I had to have five teeth extracted recently and when I tell you this office was HEAVEN SENT! From the front desk to getting in the chair works like a very well ordered machine literally from new patient paperwork to leaving. Everyone was so pleasant. Dr. Nash has been the first dentist I have ever felt the need to say Thank you for all that you do! To get me numbed up to the point that I had no anxiety because it was for the most part pain free from the first injection. Dr. Nash and her assistants were very thorough and gave detailed instructions AND took the time to answer my questions along the way. They even called me next day about follow up care and to check on how I was doing! My procedure may have been 30 minutes top which definitely was another joyful surprise as I wasn't there all day either. Dr Nash was supposed to do my surgery March 24th . Due to corona virus , they cancelled all unnecessary dental work ( at hospital ... not sure about her private practice). And Dr. Nash is an amazing dentist . I realize her private practice costs more than her volunteer work at st Benedictines. I will call tomorrow . Even if it costs our family a few more hundred . I recently visited Dr. Nash to have my 3 remaining wisdom teeth removed. I had 1 removed back in May of 2018. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience on both occasions. I was seen promptly and to my surprise, the procedure went very well. Short and sweet. I felt virtually no pain during the surgery (local anesthetic) and the recovery has been great so far. I do feel that the receptionists could be a tad nicer and when I called last summer to schedule an appointment, I had some difficulty reaching the front desk as no one was answering the phones. However, I would definitely recommend Dr. Nash and would return in the future if need be. Let's just hope that I won't need to though. read more

NIGHTMARE: FOUR MONTH HEALING PROCESS (Lengthy/detailed) I got my all four of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Nash on August 11, 2016. Today makes one year since the surgery. You will find out the reason why I waited a year to write this toward the end of my review. On August 11th I went to her office and I filled out the paper work and paid. My first red flag was that they would NOT allow my mom to come in the room with me, I was 20 at the time and I wanted my moms support. Second red flag was when Dr. Nash's assistant came in to "prep" me for the surgery started to prepare numbing needles. So I ask... "Wait I thought you guys were going to put me to sleep." And he responded "...I mean if you want to go to sleep you can but that's gonna be an extra $300." So of course I said no because I was thinking about the price and not what would be best for me pain wise. And of course neither one of them explained the differences or the pros/cons to me. I would say that Dr. Nash was friendly, but by she greeted me by administering 5-10 numbing shots in my mouth! So she starts removing my wisdom teeth and mind you I'm awake so there are times when I have to stop her because I can literally feel the teeth ripping from my gums! All she would do was stop and administer 2-3 more numbing shots each time! I received about 20-30 numbing shots total through the entire surgery. She was literally, at one point, pushing down on my forehead to help her snatch the teeth out of my mouth (2 out of 4 of my teeth were impacted.) When I was done, that was it. She literally just said "don't spit because that will cause your mouth to bleed more and you cant eat solid food for 3-5 days." I didn't get any information on how to care for my mouth, didn't get any medical mouth wash, and I didn't even get a follow up appointment!!! And at the time I thought this was normal! By the time I got to the car BLOOD WAS LITERALLY FALLING OUT OF MY MOUTH. I was in severe pain already and I had just finished the surgery 15 minutes prior! I was hyperventilating and crying from the pain and my face had already swelled twice its size! I couldn't speak audible sentences because of the severe swelling and I couldn't even swallow! By the time I got to my house I was crying and literally stumbling because the pain was making me faint! My mom gave my one of her Vicodin, because I hadn't been to Walgreens yet to fill my prescription, AND IT WAS LIKE CANDY! It did not work AT ALL! Vicodin, VICODIN, did not work to ease the pain! And because I couldn't swallow, I literally had to drop the pill down my throat! Within 2 hours of the surgery, I had a cup next to my bed that was half full of blood and I was having to change my gauze every 5 minutes because my mouth was bleeding so badly! And, because I couldn't swallow or open my mouth for that matter, I couldn't drink anything but water for the first TWO DAYS after my surgery! I couldn't eat applesauce until my 3rd day of recovery! Because my swelling took a month to go away, I hadn't graduated to eating MASHED POTATOES until a month after my surgery! Half of the month of September I ate applesauce, carnation instant breakfast shakes, mashed potatoes and biscuits! I'll remind you yet again that I thought this was normal because nothing was explained