Destiny dental at this location is horrible. I had an exam for 4 extractions and deep clean. Left side done in July. Right side completed in August. Each time I had to walk up front and pay before any procedures were performed. I asked both times is this all I have to pay after being told that Humana would not cover it. (HMO) Now it is September 21st and I received a billed in the mail for 128.00 After going round and round with this receptionist or whom ever I spoke with ( mainly arrogant hispanic personel serving the black community) it was revealed that there was an error on there part for the billing. The receptionist continued to over talk me and I was nor have that nonsense. She admtted they made a mistake however now she pointed to the disclaimer on the form stating that this is only an estimate? Even afeter I asked them repeatedly was this all I have to pay? I have stage 4 cancer and do not have that time for these type of billing errors on their part. In short I was told I have to pay no matter what billing errors they make. That is just wrong. I will be reporting this location to the ADA. The dentist did her job. The individuals doing the billing need t0o be retrained at the very least. I have come to this location on multiple occasions and have called them and requested a call back and that has NEVER happened. Some of the front desk women are rude and illiterate, her response was " You know it aint here cause you aint come yet". Maybe this is the reason they rotate the front staff around so much, it seems like it's time to rotate them again. read more

My dentist there was Emile I don't know why I kept going there she has did more damage then repairs since I started going there. Dentist Emile shaved down my teeth to much and added a bad filling to make it look better but I was back less then a week later because it came off then a different tooth that she put a filling on chipped and she act like she did nothing wrong. I got a crown 1 year ago and came back from out of town and woke up was talking to my husband and the entire tooth came out I went back up to destiny dental so they can fix it and all Emile could say is that it's unfortunate and the supervisor Natalie said that she has never had a complaint on Emile and she don't think that she did anything wrong or put a crown on a tooth that she damaged during prep for the crown which is exactly what happened. When I left the dental office on 10/16/18 for the last time I made sure that I got my complete records and X-rays so I can take it straight to the lawyer I'm suing their unprofessional business. I would not ever recommend going there for anything unless you want very poor customer service and very bad dental work that only makes the problem worse and confidence decline. Some of the staff were very polite and helpful, but I also left there with the impression that Medicaid insurance is NOT welcome there. The front staff at Destiny Dental on 87th and Cottage Grove is lazy and rude. It took them and hour to verfy my insurance which is Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. Then I had to wait another 30 minutes to see the dentist. When I questioned the receptionist she didn't care that I had been waiting for over and hour and blamed Blue Cross??!!! Once I was called back the dental assistant was arogant and did not even introduce himself. He did not help my kids who were scared feel at ease. Unlike some of the reviews I have read, I actually had a very pleasant experience. My appointment was for 1pm, I arrived at around 12:30pm. This was my first time visiting this dentist so I had to complete new patient paperwork. The receptionists were pleasant. I was called to the back at 1:13pm. The dentist was nice and made conversation before giving me a fill in. I was finished and left by 2:15pm. This was great considering there was a lot of people there before me. Thank goodness they don't take my insurance because I will NEVER return. My appointment was rescheduled for 4:30 this evening because the doctor would be out on the day of my original appointment. I had an appointment for myself AND my daughter. I get there 10 minutes early and was told only I was on the schedule. I told the extremely rude receptionist that I would prefer that my daughter be seen instead of me. She hands me the clipboard with new patient forms and doesn't say a word. After 10 minutes, I return the papers. Again, she says nothing. I ask for my cards back and she says she's still using them. For the next hour, I watch people go back, even though I was there before them. I ask another receptionist for the key to the bathroom and instead of using her words, she points to the key. I watch them as they call people back to the desk to get more info about their insurance and realize no one's done so for me. So, at 5:31, I walk up and ask if I have a copay and what do you know? The receptionist has not verified my insurance! She says once she does, I will be taken back. 5 minutes later, she calls me up to tell me they don't take HMOs. If you don't have to, don't go. First, let me start by saying, I do not have a problem with my dentist she was very professional. My issue is with the receptionist. I believe her name is Sanoma, Tonoma, something along those lines.. Young and plenty of attitude. I had just spoken with my insurance company that gave me instructions on how to request for a certain procedure. Missy tells me my insurance company does not cover this procedure. Umm? When I asked to speak to Stephanie in billing. I was told she was busy with a client. I waited over thirty minutes called back. We screened as if I was trying to talk to the President and was finally told she was busy with a customer. Which I know was not the truth. I have also had issues with the office in Bridgeview. It was the same procedure. There aim seems to be to get you to pay for procedures because they don't want to do the paper work. Today, my tooth cracked, the same tooth that I have been attempting to have serviced since the fall. Do not stop at Destiny go directly past go and don't even collect $200.00! lol Not funny Oh, and my appointment was at 3:00pm I was there at 2:45. I've never had a problem with destiny dental before until now, i had an appointment at 2 p.m. this past Friday for a regular teeth cleaning. I got there at 2:06, so I expected to have to wait at least 20 or 30 minutes for my name to be called, but I ended up waiting until 4 p.m. to see my usual dentist Dr. Emeel or however her name is spelled. Then when my name is finally called I get taken into the back room, x-rays on my teeth then have to wait another 30 minutes while the dentists are in another room laughing and joking. Finally, my usual dentist comes in and she tells me I need a root canal also, so I'm yeah okay let's get this over with so I can finally go home but her dental assistant tells me you can go to the receptionist and get a treatment plan. I'm still thinking I'll be able to get the root canal in the same day but nope! So I tried to schedule an appointment for this upcoming week but she's not free until the 8th of NEXT YEAR. So now I'm stuck with this messed up tooth until I can find a new dentist. I wouldn't suggest that destiny dental location or even that dentist to anyone. read more

