Great food, great wine, good location! 18 Brix has some great dishes, the salad slightly overpriced but the Bruschetta, Clams and pizza are lovely dishes. The wine is second to none, try their 2015 Bad Karma and taste the smoke from the fires that year! Location is beautiful with some lake views but mostly just beautiful fountains and rivers and views over the vineyard. Definitely worth a visit when you're next in Chelan! 3 x medium size wine pours for $5! read more

I really dislike writing negative reviews and that's why I've waited a week to write this one. We made reservations for Karma a week or so in advance of our trip to Chelan as my friend loved some of their wines she had tried previously. She had also known someone who had worked their and thought it would be a great way to kick off our weekend. When we arrived, they were not ready for us yet so we needed to wait up above while they cleaned a table. No big deal it was a beautiful day. Upon our seating, it is a wonderful setting. However our server apparently must have been extremely overwhelmed. He barely spoke to us. Explained they only had one tasting. Not one for reds and one for whites like most wineries do. We asked about their wine club and he just dropped a sheet but it had no prices and he could not be bothered to discuss anything with us. We had actually planned on eating lunch here but because the service was so poor we did our tasting and left. It took us quite a bit of time just to pay for our tastings as we had to find someone to help us. It was a complete let down and disappointing as I've heard their wines are good but I won't give them another chance. Don't waste your time as their are some incredible wineries very close by that would love your business! read more

We've been to Karma several times for dinner and lunch and the food and service continue to be good. Service is casual and the winery is nice. Our clams were good and sandwiches were terrific. Service was polite, friendly and prompt. They always are very friendly--which is important in the winery industry. We'll be back. read more

My in-laws, husband, and myself were wine tasting on a gorgeous hot Sunday in Chelan, just driving the town and seeing what we could find. From the road, it doesn't look like much: Just a mound of dirt on a hill with a road winding around it. Literally, a mound of dirt! The food/wine bar is a small building just outside of and connected to the mound of dirt. This place is worth visiting just to get a free tour of what is under the mound of dirt... a natural wine cellar kept at 55F degrees year-round. It was dark, mysterious, and a little romantic with bottles of champagne fermeting along the walls and huge barrels of aging brandy. The tour guide was fairly knowledgeable about how to create brandy and champagne, but unfortunately we didn't get a full tour of the cellar. Why rate this two stars if I found the dirt mound so cool? Because I came here for wine tasting and not necessarily for the wine cellar, even though the wine cellar satisfied me enough so I didn't feel too bitter about the trip to Karma. I didn't end up wine tasting for two reasons: 1) The tasting fee was relatively expensive: Three tastes for $5. I understand five tastes for $5, but I've never heard of this before in a tasting room. I was put off, even if it did come with a little bread and cheese. I didn't want the bread and cheese, just five tastes. 2) I got the feeling it was a new, small winery trying to be something too big for its britches. The tour guide informed us that the owners are going to make a resort out of the winery, with a housing development behind it, an amphitheater in front of it, and a number of restaurants. I really hate it when wineries do this... I feel like they're selling out and losing the spirit of what wine and wine making is all about. Who knows? Maybe their wine is the best wine you've ever tasted and their appetizer flights are $9 but taste like a million. I can say their people seem like good people. I'd be more than willing to try their wines when they bring the tasting to five tastes for $5, but until then, Karma Vineyards turned me off. read more

There are 3 wineries on the South Shore in Lake Chelan that are making Pinot Noir and this is one of them. There is a hint of smoke which I found to be quite intriguing. Karma makes a sparkling wine that is quite good and I enjoyed their Zen especially and Bad Karma blends. If you are looking for "cheap" wines, this is not the place for you. However, if you are truly interested in complex wines, make a point to stop by Karma.I was impressed with the tasting room manager's professionalism and dedication to the wine. It definitely makes a difference in the tasting room experience. The setting is sublime in Spring and Summer with colorful flowers in bloom and a water running in front of the winery. It's a good place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine ($9). I'm not sure about the food however, we are talking about wine here aren't we? read more

They have good food, and the best part is that they give you bread and cheese with your tasting. A classy touch. The owner took care of us personally. Their full range of wines, while great, is just the tip of the iceberg. They also make a full range of champagnes, which are very high in alcohol content. They are mighty tasty. They also started their own distillery! We had the first batch of brandy, which was very good. I believe their whisky is in the barrel, looking forward to that. Spent 20min waiting in line as the two hostesses struggled to figure out how a seating list works instead of clearing and preparing the empty tables inside. Saw a party same size as us that walked in behind us get seated ahead of us. Then the hostess said that they would seat us and 2 other parties at one big table (which is fine), but we then had to wait for them to set up the 12-person table while a bunch of smaller ones were available... Once seated, it was over 15min before anyone greeted us. By that time we had our food order ready. Observed multiple parties who again came behind us, get their food before our pizza and cheese plate. Bottom line, I'd avoid this place unless you're not hungry and have nothing else to do for the rest of the day. read more

