When she started Anise Moon in Latham, I couldn't wait to book an appointment, but my mom was visiting and I wanted to treat her first. She had a great experience, but I'll let her share her own story. Months later I was finally home and in a place where I could take a little time for pampering. Altranise was easy to book with and very nice when I got there. My only complaint is that the location is a little hard to find (it's super easy to drive to, but the address wasn't visible), but while I was there, the landlord was installing a sign for The Wellness Cottage now that all of the rooms are filled. Voila--fixed! Altranise made me feel very comfortable and I could tell she was genuinely interested in my past and current health to inform her work. The room was really comfortable and my 90 minute massage was heaven. She knew the exact areas I needed more attention on and I felt like she had the perfect amount of pressure. I only wanted a normal Swedish massage--I'm wimpy and can't handle deep tissue, but I know she would be great working however her client needed help, she really listens. She seemed very knowledgeable and was extremely pleasant. She made my first session a positive one as I was able to relax and indulge in the moment, although in pain. As one session will not heal you or anyone, who has an injury as I did. But I was looking for relaxation upon my first session and she exceeded that goal. Needless to say I will never fear massage therapy again. As treatments continued I became more relaxed and comfortable with each session. The treatments have been an extremely positive outcome for my healing process. She has giving me many useful suggestions on ways to relieve pain and discomfort on my injured areas. With each session, it seems like the first (except I am not nervous anymore). She assesses how I am feeling physically and what her plan of treatment should be for that session. As I suffer from depression, she previously posted an article on her Facebook page regarding how massage therapy helps with depression. That article is so on point, the therapy that I have received not only has/is helping me physically but also emotionally/mentally. This was a terrible customer service experience, especially given that it was last minute and for a specific special occasion. I will never try to book anything here again, and I suggest that you avoid this place as well. UPDATE: they apparently still charged my account the full price of the services that I requested, despite saying that nothing went through. Despite saying that I only left the card in file, but they would never charge me before the services were rendered...stay far away from this place. I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience with Lisa Kay. When I booked my…read moreappointment, I clearly explained that I needed a customized massage focused on my lower back due to herniated discs. I also filled out all intake forms in detail and repeated my concerns in person before the session began. Despite this, the session did not reflect what I had requested. She spent a significant amount of time working on areas I did not ask for, including my upper body and even working over the blanket at the start. I gave it about 15 minutes, assuming she would eventually focus on my lower back, but that never really happened. When she eventually moved toward my lower body, she continued working over the blanket. I politely asked her to remove it so the massage could be more effective, and she responded with a loud, sarcastic laugh, which made me feel uncomfortable and not taken seriously. I then asked her to focus specifically on my lower back and avoid my legs, since that was the reason for my visit. She responded in a dismissive and sarcastic tone, claiming I had asked for hips and legs work, which I never did. The interaction made me increasingly uncomfortable. Specially with the several statements starting as "Well, JUST SO YOU KNOW... lies lies" At that point, I clearly asked her to stop the session because I no longer felt comfortable or safe. She did not immediately respect my request and continued to push back before eventually walking away with an attitude. Overall, I did not feel heard, respected, or safe during this experience. I would not recommend booking with her, especially if you have specific medical needs or expect clear communication and professionalism. I came in for a medical massage, but instead experienced unprofessional treatment, possibly discriminated against, and a session focused largely on irrelevant upper back work. Don't waste your time, specially if you are a person of color, she definitely is a Karen, possibly wanting to make America great again.