My 1st appointment was cancelled because they failed to update my insurance after I gave it to them. I rescheduled, and brought my kids Saturday. When I made the appointment the receptionist confirmed my insurance was correct, However when I arrived, she said it still had the old information. This place is a butcher shop! I went to get me a cleaning and filling! I was a first and last time customer. I had a 12p app and waited a hour. Got back there and the assistant was not really friendly. Didn't introduce herself first before she started sticking stuff in my mouth. The place was the dirtiest dentist I've EVER been to. Chairs was torn up, floors dirty. The tools looked old as hell!! Dr finally came in and started the filling first. While he was drilling tooth, he let drill slip and it cut my mouth underneath my tongue and I started to taste blood. All I heard was sorry and he started to stuff gauze under my tongue and kept going. I could not eat for 3 days. Lastly, the cleaning was not done properly. He was done in literally 2 minutes. No buffing or polish on my teeth at all. All while this going on the assistant that's helping the Dr. is having a whole sidebar conversation with her co worker not work related. End result is I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to go there. NO STARS!!! read more

First time here for my children was the same as the second time... I gave this place a second chance because it is near our home and I was trying to teach my children that although one experience with some staff is terrible that does not mean that the service is always like that nor does it mean that all the staff is bad... Well in this case it does! First visit, reception was so so, dental assistants did nothing to make my child (7 years old) feel any way at ease about having tools put in his mouth and gave me a rude look like I was wasting too much time (all of 2 minutes) as I tried to be reassuring to him. A partial exam was done and my youngest son left in tears. (Visit's to other dental offices in the past NEVER ended this way). My oldest son; was concerned about what he said "was their rude way" of handling nervous patients (the reason for which he didn't want to return). Fast forward 6 months later to today; my son's (were in a great mood) after I reassured them the day before and then the day of their appointment and while in the waiting room (that we'll just try this place again, doctors are there to help you not hurt you, everything will be okay, I'll be right by your side etc.) AGAIN reception was so so, the dental assistant asked my son to open wide which he did but not wide enough; immediately dental assistant Darnell was noticeably upset and said "I'm not going to be able to get nothing done," when he didn't open wide enough the second time dental assistant Darnell got up (saying nothing to me) left the room and the dentist came in; oh surprise surprise the rest of the visit went well; although my 7 year old was still a little hesitant the dentist spoke calmly and her body language/demeanor was nice and caring. The doctor needs to speak with her numerous assistants about customer service and care and maybe she needs to fire her friends and hire new assistants or simply not schedule clients like cattle (as this is how this place feels to me & I've never lived on a farm). You sit in the waiting room for a few hours but then your actual visit is rude, robotic and rushed. I went here to teach my kids a lesson about establishments and people AND because I thought newer and younger may have newer advancements in dentistry but we will be going back to our usual much older establishment in the neighborhood; where people are treated by all who work there with a smile and good care! Upon calling to make my first initial appointment I was impressed by the appointment clerk's etiquette. I explained the service I wanted and details of my dental insurance. The clerk confirmed the service and acceptances of my dental insurance. A day before my scheduled appointment I received a confirmation call which I appreciated immensely. On the day of the appointment, I rearranged my schedule to insure that I would be on time, only to find out when I arrived that my appointment was canceled due to overbooking. Though I felt inconvenienced I rescheduled for the following week. On the day of the rescheduled appointment, one hour before the appointed time given , Destiny Dental canceled again and wanted to reschedule two weeks out. I was flabbergasted and declined to reschedule!!!! In my opinion Destiny Dental is inconsiderate of peoples' schedules and time as well as lack the ability service scheduled appointments. read more
