I can honestly say that I have not been this impressed by a new restaurant in SA in a long time. We had dined at the Mexican restaurant that was here prior to Katerina Restaurant and we could tell that the owners put a lot of thought into the new design and decor. We were immediately greeted by a hostess and we requested to sit at in the bar area, which was quite spacious and had comfortable chairs. I immediately noticed a beautiful "atrium" type area with a custom table surrounding a tree that had plenty of natural lighting. I loved the leather placemats and menu holders, very classy. The happy hour was spectacular with $8 drink offerings and discounts on select appetizers. We tried the artichoke white bean dip which was served w/fresh veggies (carrots, pickled onions, broccoli, zucchini, celery, and radish) and crostini. We also ordered the potato croquettes which were drizzled w/sour cream and onion dip. I had a Moscow Mule and Cucumber Martini, while my husband had Pinot noir and cab wine to accompany our appetizers. We were amazed by the quality of the food/drinks and flavor combinations. If you are a peanut butter lover, you must try the maple peanut butter pie. The service was exceptional and several staff came by to check on us and ask how our dining experience was going. The restaurant was so clean and the restrooms were spotless. We will return to try more dishes and drinks!

1st visit. Party of 2. Thursday 6pm for happy hour. Place was packed inside and out. Hung out at the outside bar since no no seats available. Didn't know reservations accepted. Fab happy hour specials. Live music on patio. Posh vibe. Busy parking lot. Service staff overwhelmed that day.

Brussels Sprouts appetizer

Tried Katerina for the first time yesterday, and I was very impressed by the atmosphere. The layout, high ceilings, and decor were modern, fresh, but also warm and welcoming. The music was eclectic but appropriate. We tried the smoked salmon polenta appetizer and that was 10/10 for what it was. The polenta was crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, which contrasted the fresh cool smoked salmon and sauce on top. We also got the Brussels sprouts appetizer and that was a 9/10. I think a little salt would've gone a long way but the seasonings and sauce made me change my feelings towards Brussels sprouts. We then ordered the wild mushroom pizza and that was cooked perfectly. I think the goat cheese was (as it should be) very strong so I asked our server, Christian, for a side of honey and after he brought it out, that pizza became a 10/10. Unfortunately, the weakest part of the menu that was ordered was the butternut squash gnocchi. It was dry, the butternut squash was underwhelming while the pecorino cheese was overwhelming, so it was very salty while being bland. I would recommend adding something sweet to balance it out, like cooking the squash in maple or adding a fruit or something. Maybe some almonds for a little crunch. But yea sadly it was a 3/10. We were celebrating a birthday, so they provided a free dessert of our choice and we went with the lemon tart. It was delicious, well balanced and came with a candle. They did a lot to try to please us, and I was thankful that our server didn't constantly come to our table. When he did come, it was to be efficient, even picking up so food that fell from our plates to keep the table clean. Overall we had a great experience, but we preferred getting the shareables. They have some room to grow, and I will definitely be back.

Finally tried Katerina Restaurant. Went during happy hour (4pm-7pm) around 4:30, no reservation needed, no wait which was great. They have outside and inside seating. The restaurant itself is very nice. The food was just ok, nothing too special. We ordered the smash burger (not pictured) which was good, nothing to rave about though. We also had the short rib grilled cheese (pictured) there was too much going on here. The cheese they used and the meat did not go well together. For a place that's considered "upscale," the service was disappointing. The waiter was not attentive at all and rarely checked in on us. Cucumber martini was ok as well.

We came here on a whim to check out the new spot and give their happy hour a try. (Only available in bar/patio area) We sat outside since the weather was absolutely perfect! They had some live music going and the energy was great! We ordered several items from the happy hour menu which were all really great! Olives and nuts - sounds simple, but the olives have this amazing orange citrus infusion with zest and orange slice which really elevated it from just olives, to a lovely refreshing palate cleanser. White bean hummus - delicious! The grilled bread they serve with it is so good, the char on the bread adds such a great flavor. The raw veggies were colorful, crisp, and paired perfectly. Potato croquettes- these are 10/10 so good! I could eat about 3 orders of these! They are light and fluffy, not dense, excellent flavor, perfect crunch! Wagyu meatballs- these things are insane! The flavor, texture, sweet potato puree, crunch from the picked red onions . . . This is a work of art! I think next time I go I'll stuff this inside a potato croquette! House beads- these were a nice touch, though it came out after our appetizers. You get two types of bread with a small white bean hummus. It was a bit dense but possibly because it wasn't hot? Stone Oak Salad - the salad was okay, very light and simple with greens, cranberry, and apple. The vinaigrette did lack "oomph." It tasted mostly like plain olive oil. Old Fashioned- this was nice, basic, stick to the original recipe drink. Great cocktail for $8 The service was friendly but slow. Lots of table mix ups, the staff was very apologetic, they were all just trying to remember to the best of their ability. The restaurant is gorgeous, the decor is beautiful inside and out. Even the detail in the bathroom is amazing. I just went for snacks at happy hour, but I'll definitely go back for an actual entree soon. Though the happy hour menu is great, the full menu is pricey. I'm looking first to returning!

