This place is a family owned vineyard with a converted barn and it's so precious. They have old family photos everywhere. The charcuterie board was amazing, the wine flight was not only affordable, but delicious, and the staff were so attentive, sweet, and knowledgeable. Great winery!! We visited with family during our visit to Beaverton. Our hostess, Maddie, made our tasting so enjoyable. She was fantastic! We really enjoyed learning about this organic and biodynamic winery, the purpose of the winemaker's mission and their lovely wines. We left with a few bottles...The Life Pinot was one of our favorites (and we're not typically big fans of Pinot-Life is full-bodied for a Pinot). The wine was great! A little pricey but it was very good. My friend and I always get a cheese and meat plate. There was one cheese offering and 3 pepperoni sticks with some nuts crackers and dried fruit. It was sorely lacking for 35.00. Even with inflation I don't think I would pay that much. Service was fabulous albeit a little chilly as the outdoor heaters went out. Luckily we were able to move to another table. read more

I am thrilled that there is a winery near us in Cooper Mountain. They were able to accommodate 8 of us, plus two pups, on a Saturday. The ladies who assisted us were so welcoming. They did an amazing job explaining the wines to us and even offered to let us try one of the wines in rotation again, our choice! I wish there was more variety to the tasting menu when we visited as there were three pinot noirs in rotation that day. It was a hot day so they allowed us to move the benches and tables so we could keep cool under the shade. Marvelous service! I will definitely be back to give their wines another try. read more

Biodynamic, nor Organic wines, are produced without synthetic chemicals, but a biodynamic farmer treats the land like mother nature would, cares for the entire ecosystem. Take care of the soil and and the soil makes wines that make your taste buds dance. Speaking of, the Life Pinot Noir 2017 was our favorite wine, more fruit forward, no added "sulfates" with a peppery note as the wine slid across my tongue and danced and giggled 'round my gullet - liking that sensation. I could taste mother earth's love in this wine. We tasted the Chardonnay and Pinot's 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. It is the wine maker's opinion Pinot wines these past years are more fruit forward due to climate change, where the fall season is a bit more mild with less cold and rain that the grapes love most. We bought a bottle of Life along with 3 bottle of their amazing barrel-aged Balsamic Vinegars. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir juice has aged between 10 to 20 years (WOW) in wood barrels made in Northern Italy. You want to make your tased buds dance really? Try a savory and sweet balsamic vinegar derived from biodynamic loved soil in a bottle (more WOW NOW!) The taste is beyond words to describe ... WOWIE ... you MUST try! And at least on Black Friday, was 30% off a bottle. Cooper Mountain is so close to PDX, in the Beaverton foothills. Go there now, tis the season to be jolly sipping a flight of fine wine's and tasting barrel-aged balsamic vinegar's. We love this winery! Back at Cooper Mountain for wine tasting last week, the first time we'd been back in almost exactly three years. We had another couple with us and once again we received "we're glad you are here" service from knowledgable tasting room staff, a nice tasting card at a low price and a refund on the tasting fee with our purchase. We all loved the Vin Glace dessert wine, not a true ice wine but made in that style. Yummy. More fun, the chickens which had been fewer in number and smaller during our last visit are now more plentiful and bigger in size and friendly too. We also had a chance to sample the now eleven year old balsamic vinegar Cooper Mountain is making. Delightful At $40 a bottle, it would be a very special gift for a foodie friend. Drizzled on strawberries, for example, this time of year it is delicious. (They ship balsamic to all 50 states.) The biggest round of applause that ups this a star, is the owners fixed the problem with the bathroom that made it inaccessible before. Removed the gravel and replaced it with solid surface and ramped up the concrete to make it level in. Our friends who are winos on wheels will appreciate that this is useable for them as it is for winos on feet. Cool. My hubby is pressing for a move to the western side of the Cascades, we currently live east, and this winery is surrounded by housing options. He asked the nice lady at the tasting bar if folks from the neighborhood got free wine. She laughed and said they did have neighborhood events on certain evenings in the nice weather months with free music. Sounds like fun! read more

I SO badly wanted to like this wine, since it is THE closest vineyard to my house. But BLECH. Actual yuck. None of the wines were good. If I had bought them at a store, I would have returned them, that is how little my mother and I enjoyed them. They also didn't have any kind of hornet/wasp traps and they were a real problem this summer...and at this vineyard. It isn't a pretty vineyard either. There is literally nothing redeeming about this place aside from the fact that the employees were so nice. If the employees were as rude as the wine was bad, I actually would have said "sorry this wine is terrible, we are leaving." But she was so nice I felt bad telling her I hated the wine. JUST skip it. Nothing to find here but a lot of dust on your vehicles. read more