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Karma Vineyards. They were very accommodating to our family. The food was wonderful, and the flight of sparkling wine we ordered was delicious. We would absolutely recommend this place, and would even go back when we visit Lake Chelan again. The reason why I gave 3 of 5 stars was what happened at the end of our visit. When my wife went to purchase two bottles of sparkling wine our server came to me asking if we would like to purchase wine? I told her I think my wife is doing that now at the gift shop. The server told me she would help her with that, and went straight to the gift shop to help my wife. I honestly didn't think anything of it, but when our bill came to us it was $300. The server included our meal with the sale items we purchased. Even though we were uneasy with the sale items being included with our meal we went ahead and included the 20% tip anyways - our server did do a great job. My wife and I however feel the irony of "Karma" here, and feel it was deceiving to put the sale items with our meal. Our two $75 bottles of wines turned into $90 bottles of wine. This was my friend and I's first stop on the Lake Chelan winery train and sadly this was the least impressive place. I got the wine flight and got a mix of red, rose and white and I wasn't impressed with any of them. I was really looking forward to purchasing some wine to add to my collection and this place was so blah. I would say the mushroom bruschetta was delicious. Service was meh, we were waiting for the server to come and pick up our card for the check but never came so ended up going to the front to pay. You're better off going somewhere else. read more

Karma is one of my favorite Vineyards in Chelan. It is a beautiful property and has wonderful food and wine. My latest trip was this weekend with 13 girls for a 40th birthday weekend away. We came on a wine bus tour where our driver set up an appointment with the staff. When we arrived they were waiting for us with a tray of glasses with tastes of their delicious berry cider. It made us all feel so welcome. We were originally only supposed to go for the tasting however we asked if we could stay and have lunch and they accommodated right away by taking us to a gorgeous private table. The owner and GM were so friendly and let us know that because we were still on a wine tour we should order right away so that we could get our food and continue on. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. Our table and the setting was as if we were sitting in The middle of a vineyard in Tuscany. Needless to say we could have stayed there all day. read more

There are many, many beautiful vineyards in Eastern Washington but not many I know of with a cave. I attended a wedding at Karma Vineyards that began with a hilltop ceremony surrounded by lush gardens and overlooking beautiful Lake Chelan, and ended with dancing in the coolness of a cave. The patio near the tasting room was the perfect location for pre-ceremony beverages and appetizers (a delicious and interesting variety of jams, breads, cheeses and meats) and the children were captivated by the koi in the lovely pond. Dinner was fabulous and the support staff were helpful and friendly. The Bad Granny cherry cider was fun departure from the apple ciders I'm used to; I'll be looking for it in stores when I get home! Dessert and dancing in the cave after dinner made this a truly unique wedding experience. The crowning touch though, was the champagne made and specially labeled to commemorate the bride and groom. We also shared a flight of wine; three for $5. I think we had the chardonnay, rosé, and the Try. We were most impressed with the rosé. This was my first wine tasting experience and it was lovely. The service was wonderful and everyone was really knowledgeable about the wine, they even taught us how to properly taste different wines. They give you bread so you can clear your pallet every time you try a new wine which was really helpful and she even let us try different glasses so we can understand how the glass impacted the taste of the wine. The atmosphere was great as well. If you have the chance I would sit inside the cave. It's decorated like a old wine cellar and there's a bit more privacy in the seating arrangements. we tried a couple of the small plates but really I would skip them. When we arrived the host gave us attitude about not having reservations. She then proceeded to tell us we had to wait a long time for a party of six since they didn't have enough tables to fit us. Luckily we waited 2 minutes m.. so not sure what the attitude is about. I don't mind that food is overpriced if it tastes good. But that was definitely not the case... it tasted bad, small portions, and overpriced. Ex: We got chicken Brie sandwich.. (basically half a sandwich portion for $16) the baguette was dry and hard, the chicken was tasteless and dry, the 'fruit' we got was literally 2 raspberries and 2 strawberries. My other friend got the same dish and hers was served differently and didn't even come with the 'Fruits'. Another friend got the shrimp and scallops and it was tasteless, again overpriced and the sauce tasted so weird! The only yummy thing was pizza so get that if you dare to go there (still overpriced). Anyways, don't go there for food. The champagne pour was $20 but they basically give you 3 full glasses so that was good. The wine was mediocre. Not only did my husband and I get married here, but I've grown up visiting Chelan and eatingand drinking at Karma on a regular basis! The reason we keep coming back is not only for the delicious food and wine, but the exceptional staff. There are employees that have been there since the beginning and their passion and commitment to the business shows. I've recently become vegan and the chef is always accommodating to my needs and provides a lovely dish every time! If you're considering getting married here, I highly recommend it. Ever step was thoroughly explained to us by the owner, Julie and she answered every question we had in detail. Our day was absolutely flawless and any issues that happened leading up to the day I had NO CLUE about because they were so amazing at solving it without bothering my wedding party. A local told us about the Sunday brunch here. Not impressed for the price. It was a beautiful winery and a great atmosphere. The table service was good but the brunch lacked for $30 per person. The "cheesy grits" were not. They were polenta cake that lacked salt and pepper. Oh and those are aren't on the table. Ask for them right away because you'll need them. The quiche was flat but ok with salt and pepper. They were out of sausage and bacon our first time through. The pastry's were ok. Not $30 worth by any means. read more