After seeing the hype on social I wanted to love Katerina but unfortunately it fell a bit short for me. The ambiance and decor and layout are absolutely amazing. It looks so chic and love how elements of nature are woven intentionally into the layout. For food, my friend and I ordered the meatballs as an appetizer that were very delicious and I would definitely order again. It was a great combo of flavors. For my entree I went with the Braised Beef Short Rib (one of my favorite and go-to dishes when Im dining out) I wanted to love this but the cut was tough and overcooked to the point that neither its sauce or the parsnip puree could salvage it and I only ended up eating about half of the cut. The restaurant was also packed (a good sign for the owners since it was a Tuesday evening no less) and I think our server was stretched a little thin as we would go long stretches without seeing him at times. Dinner at Katerina was a mixed bag for me BUT their happy hour menu caught my eye so I'll definitely be back to give that a try but I think I'll be skipping on dinner service for now.

A vibrant and elegant atmosphere for all kinds of festive celebrations :) !

We visited this new restaurant just last Saturday, and it was amazing :D ! My sister wanted to treat me to a belated birthday dinner :) ! So I figured it would be nice to check out Katerina's, which opened about a month ago in the Stone Oak area of San Antonio :) ! We loved their smoked salmon and crab cake appetizers, as well as their braised beef and jumbo shrimp with homemade pasta :D ! Their signature carmelized cake with ice cream, and their maple peanut butter pie were absolutely delicious too :D ! The atmosphere is absolutely perfect for small groups or large parties and the ambiance makes for great conversation :) ! If you want to come on a Friday or the weekend, I would recommend making a reservation through Open Table or directly with the restaurant, especially for reservation slots between 5 to 7 pm! There happened to be a wedding reception there last Saturday :) ! And it looked like there were multiple birthday celebrations going on :) ! For couples who want to celebrate an anniversary, this restaurant is absolutely elegant and inviting for that purpose too :) !

I have to start off my saying we walked in right at happy hour & seeing the bar area as full as it was makes me hopeful for this location! I love the feel of this restaurant & the finishing touches they added. The food was delicious I highly recommend the stone oak salad (the dried cherries and orange chipotle vinaigrette were 10/10). The only thing I hope the restaurant can maintain / work on is the service times, I know with new places this is a growth phase. I just know in the long run it'll benefit!

We just had a meal at Katerina's in Stone Oak. And Isaac (manager) made this an amazing experience. Aside from what we ordered , we enjoyed the Brussels sprouts....ive never liked Brussels sprouts.....however, these were amazing. In addition, Isaac came back multiple times to check on us. He is so energetic and really made our date night out a great experience. The bar tender, Sophia was so very attentive and made really great cocktails. This place rocks!

The menus are large & heavy and take up space on a small four top. The table was sent with a Birthday card as well. We started with cocktails & appetizers & moved on to dinner. It took a very long time to request & receive some water for the table. While there is an overwhelmingly large amount of servers & delivery servers, there was not one replenishing waters. Drinks did take a bit of time (still in the throes of Happy Hour so bartenders were slammed). Appetizers came out quickly but we had to ask for serving utensils for them as well as small plates. We had the waygu meatballs (too smoky for me but the sweet potato purée they were served upon was delish). Also had a side of shrimp and crab fried rice as an app. We asked for no jalapeños and they were kind enough to remove AND bring the bell peppers in a separate dish. Entrees were also delivered quickly and were hot and tasty. Two of four of us ordered pizzas & once again, we had to ask our delivery server for plates. As a previous server myself, I understand the role of server & delivery servers, but to not have plates or utensils struck me as odd. Mains were the shrimp pasta, sausage and pepper pizza, and the fig and prosciutto pizza. The hubs and I split the fig and prosciutto pizza. It was a very thick crust pizza. It was super sweet. And very cheesy. For the combination of sweet and cheesy I would've preferred a thin crispy crust myself. I literally was only able to eat one piece. I was so full. After sunset the lighting adjusts in the restaurant for ambiance but I did notice a certain table in front of the atrium getting hammered in the sunlight & the setting sun. Although we observed an awning over the windows, they definitely need to invest in shades or some type of anti sun, anti glare measures. Make note of this when getting a table during that time of day. I saw two gals get up & move to the other side of their table as their table top was in the path of the sunlight. As we were a party of four celebrating birthdays, we also received complementary desserts as well. Cocktails were good. My husband's first glass of the Chianti wasn't great. He thinks it turned. He moved on to a different red. The after dinner Carajillos were a little too sweet for me. I'll definitely be back. However, I think the menu is better during the happy hour even though it's noisy and loud. I would prefer to dine at the bar for happy hour menus and cocktail specials.