to me and I didn't know any better. By mid September, I had started back eating solid foods but I WAS NOT YET PAIN FREE. Then, one day after eating solid foods for a while, I noticed that it felt like something was inside of my jaws on both sides! I opened my mouth and I saw that my jaw was PACKED full of the solid foods I'd started eating! YES, you read it right! I got my surgery August 11, 2016, and by October 11, 2016 I still had GAPING HOLES in my mouth from where the wisdom teeth were removed! So I literally had to take a toothpick and DIG the food out of my incisions and then rinse my mouth with water because of course I didn't have a syringe! Overall the incisions (holes in my jaw) didn't close up until late November! This unfortunately meant that I had to go back to a LIQUID diet until they healed to prevent infection! I also was not pain free until DECEMBER! That's a 4 MONTH healing process! And, to add insult to injury, I'm suffering from permanent numbness in my mouth! That is the reason why I waited a year to give this review! Because I wanted to see if the numbness would go away after a year and it still hasn't! The bottom row of my teeth as well as half of my tongue is still numb TO THIS VERY DAY! I apologize for how lengthy this review is, but I've said all of this to say DO NOT go to Dr. Nash! I'm leaving this review because I want to help someone else. Please do not go if you have to get your wisdom teeth surgically removed!!! This woman has had a lawsuit placed against her for dental malpractice! Maybe it's safe if it just needs to be pulled out but if it needs to be removed please don't go. She caused me (and other people that you can read about in the google reviews) nerve damage! Now half of my tongue is still numb and I can't taste anything on it a year later. Yeah she's probably average but please go to someone better instead of her... when I went back to tell her about it basically she told me that I couldn't do anything because I signed a contract. I went here for a consultation to have a tooth extracted and later a dental implant put in. The first thing I noticed is that the lobby has nice furnishings, but they are all stained. Stained carpet, stained chairs in the waiting room. This is kind of scary for an office that is doing SURGERY. I decided to stay and see what they were talking about. I got x-rays and was put in an exam room with an equally dirty, stained chair. Then Dr. Nash came in to speak to me. She looked at my x-rays and drew a couple of pictures to show me the process. She even wrote down the pricing of each part of the procedure. I left thinking that perhaps I could look past the filthy furniture since the price was right (I'm paying out of my pocket) and there did seem to be a steady flow of patients in the waiting room while I was there. As I went to pay my $94 for my consultation (I wish I could make that much for 15 mins of my time), the receptionist looked up the pricing for each portion of the procedure in her computer, and suddenly my costs were higher than Dr. Nash just quoted me. I made an appointment for my extraction, but I cancelled it. I just can't see paying that much for dental work (especially once you Google Dr. Nash) when they can't spend a few hundred dollars to get their office steam cleaned. This is a medical office and it NEEDS to be clean!!!! read more

Officially my new dentist!!! I called Dr. Nash's office at 12 p.m. on a Tuesday for a same day, walkin, emergency appt. The receptionist on the phone was warm sympathetic to my needs and even though I was a new client she scheduled me for 2pm. Before I arrived my insurance was verified by phone.. I arrived at 1:40p.m. I was greeted by professional staff who were couteous and patient with me. I was in a great deal of pain and I had lots of questions about the surgery. My x-ray and wisdom toothe extraction was complete in 1.5 hours. I was thoroughly impressed. Dr. Nash and her staff are excellent. The dental assistant even came into my for a comfort check which really made me feel cared for. I'm so glad I picked Dr. Karen Nash for my oral surgery! I was greeted warmly upon entering (a great start) , the dental assistant was friendly and informative. Now on to Dr. Nash, she was kind and friendly and she talked me thru the whole process and did I mention she's SUPER FAST! If you're near the southeast side of Chicago make sure to check her out! Terrible Experience!!! I never ever write reviews good or bad, but people should know what it's like at Dr. Nash. Establishment. Here you will get nothing but the surgery or teeth pulling. No customer service, No care. I had teeth pulled Dr Nash came right in the room and proceeded to just give me shots to numb me. No greeting or anything. I told them I was scared my comment was totally ignore. No effort to make me feel comfortable. I had no idea how the process would go or anything. I was her last patient of the day. Before I could get back to the front desk she had on her coat walk-in out the door as I was. I felt it was a rush job and so uncaring. I'm in the healthcare field myself and I never seen anything like this before. The front staff was polite. Overall, I felt like I was in a underground prison being punished instead of receiving quality dental service. No printed aftercare, other than what was on the gauze envelope, the assistant told me what to do and not do as she cleaned the room. And they gave me a prescription for amoxicillin, which I did write down as a allergy. Apparently, they didn't care about that either. My teeth pulling was painless and done very fast. But I would have rather had slow painless service with quality and care. Going here you better decided whether you value quality and care or careless, fast teeth pulling these are your options. read more

