMPETENT STAFF!!! Staff is rude and unable to answer questions. Dr. doesn't take time to explain anything. Only cares about what lab work says. Dr. has a very cut and dry attitude. I've had Thyroid Cancer in the past and my lab work was elevated. After 5 days of calling office and asking to have a question answered about my lab work by the dr., I was repeatedly told that a message would be left for the doctor. No one ever called to answer my question. I expressed my frustration with the staff member and all she said was that she would leave a message for the doctor AGAIN. She asked if I wanted to make an appointment and I told her no and that I just wanted my question to be answered. She said she would leave a message. To date, I've never had my question answered. I understand doctors are busy, but how long does it take to look at lab work and have a staff member call with an answer? read more