Chase was awesome at the bar. Great service and very attentive. Food was great and so were drinks. Very glad to have this restaurant in stone oak.

This restaurant was absolutely stunning inside and the decor was amazing. This restaurant in Stone Oak will be one of my favorites for sure ! There is many variety of foods on their menu - they do have happy hour specials. The only thing I did not like was our server, maybe he was new or maybe he was not having a good day. Let's just say that I was able to give feedback to the manager. He appreciated the feedback and hoped I will come back even after the not so great server. I of course will return for the happy hour menu ! The manager made it a point to let us pick a dessert and it was complimentary- which that was sweet of him. I do recommend this restaurant and the place is new and they will get better ! Give it a try !

Crab fried rice

Excellent visit heavily weighted on ambiance and service by our waiter, Keith Jackson. Katerina has a beautiful interior setting. Once you walk thru the giant door, you'll know a treat awaits you. We were seated at a table with low settee style seats. They were a bit too low and I had to rest my elbows on the table which is an etiquette no-no but I soon settled in once our charming waiter Keith approached. Our meal got off to a meh start. My friend had the French onion soup which she described as watery. I had the crab fried rice which was a bit mushy. My blood orange cocktail was delish but did not seem to have much alcohol. Our waiter could tell we thought it was just ok. He checked back frequently and made a reco of the short ribs. The short ribs were fork tender with a delicious sauce. It could have used more sauce and seasoning but I enjoyed it. The crowd at Katerina is well to do and mature so I think that may be why they go light on the seasoning. All the food was good (not amazing) and I'll be back but I'd probably choose it mainly for ambiance and the excellent service.

Up first was a great bread plate W either artichoke or balsamic pepper dip!

A reviewer mentioned that being here gives the feeling of hanging in someone's wine cellar which is the impression I got as I set foot in here. With the word wine being the in name of the establishment, you will find an extensive selection of wines available by glass and bottle and categorized by white types and red types. Being a Zinfandel guy, the bartender turned me to the Girard "Old Vine" Zinfandel. This is a pricy wine at $25/glass. I enjoyed the hell out of it as it's one of the better Zinfandel's I've ever had. Definitely steep at $25. I probably should've gone with the wine flight which is what my friend did before he switched to a Malbec. I forgot which one he did but the flights are all prearranged to compliment one another. It makes for a nice experience if you're not sure what wine you want to zero in on. As for food, we paired our wine with a charcuterie board. It's a standard board with some baguette slices and a mix of cheeses and meats with a candied jalapeno spread. A very nice compliment to wine. They have happy hour, wine of the month, and a wine/dine theme for every month where they pair wines with a themed menu. Plus sangria is available as well. Also there is wine tasting every Wednesday so the place gets packed from what I heard. But I'd certainly be open to attending one. Can't wait to come back here!

Your choice of main with salad or dessert orrrrrrr for +$3 you get all 3! Our server asked us if we wanted bread, and we said yes. The complimentary breads were nice and warm- a mixture of freshly made white and a dried fruit nut bread. The dark bread with dried fruit/nuts was my fave and highly addictive lol Ordered : Baby spinach salad with Brie on the side- fresh spinach drizzled with a light vinaigrette and sprinkled with pieces of dried fruit and bacon. The breaded/fried Brie was ooey gooey goodness. Hubby had the Classic Caesar and he enjoyed it. Both salads were decent large bowl portions. Grilled miso glazed Atlantic salmon- fresh, earthy, healthy, and delicious! A good piece of salmon cooked to perfection in a mild miso glaze and topped with an avocado relish. Everything (the quinoa, toasted cashews, grilled bok choy, and salmon) paired and blended so well together. Pure delish. I was completely full afterwards, but hubby had some space for dessert. Choices for dessert were limited to 3 - crème brûlée, chocolate mousse, or toasted coconut mousse pie. We chose the dark chocolate mousse- absolutely beautiful! Dark chocolate was sinfully good, cocoa nibs added a slightly crunch, and the berries were fresh and plump. We were happily stuffed. Service was excellent and food delicious. We would definitely revisit.
