I used to come here a lot since it's so close, but I came in for a pedicure. I usually go with John he wasn't there. So I just went with whoever. I have natural long toe nails and wanted a regular pedicure. She cut my nails down as requested but cut one lopsided and the other she cut down too far and my nails didn't match. I tried to talk to her to fix but it was like she didn't care. Then I had a toe ring that she pulled off while scrubbing my feet and when I asked if she could help me find it she said it's too busy in here. Definitely won't be coming back. I used to love going here. I'm giving a bad review because I went to get my nails done on my Bday and they just didn't want to work anymore lol John always does my nails, but that day he wasn't having it. I told him I wanted acrylics but no gel and her fucking did gel anyway. He left my left hand looking like I did it myself, he didn't even remove or clean my cuticles and he got mad when I reminded him I wanted glitter and just sloppily put on my nails. Sadly My new favorite nail salon already disappointed me with their lazy job last time so I called Kate nail after searching the neighborhood nail salon on yelp. They took my last mins appointment and they were just walking distance from my house. John was a quiet man but kind. I ordered gel manicure for $27. Bi color without extra charge. Every steps he took his time to do right. clean, make shapes and apply the color I picked on my nail. And massage hands at the end. His professional procedure made me feel comfortable. He cares. I used to like this place years ago. After two recent incidents though, I'm really turned off. 1) Two of my toenails bled during pedicure. It was a woman who had a manly haircut. She was really rough. She gave me cotton ball with alcohol to treat it but it still hurt. I would have let it go but not even a courtesy discount on the bill for sabotaging my toe nails was given. Not even a free little something for relief.... I paid like $50-$60 on mani, pedi. 2) I was having Gel manicure and everybody knows it lasts a month! One lady who worked there told the customer "that's no good, it doesn't last". What a lie to tell a customer so she would keep coming back for a regular manicure that only lasts 1-2 weeks. read more

I wanted to love this place all over again, but I left pretty upset. Color and shape are GORGEOUS, as long as you don't look too close. :( I understand what it is to be short staffed, but making sure your paying customer is 100% satisfied should be the main priority. Everything felt so rushed, friendly-ness does come off phony. My set was simple, no gel + baby blue. (They insist you get gel it's almost as if they can't take no for an answer) It didn't start off so bad, like I said shape = very pretty, & then somone else took over for the color and thats where it went all wrong! Very amateur to say the least. Parts of my nails had no paint on them, plus ALL tips had no color. So I'm sitting there letting them dry as it gets busier & busier (still haven't paid) then I finally get asked if I needed help. * Deeeep Breath * She takes my card and assumes I'm tipping she says out loud " Tip on card or cash? " meanwhile I'm looking down at all the unpainted parts of my nails and explain that I don't like it, she agrees and has the same person that ruined them "fix them". I've been to a few nail salons all over Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley, Downtown LA, South Central, Boyle Heights, Santa Monica) and by far this places is my favorite. These guys take their time when they do your nails (be ready to spend 1-3 hours at this place). However like many places, they do up-sell you so you just need to be firm. In addition, they focus so much on their work, that if you come at a busy time, you either have to wait for a long time or come another day (I tend to call beforehand to check for this). My experience wus bad here,never coming to this place again! Went in for a full set and ended up leaving with a big cut on my finger very painful! All because manicurist Wu's more bussy laughing and talking to another worker than paying attention to what she was doing! I called ahead and asked for an appointment at 1:00pm I arrived right on time but once again there was no one available again. Jen is the best thing that has happen to this place she is wondering and extremely good with nails she herself get 5 stars. however, she cant carry the whole place on her shoulder, called and asked for Jen was told she wasn't in but to come in 30 min all I needed was a color change.. got there at 5:40 was told if can wait, said yes.. at around 6:20 I asked how much more time the lady told me "oh my nephew is almost done he'll help you then" suddenly the same lady comes up to me and tells me if I can come tomorrow since Jen wasn't there i told her I couldn't I was already here and was told to come either way.. at around 7:20 the nephew is finally done came to me and tell me once again to come tomorrow and once again I told him I couldn't he started taking off my nail polish. At one moment he left, I assume to the bathroom but no he went to get the manager who ask me if I can come tomorrow by this time I am livid, I asked to speak to the person who answered my call and asked her why she told me come??! She started talking in some other language to her coworkers, that's when I decide to leave they wanted me to stay at the end but the guy wasn't doing a good job he had broke my nail and honestly I was just upset.