Good service. They use a stopper for their tastings... slightly on the small quantity as other reviewers have pointed out. The wines are pretty good. The whites that we tried were surprisingly good (2013 Tocai Friulano, 2013 Pinot Gris) - i typically don't like whites, but these were good. The reds were just okay, the last one we tried was good: 2011 Doctors Pinot Noir, but was quite costly too ($50 for the bottle). Good views from the outside. The host was gracious. read more

Friday "Neighbor Nights" wasn't quite what I expected but was still fun. They keep their tasting room open past 5pm and you can purchase a bottle while you find a nice spot to sit outside and enjoy some music. Music wasn't really my taste but oh well. Event lasted from 5-8pm...and yes, they do indeed kick you out come 8pm. The reserve Pinot Nior was excellent. We tried the "Fire Flight" of all the reds and decided upon purchasing a bottle of the Reserve. Just enough spice and fruit. Perfectly mellow finish. I also went ahead and purchased some of their stemless wine glasses for only $2/each! I even enjoyed the sulfate free wine which was unexpected, but quite delicious. Staff here is very knowledgeable about the wine and super friendly. It was certainly a great night out. read more

Cooper Mountain (Oregon's Orgainic & Biodynamic Winery) gets five stars for being five minutes from the front door of my house and for having some freakin' awesome wine. We used to enjoy this winery as it is in our neighborhood. I totally understand the pandemic has greatly impacted businesses and much flexibility and grace needs to be given to businesses. However, the pandemic restrictions have been lifted and so I contacted the winery before we drove over to see if the reservation system was still in place. Yep. And I was told the reservation system would continue to accommodate the business' schedule and labor considerations. Literally can't just walk in and purchase a flight or glass. She said literally she was sorry they would miss us and didn't miss a beat in telling me that and didn't listen to me, her customer, that used to enjoy impromptu dates to the winery on weekends. I have no interest in a 75 minute reservation. Period. read more

Wines are good to great, but tasting prices are among the highest I've seen. Now $15 for five pours, fee waived if you buy THREE bottles. Most places are $5 or $10 for 4-6 tastes, which is waived by purchasing one bottle. Despite that, the wines really are worth it. I would definitely purchase several bottles to have on hand for a dinner party. read more

As some other reviewers noted, this winery used to have a wonder "Neighbor Night" where you could buy a bottle, sit out on their lawn with a picnic dinner, and listen to live music during the summer on Friday nights. We always had a wonderful time going, until we went for the first time this year. Cooper Mountain has stopped selling bottles, and gave us the lame excuse that the OLCC made them because the winery could not regulate consumption. Ok, fine. I'm all for ensuring everyone has a safe drive home. Here's where I have a problem: 1. You CAN buy a glass of wine, for a ridiculous price. If the "no bottle policy" really did come from the OLCC, then why not take the price of a bottle and divide is by 5 (the number of glasses in a bottle)? Instead, prices are more like restaurant prices, with some glasses in the $14 range. 2. They would not let the six of us buy a bottle and split it right in front of them. We suggested that they could pour it and that we would use their plastic (not very sustainable for a biodynamic winery) cups, but clearly this would be in conflict with their new money making proposition, so we were denied. 3. They ran out of the $2 stem-less wine glasses, so we used their plastic cups. Our friends had brought their glasses from last year, and the differences in the pours were unbelievable. Plastic cups were poured about half as much as the larger, glassware. If you have your own glasses from last year, you should absolutely bring them. In summary, I'm really saddened by the fact that this once small, personable, lovely winery now runs its business in this manner. I understand that businesses need to be profitable, but don't lie about the OLCC or at least find ways to keep your customers happy. There are too many fantastic wineries in the valley to tolerate this, and thus, we probably won't go back unless this policy changes. read more

We first visited on a Saturday afternoon and had a great experience. We brought a picnic lunch and our dogs and we enjoyed a nice afternoon in the shade. The folks in the tasting room mentioned live music on Friday evenings and we were excited to bring our parents there in two weeks for an evening out. Had that been our only experience, we probably would have given four or five stars. However, the Friday evening live music absolutely ruined our experience of this winery. Five of us showed up and were told that entry fee was $5/person. A bit surprised about that since we weren't told that ahead of time, but we paid our fees and got our cups for wine. Evidently the $5 was purely an entrance fee and didn't even get us a taste of wine. We walked over to the wine table and asked to buy a bottle of the tocai friulano, which they sell for $22. We were told they don't sell wine by the bottle during Friday evenings and instead charged us $10/glass. By this point, we're $75 into the evening and we have maybe one bottle worth of wine between the five of us. We enjoyed the wine at this winery, but it's definitely not $75/bottle enjoyable. The next issue arose from the musician. I lost count on the number of kids songs she played. Yes, there were kids in the audience, but there were more groups that didn't have kids and I know we weren't the only ones annoyed at having to listen to "Wheels on the Bus" and other similar songs. Not exactly the relaxing Friday evening at a winery that we expected! We ended up leaving before the music finished and left quite embarrassed that we had recommended this winery to our friends. read more

