This place is a diamond in the rough. It's off the beaten path. They have a set core of loyal neighbors, friends, and wine club members, but otherwise it's not a big winery and most people don't know about it. My mother and I went here in the summer of 2023 and really loved our visit. As a birthday treat my mother bought me a wine tasting for two with a special charcuterie board through Groupon as a birthday gift again this year to use in the summer or around my birthday in September. We weren't able to come back until late fall, but the nice thing about the Groupon is that it lasted for six months. It's a fabulous deal because you get a tasting for two and a chaucuterie cheese and cracker plate to share for an affordable price. This place is one of the few vineyards that has a unique experience like this and a good offer through Groupon. We came back this November (2025) and Crystal helped us. She was so kind and showed us true hospitality. I felt like we were with a good, loyal friend. The wine was fantastic, but when we explained that we only wanted it for our wine tasting and didn't need any to take home, she wasn't upset or bothered. She truly wanted us to enjoy our tasting experience and create a special memory. We talked about wine, cats, and aging. All the important things in life. The cheese and crackers were really nice. We were almost done eating our delights when she offered us more pita chips and walnuts that actually came right from their walnut trees. They were so good. I should have asked if they sold them there. The drive out to the winery is beautiful too. I would definitely recommend this winery to all my wine loving friends. read more

I was born and raised in Yamhill. Since my family home, and parents, still live in Yamhill, I come back often to visit. I'd see. The signs for Kason Vineyards, but was unfamiliar with them as I grew up here in the 70s-80s. My mom and I decided to swing by today to check it out and OmG what an amazing experience!!! Small town friendly. Absolutely NO snob or snooty bougie bullshit. It was so refreshing and fun to just talk to them like real, ordinary people talk to each other. Real people Real wine Real connection Real conversation I cannot recommend it enough. Go have an original experience with down to earth people!!! My wife and I are not wine drinkers, but since we live so close to the Yamhill Valley wine region we decided to buy a Groupon a spend some time sipping rather than just driving through the area. We were immediately taken by the gorgeous views from the tasting room. It looks over a plot of grape vines and a portion of the valley. The tasting room is cozy, but inviting. We were the only ones there on this Sunday, so we had Steve's full attention. He shared his knowledge of wine and told us stories about his youth in Portland (while we swapped"do you'd know this place" trivia). Speaking as not a wine connoisseur, the selections he shared with us were very approachable and delicious. He continued to share about the wine making process and how his wine is both similar and different from other makers. In the end, we were impressed enough to join the wine club to continue to enjoy the brand and the site experience. read more

We came to this area for a road tripping vacation and were feeling a little guilty about not stopping off at a winery in the wine region when we came across a sign indicating this one was open. We knew nothing about it in advance, but were happy to discover it accidentally. When we pulled it we found that it was crowded with a handful or cars in the parking lot and appeared to have a relatively small inside area. The outside yard and patio appears to allow for outdoor seating and we heard they have musical events when the weather is nice. The building itself appears house like and I was happy to discover they had the tasting fee posted on the door. We were greeted and seated by a very friendly host. The inside room is cozy, but kind of loud when everyone is having wine and talking. We worked our way thru the tasting options and I was happy to be served a snack of chips to go along with my tasting. It appears they have charcuterie plates available, but we did not inquire about these. They may also have some kind of experience options on deal sites to encourage people to visit, but since we are not from the area we didn't ask too much about these. I'm not a wine expert, but I enjoyed the tasting and always appreciated learning about wine and wineries. I love reading descriptions about what flavors you are likely to be experiencing and then comparing them to others. We left with a 20$ bottle of wine (one of the cheapest options) and felt happy to have taken the time out of our drive to stop by. read more

Crystal was very friendly and Roger, who pulls her weeds , was a fun person to chat with, as he loves to get paid with wine Roger showed us, because I asked, pictures of all the wood cuttings he's made. He made a beautiful Pine rocker! There is a beautiful table outside with green grass and a covering from the sun, but it was taken. We chose to not sweat and sat inside the air conditioned winery. I liked how Crystal asked us individually what we like to drink, so she knew what to give us for our tastings. I loved the Pinot Grigio, the light Chardonnay, and the 2018 Pinot Noir Reserve! We bought the '18. We also tried the 2015 Pinot Noir Reserve and my son & husband really liked that one. Crystal was fun to talk to and very personable! The wine was so good! read more

