I tore my hamstring and it's been a constant battle for the past decade. Run, tweak, rest, run a little slower, tweak, rest. Run a lot slower, and yup, tweak again, and then just sit around feeling sorry for yourself for getting old. Next thing you know, you can't break a 10 minute mile without fear of tweaking again. That's like a fast walk! So I spent a total of 15 minutes being stretched and poked a little. Not sure what happened really. Went downstairs and jogged for about two minutes and I felt fine. I asked how many more treatments I'd need. "Zero, I hope. You should be good to go." So I'm a week out and it's winter here so managed a couple treadmill sessions at the local Y. Didn't want to be greedy, but did some interval training at 8:30 pace and NADA. No tightness. No twinge. Nothing. Pain FREE! It's like voodoo magic. Will try to work my way up, but it's literally the most too good to be true, but it really is true moment I've experienced in a long time! I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience with Lisa Kay. When I booked my…read moreappointment, I clearly explained that I needed a customized massage focused on my lower back due to herniated discs. I also filled out all intake forms in detail and repeated my concerns in person before the session began. Despite this, the session did not reflect what I had requested. She spent a significant amount of time working on areas I did not ask for, including my upper body and even working over the blanket at the start. I gave it about 15 minutes, assuming she would eventually focus on my lower back, but that never really happened. When she eventually moved toward my lower body, she continued working over the blanket. I politely asked her to remove it so the massage could be more effective, and she responded with a loud, sarcastic laugh, which made me feel uncomfortable and not taken seriously. I then asked her to focus specifically on my lower back and avoid my legs, since that was the reason for my visit. She responded in a dismissive and sarcastic tone, claiming I had asked for hips and legs work, which I never did. The interaction made me increasingly uncomfortable. Specially with the several statements starting as "Well, JUST SO YOU KNOW... lies lies" At that point, I clearly asked her to stop the session because I no longer felt comfortable or safe. She did not immediately respect my request and continued to push back before eventually walking away with an attitude. Overall, I did not feel heard, respected, or safe during this experience. I would not recommend booking with her, especially if you have specific medical needs or expect clear communication and professionalism. I came in for a medical massage, but instead experienced unprofessional treatment, possibly discriminated against, and a session focused largely on irrelevant upper back work. Don't waste your time, specially if you are a person of color, she definitely is a Karen, possibly wanting to make America great again.