There are no less then 15 wineries/ tasting rooms in the Lake Chelan area and Karma is good, but not great. If there was a contest for beauty of setting and clever wine names, Karma would rank very high. Put it on your trip list and be sure to check it out...on your way to Tsillan Cellars ( my personal fave) and others. The waterfall and outdoor patio are the perfect setting for the *complimentary* wine flights/tasting experience (other wineries charge $5). But I think you will find it is worth the small price tag to visit those wineries too. For a full menu experience- stick with bread & cheese plate or Caprese Salad and avoid the "slimy" clams and weird not-so-hot and sour prawn soup. Fun pictures decorate the interior walls of "the cave" entrance. Yours truly visited there in 2008 and has 2 pictures up to prove it! During "Crush" weekend in Lake Chelan all the wineries were busy. But from previous reviews, it's clear that the service here tends to be slow and hectic. read more

The Chicken sandwiches were about 3 inches and cost $14 each. No salad or chips were served on the side just one strawberry sliced in half and 2 blackberries. The wine was mediocre and very small portions for the price. No view of the lake and no fans to cool us. Would not recomend to our freinds and family. read more

This vineyard is absolutely GORGEOUS! They have a beautiful water feature running throughout their property and a Koi pond. They open at 12 and we got there a little early but they still seated us any ways. I really liked how you got to sit down at a table, you selected your 3 wines for your flight and then they brought them out on a cute little tray that held all of them on it and even had a little tasting note card that you could refer to. So it is a mix of a restaurant table service and a wine tasting. And you even get some bread and cheese too which is great to cleanse the palette. So here is my recommendation if you are in a group: If you want to be able to try all of the wines, make sure everyone gets something different on the list. That way you can have a sip of ALL of them. The tastings are $5 for 3 or compt after a bottle purchase. We got a bottle of the Estate Syrah, and it is a beautiful bottle, I will probably have to keep it. After a full day of tasting I definitely noticed that most of the Chelan wines were in the $25 dollar range for a red, which was a little bit more than what I was expecting it to be way out there. read more

Finally made it out to Karma after so many people recommended it and hearing about it. I have to say we might have come on a good day, because our service was superb. I wish I could remember the lady's name, but when someone in my group asked for an avocado for little Paulito and they didn't have any she volunteered to go home and get one... no need to go to that extent, but the offer was definitely appreciated. The cave is pretty cool, not something so incredible that it would bring me back, but it's cool. Something to brag about since it's the only one in Lake Chelan. Cool nevertheless. I definitely agree with Kayla S. as far as liking the way the $5 flights of two reds and a white are served with a description of each one. Although I like the idea behind it, I'm on the fence about it because you don't get that personal feel of hearing the pourer describe the wine, but if you don't care and are there just to drink, then this is perfect. Do have to say this takes a lot of pressure off the staff which can be nice if they are busy or short on staff. The patio is ridiculously cool. Nothing like other wineries in the area, more like Vin Du Lac, exactly, not pretentious. It's beautiful, subtle and welcoming, just like I like my wine and women. heh... Koi pond, a little bridge, a grassy area and tents set up to block the sun if your tender flesh so desires it. Where they get my minus star is the price of the food. The flights are priced fine. I don't mind paying $5 bucks for a flight, plus it comes with cheese and bread. The glass of gewurztraminer was 7 bucks and that's right where it should be. The mini bites was what bit me the wrong way. 14 bucks for a small, very small (and that's what we wanted) flat bread, at another 4 bucks for prosciutto and you have a 6 inch flat bread for 18 bucks. Ouch! It was delicious, but a bit pricey for what it was. Overall good experience. The whites were good, I'll have to come back and taste them all... I think what would bring me back would be the atmosphere and service. read more

It's quite lovely. Went there for a Sunday taste after a long weekend in Chelan. The grounds are quite beautiful and the $5 wine flight was worth it. They had a really nice butter chardonay in the mix as well as their new Try blend with Cab and Malbec (my personal favorite of the flight). It was a nice hot day and the service was pleasant and we enjoyed sitting in their outside seating area. My friend got a salad that ended up costing $18 which apparently wasn't worth the money. I am told the winery tour in the hills is really nice, but the winemaker and the owner were both out of town, so no tours today. If you'd like to prolong your trip home from Chelan and enjoy the offerings of the vineyards along the way, stop by Karma and see what "flights" are up their sleeves. read more