What a great place to visit when you are in wine country if you are big into Pinot Noir. What self respecting Oregonian isn't seriously... Their wines are fantastic with a robust nose. The staff is knowledgeable and more than happy to give tours and tastings. They new tasting room is just beautiful with a gorgeous view of the mountains and grape fields. Kason was our first stop on this wine vacation. We were heading down Hwy 47 towards our B&B and made a random decision to stop as we knew nothing about the winery or their wines. Turned out to be a great decision. We were greeted by Crystal and a very enjoyable wine tasting started. Crystal knew quite a bit about the wines she was pouring for us as she is also the winemaker for the winery. So started our in depth introduction to her Oregon pinot noirs. We were able to do side by side tasting of the Dijon 777 Clone vs Dijon 115 clone. They were both good, but I liked the smooth silky feel of the 777 clone better. Then Crystal offered us a taste of an "old vine reserve" pinot noir (vines are only in the 30+ year range, but is old for Oregon). I liked that wine too. And during all of this, a little chocolate to go with the wines never hurt the tastings. Before I knew it, I had bought a bottle of the 2015 Dijon 777 clone pinot noir as well as a bottle of the 2015 old vine reserve pinot noir. A great start to the vacation. read more

If you want to go to a huge, fancy wine estate with lots of pretty ponds and trees and commercial holler, this place isn't for you. If you want to go to a small, well run winery that has INCREDIBLE pinot noir that you can't buy in stores, you should hit this place up. We bought a bottle of the 09 Black Label pinot noir, I wanted to buy a case of it, but at $30 a bottle that was a little out of my reach. But, keep in mind you can get a glass of this stuff at a few restaurants in town (Ringside, for instance) for $15 a glass. Doesn't make the bottle price seem that bad anymore does it? It's just so good. Very low acidity, just delicious. Taste of 4 is $10 but buy a bottle or two and get your tasting fee waived. I had a great experience here! read more

If you are lookig for petite delicate Pinot, then don't come here. If you enjoy a bold balanced Pinot, then look no further. We were welcomed in after closing, and spent a good 90 minutes tasting, and talking with the owner. The tasting room is very nice, as well as the rest of the property. This is the kind of place where you pay for the wine, and the craftsmanship behind it instead of paying for the tasting room. We have added this to our list of favorites. read more

You'll find a bolder Pinot Noir here. And quaint little tasting room. The grounds are very pretty and the tasting room hosts are great! I was a fan of their Chardonnay which is a shocker because I hate Chardonnay, Kason's is very smooth and buttery. I also really enjoyed the 2012 Pinot. The winery has a very non-commercial feel to is and would be lovely to go back to in the summer. read more

This place is fantastic. The atmosphere is perfect, casual, and the tasting well-priced. The review before mine is right, though--these Pinot Noirs are not soft and delicate yet they are unmistakable (the vintner did have one lighter year). I have tasted a lot of Oregon wine, and the wines we tasted here at Kason were truly some of the best Oregon has to offer. Just GO! Stop wondering if the wines are good. They aren't. They are OUTSTANDING!!!! The best dang pinot noir I have ever had! The prices are more than reasonable. I left with a six pack then came back for more. Just go, but please don't buy it all. Save some for me. I'll be making the 600 mile trip north in September. There are many wonderful pinots in Oregon. They are richer and more full bodies than the California pinots. Kason is my favorite. Wonderful wines! read more

My wife and I had a fantastic time here. The wines are great and the staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and a blast to chat with. What really set it apart from the other wineries was how personable everyone was - the owner sat down with us and talked at length about the wine-making process and the different wines they were working on which was very interesting and really took the experience to another level. Very Rude owner. We purchased a wine and cheese pairing on Living Social. We tried to make reservation via email but it did not work. We stopped by with 4 other people and found the tasting room empty. We observed wine glasses, coats, purses and cheese. We waited a few minutes and decided to leave. We read the fine print and it requested a reservation. We then called to make a reservation. The man who answered was friendly and did not even ask for a name. We scheduled for the next day for 1:30. He made it sound as if that no big deal, (after all it was just a wine tasting with a cheese plate) We has an event that made it impossible to make the reservation, we called 45 minutes before we were to be there and asked the lady who answered the phone if we could reschedule a week later and she said no problem". We then get very rude phone message with a man yelling that we have cancelled 2 days in a row and now they have to throw out the cheese and that the coupon is no longer good and if we come in on the reschedule time we would have to pay full price. but he would keep the $30.00 perishable cheese in the cooler and we could have it then. Then he told us we lied about stopping by and have we ever heard of slander? and we had better have a good attorney. Wow! Do not buy any coupons for this place. I never had the chance to taste the wine, but who would want to? Plenty of other good wineries in the area that are professional and have great wines and cheese plates. read more