I am now just able to write this review. It is very late due to me having to calm down from having such a very traumatizing experience. Jan 2015 I read the bad reviews and decided that all of them could not possibly have been true, but boy was I wrong. Believe the negative reviews!!! My wisdom tooth was laying on its side and pushing my other teeth causing excruciating pain, so my dentist suggested Karen Nash to remove my impacted wisdom tooth. I made a few calls but eventually got through to make my appt, and got there early. The office was nice, but the furniture is stained and the staff was barely cordial. I had x-rays and was placed in the chair, I was later informed that she was running late and three hrs later she finally arrived in a rushed state. She introduced herself but appeared cold (I wasn't there to be her friend and didn't care, I just wanted my mouth to stop hurting) checked my mouth and went to the other room where I heard another patient screaming in pain; which freaked me out, I didn't know whether to run or stay, but my mouth hurting. I should have left when she was an hour late, but I was in pain (the things pain make you do) She came back and started working on my mouth....I had to stop her because she never gave me any anesthesia, and she stated that she thought she had. I informed her that she didn't and that it takes several injections to deaden my mouth and with major attitude she informed me that it didn't. She injected my gums and left, came back and started working on my mouth again. I screamed in pain, she injected me some more and left, came back and began working on my mouth, I screamed in pain again, and this went on a few more times with her making snide comments ...my gums never became numb enough and she began working on my mouth again. She was very rough, and it hurt really bad to the point of me crying hysterically. That is when she decided to stop and looked me in my face and stated that I must've had my previous dental work done at the county. Once I calmed down enough to talk, I told her that I did not have any work done at the county, I've had dental insurance all of my life until I recently lost my job (I was using the medical card) and that I have a Bachelors degree while she was looking at me in a condescending way. I asked if the tooth was out from what she had done, she stated that half of the tooth had been removed. Fast forward to today 12/18/2016, I've relocated and my mouth is hurting again, so I had x-rays done and to my surprise was told that my wisdom tooth needed to be removed. I asked if it was a half of tooth...No it's the whole tooth, and was shown the x-ray....Now, I'm almost as freaking pissed as I was when I left Karen Nash's office. To have to go this all over again and to not even trust anymore oral surgeons. I do not recommend Karen Nash for anything!!!!! read more

I have been in excruciating pain and there aren't a lot of options to get an impacted wisdom tooth pulled economically. Dr. Nash's staff collectively solved my pain and did so with, kindness, tender loving care, professionalism and first class customer service!! Dr. Nash puts you at ease and her professionalism is evident in the efficient manner my teeth were extracted before I knew it and I was numbed perfectly so i felt little or no discomfort. Thanks for doing such a great job it was greatly appreciated! I am an overwhelmed mom with little or no time and they were able to give me an accommodating last minute appointment, while having me in and out with time to spare to get my kids from school. State of the art Xray equipment that takes one picture and done. I recommend this practice to everyone, and they have a dedicated patient in me! read more

In a word, disappointed. From speaking with the receptionist over the phone, confirming what was covered by the insurance, to the oral surgeons demeanor I was disappointed. As a supporter of black business it is discouraging to know that customer services is not a priority of this office. While there were other things that were wrong the most astonishing was that even though my services were covered by my insurance Nash's office charged me upfront for them anyway, saying that insurance companies do not pay out like they say they do. I was charged and told that I would be reimbursed if/when my insurance provider issued them a check. I did have to wait a long time but I was very compassionate as the girl before me was having 20 of her rotted teeth pulled out and the front receptionist should be more organized than they are. The rooms