They also used to market a sulfite-free wine Although I respect what they do, I would consider the taste of their wines to be average for Oregon. The actual tasting room is small and simple. As for the folks who are complaining about the size of the pours, the people pouring for you are only supposed to pour one ounce (at least that's how it works up here in Washington). I discovered this place by accident one day when my fiancee drove us "the back way" to Washington Square Mall... turns out this winery is like 8 minutes from our house so we had to go check it out. The wine was good, the fact that it is certified organic did not make it more appealing to us - but I can see how it would with some people. The tasting room was small, but the outdoor space was large! We did a quick taste of 4 wines, then bought a couple bottles and took a chilled one outside to drink at one of the picnic tables. I loved the chickens wondering around, and the view of the winery was a nice backdrop. We would return, but maybe bring a lunch and stay a while at the tables - or check out one of their Friday night concerts, seems like a great place to have one! read more

I have been drinking their 2008 Pinot Noir at home (I bought three cases in 2010 after reading a rave review by Matt Kramer from Wine Spectator writing in a Portland mag) and loving it. So it was a pleasure to finally be able to visit on a recent trip to Oregon. My visit coincided with the BIG torrential rainstorm during Sept. 2013 so it was nice to come to the cosy tasting room which was filled with wine and a few exhibits about biodynamic farming practices. Since I am writing apps about biodynamic wines and wineries (including a tasting and touring guide) I appreciated the un-assuming way they presented the educational materials. And I also always appreciate seeing vineyard maps on the walls (which they have here). After trying the wines in the tasting room, I found the LIFE wine to be my favorite. I don't usually go for no-sulfite wines but this had a transparency and beauty that spoke to me. While many wineries talk about being biodynamic or organic but actually have very few wines made that way, it's refreshing to see a place that is 100% walking the walk - they make 18,000 cases of wine from their biodynamic vineyards. They were the first ones to be certified biodynamic in Oregon. And their wines are super affordable. They label some of the wines biodynamic and some organic although all are from their four biodynamic vineyards. I also very much appreciate their generous discounts on cases (20 percent off) which means that $25 Pinot comes down to $20 a bottle, which is somewhat affordable compared to the average Oregon Pinot Noir. You can bring a picnic and enjoy it outdoors under the shade of the trees there, with views looking into their vineyard. It's true the property is surrounded by McMansions, but they are not too, too intrusive. If you are looking for a simple, unpretentious winery to visit, that makes wines without pesticides and herbicides (important to me), this is the place for you! read more

When I moved to Beaverton two years ago, I was so excited that Cooper Mountain Winery was a few minutes away. A former colleague had bought me a bottle as a going away present and I was looking forward to becoming a wine club member. But my first experience there was dreary and dull. The staff member was unenthusiastic about the wines and Winery. She didn't smile and simply poured a new wine when our glass was empty. She truly sucked the joy out of wine tasting. Fast forward a year later, I decided to give them another try. When we walked in, the staff member didn't bother to say hello. Ignored us even though there was just one couple at the bar. $10 for 3 tastings. Wines in the stated flight aren't very good. Bland table wine Pinot noir is $25. Cooper Mountain Winery: please improve upon your customer service. Showcase some better wines in your flight, too. I'm not going to buy your $50 Pinot noirs if you don't let me taste them. read more

My husband and I came here while in Portland for a long weekend for a chance to taste wines from the Willamette Valley in a location close to the city. We enjoyed the wines (particularly the Pinot Gris - we took two bottles home!) and the lovely view and setting. The cherry on top was when we locked ourselves out of our rental car and had to hang out for an extra hour or so. The staff was super friendly and offered us a free glass of wine while we waited for the locksmith! Not such a bad way to deal with an inconvenience! read more

I used to love going here for their "Neighborhood Night" event where music fills the air and customers picnic on their lawn overlooking a beautiful view of the Coast Range. However, they have since discontinued selling bottles of wine in favor of overpriced, small plastic cups of wine by the glass. They claim that they were forced to do this by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission to monitor consumption, but when asked to sell us a bottle so my group could could pour contents under their supervision (thereby directly monitoring our consumption), they vacillated and ultimately denied the compromise. Cooper Mtn definitely lost some fairly loyal customers after this stunt. Pity because their wine is quite good and their property is lovely for picnics! read more

We are wine members here and for good reason. Every time we come the wine is spectacular and very reasonably priced. The pours are great and tastings are cheap (free for wine club members but cheap even if you're not). I bring my baby girl up and it's fun for her as there are chickens that she loves to chase. Each staff member I've encountered is very knowledgeable and friendly. It's only 10 minutes from our house which is a plus and the views are beautiful. I can't wait for the Friday night concerts coming up and to enjoy a delicious glass of wine with it. I love that they serve by the glass as many wineries make you purchase a bottle. They will also open bottles of wine that you would like to try which I've really appreciated. They have the best wine club around-very affordable and you can pick up instead of paying shipping fees.