could also be a little more warming. Her assistant and Dr. Nash had a great sense of humor and they were wonderful to talk to. They were real people not uppity up like some of these peopl are. I loved how she got straight to the point. I was numbed up immediately waited a few minutes and numbed up again (I was already nervous. But her confidence and in the informed consent. People don't realize there are literally risks for everything you do medical or not. My wisdom teeth were ruining my other teeth literally and causing my pain and other problems. She was very cautious of my two molars right next to my wisdom tooth. I had just had root canals done and had not had them crowned) I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled put out and one of my teeth which couldn't be pulled out because of the positioning it had to be cut. (Which I already knew had to happen) But it was honestly amazing how fast she worked and I didn't even know they were out! I was numbed again after the procedure and stitches put in on the area she had to cut open to get my bottom molar that was completely sideways. I was Prescribed steroids, antibiotics and pain medications. I'm not quite sure what people are talking about on here. I really enjoyed her. I don't like when people try and coddle you and I like being told straight up. She was a very pleasant woman and if I lived closer I would use her as my main dentist. She was AWESOME! read more

I've had the worst experience with this office but the funny thing is I never even made it into the office! I had called for two weeks and finally made an appointment. Then I show up to my appointment and no on is there! Then I am greeted by a woman to tell me Doctor Karen Nash's flight was delayed. The day before my appointment I received a call to CONFIRM my appointment. The lady said that three people were trying to call and inform me, but somehow I never spoke to anyone or received any voicemails. Totally frustrating. Dr. Nash did a great job on extracting all four of my wisdom teeth. I was very afraid at first for my insurance did not cover anesthesia. She took a look at my x-rays and ensured me that I would be fine without it. She was fast... extracting all four molars in about an hour and a half. She was very calming and accommodating by paying attention to my body language and making sure that I stay calm. I heard about Dr. Nash from my mom and oldest sister whom have all used her for wisdom teeth extractions. Thank you Ms. Karen Nash ;-) Side notes: I did not receive a phone call the day before to confirm my appointment. I received no instructions pre surgery. I could have eaten if I'd known I was not going to be put to sleep. I did not receive any physical post surgery instructions for care. Advice: Get to the pharmacy asap after surgery. Pain kicks in at least 30-45 minutes post surgery. The first day was unbearable, but remember pain is different for different people. read more

Great outcome! At first I wasn't impressed I didn't receive a confirmation call. So i called the day of the appointment and the ladies at the front said that they were happy that I called because for some reason I wasn't on the appointment list. They quickly put me on the schedule with the same time slot and everything. I got there at 1 I was seen about 2 was out about 3:30 .... That time frame wasn't long at all. The ladies at the desk were understanding and attentive. The dental assistant was great. I was told she'd only be able to extract one tooth at a time but she informed me "after looking at my x-Rays" that she could so both. I was numb and it was over quickly . 6 hours later I feel feast of course it's a little tenderness this is a cake walk compared to the pain I've endured for years!!! I'm so thankful. Karen Nash needs to have her licensed taken! I have never been in more shock. I went to Karen Nash to have a tooth pulled. I had switched to Medicaid this year, they refered me to two Dentists I could use. One did not exist any longer and Karen Nash was only one. Long nightmare short, waited long time for her. I requested and paid to be sedated, (thank god) She said nothing to me from the moment she put the I.V. in to when I left. I woke up 3x during sedation first of all. I left without any comments from her. I went home, the next day I rinsed with salt water, immediately water poured out of my nose, I was in shock. I called them immediately, and they told me to come in. I came in, she walked in with what appeared to be an x-ray pic, I told her water was pouring out my nose causing me to choke as well as strange air noises in my mouth. She said I would be healed in 10 days, and to use nose spray, never looking into my mouth and just walked out. Until I got home and started googling my symptoms, I found out that she broke through into my sinus. The stitches came out 2 days later and I developed an infection. The whole got bigger an bigger in my mouth. I sought out a recommended Oral Surgeon to help me. My ins. wasn't covered, but I needed a good surgeon to help me. His first words were, oh boy, I would have never let one of my patients walk out of my office like this. He scheduled me for a procedure, where they put a gel device up in the hole and sew it in there to hope the bone grows and seals the hole. As he attempted that procedure, he became upset and stated to the nurses helping, " I cant use this there's way too much bone loss. My mother was in the room with me and replied, "bone loss?" And he sounding upset told her, yes, too much bone loss, that all I can say, and told my mother she would have to leave now. Never bad mouthing Nash, but said he knows about her, and that's all he could say. Dr's will not talk bad about other Dr.'s, but he gave me enough hint that he is aware of her. While numb he began working in my mouth trying the gel device again and said he had to go to plan B. He mentioned the last resort procedure in my first visit. He began working in my mouth and when he was done, I realized he had to cut my gums on each side of the extracted tooth area and recut hole and pull that tissue over hole and sew it and hope the skin sealed it and hopefully I get some bone growth. It was one of the most painful procedures I have ever had. I believe the procedure is called oroantral Fistula Treatment., that the new oral surgeon had to perform. I had to have all those stitches in my mouth for a month. And the stitches she put in came out two days later. Unimaginable. . This man was so good, kind gentle and compassionate. I thank god I found him. I was butchered pure and simple by Nash. From the reviews Ive also read Ive found it very scary and disturbing this person can still practice. If anyone knows any other sources I can complain to Id appreciate it. I went here a week before Christmas, and although it isn't the nicest place in the world, you really get a bang for your buck and and treated well! I was seen very close to my appointment time, was explained very thoroughly about the procedure that was taking place by Dr. Nash and was not in much pain after it finished. There are definitely some hi-jinks like the receptionist, but Dr. Nash takes care of you and makes sure you are charged exactly what you should be. I live in the far south suburbs and was referred to an oral surgeon by my dentist, Dr. Mazzotti, of Homewood. From the oral surgeons listed, none could see me right away due to it being the week of Christmas, however, I was in pain. I found Dr. Karen Nash on Cigna''s website. I saw that she was black and a woman. I decided to try her. I called made an appointment for 12/23/2016, 10:00am. They told me to come a few minutes early to sign papers since I was a new patient. I got there almost 30 minutes early. Well, the surgeon was a hour and half late. She came in rushing apologizing that she was late. She immediately took the Q tip with the numbing gel on it and put it in my mouth for about 10 seconds, then stuck me with the needle. She then left out saying that when she got back, she would numb me again. When she came back, she proceeded to pick up the tool to pull my molar. I asked her, "Aren't you going to numb me again?" She shook her head, yes and then numbed me more. She didn't wait long after sticking me. She just went to pulling the tooth. I moaned out that I could feel her. Her response--'You don't feel the pain, it's just the pressure" and kept going. She was very rough. The tooth was very decayed, so she was really using all her might to 'WIGGLE' the tooth out. The whole time, I could feel this. Poor customer service, absolutely poor!! I am a RN and work in healthcare. I WOULD, COULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS WOMAN!! It's unfortunate. I really regret not waiting a bit and going to Dr. Donald Bonamo and Dr. Beste in Chicago Heights, Ill. They are extremely professional in every way. I visited this dental office in April 2010. This is the worst dental office I have ever experienced. My appointment was to have an abscess drained and that is all. However, Dr. Nash informed me that I should just have the tooth extracted and proceeded to try and "upsell" me a $3,000 implant! Thank God I refused the extraction and went to my regular dentist for a second opinion. I only needed a root canal which is significantly less money than Dr. Nash's fancy implant. Secondly, the so called billing department of this office is the most unprofessional, rudest billing department I have ever experienced in the dental profession and I have had extensive dental work done at various offices. This billing deparment did not properly verify my insurance and insisted that I pay for the cost of the procedure. I had no other choice as my face was the size of a grapefruit and I needed some relief. I later found out that my insurance company covered more than 50% of the procedure. After that it took me a month of calling Dr. Nash's office to receive a refund for their mistake. The only reason why I believe I received the refund after a month is because I threatened to contact my insurance company and complain to the point where Dr. Nash would be at risk of losing her contract with the insurance company. And even after stating this, I still had to drive all the way back to this dentist's office to receive my refund. Horrible service! It says that this office is closed and it's not but it should be!
