A nice guy. I ended up getting my teeth cleaned but then went back and got them to replace a cap on a chipped tooth. They did a fantastic job and really paid attention to detail. I've already recommended them to friends and I certainly recommend them to anyone who asks.

I am now a patient of Dr. Cousins, and the service and care I've received are nothing short of exceptional. A previous provider led me to believe that fixing my dental issues would be difficult and cost-prohibitive, which made it far easier to drift into inaction. Eventually, I was too afraid and embarrassed to speak to any dentist for a second opinion, and I trained myself to smile with my mouth closed to conceal the more obvious problems. I can't believe how fortunate I am to have lucked into finding this practice during a time of crisis. Dr. Cousins puts patients above the bottom line. He is compassionate, non-judgmental, and attentive to patient comfort. He will not perform procedures that might cause avoidable pain (ex: he sent me home in advance of one procedure to allow extra time for an infection to heal fully). He has a calming demeanor and invests in tools that make for better and faster procedures. He'll even tell you how he heard about them from another cutting-edge dentist on Instagram;) In short, I came to him with a mess and an oral health situation that was profoundly impacting my general health. I now have a plan to correct it, and I am already retraining myself to smile my natural, authentic, open-mouth smile. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Cousins and his staff to anyone.

I trusted this office because it came highly recommended, and as a Black-owned dental practice, I genuinely wanted to support them. Unfortunately, I now feel that the number of patients moving through the office was prioritized over the quality of each patient's care. Dr. Aubert completed my root canal and placed a crown on tooth #19. After the crown later came off, my new dentist examined the tooth and documented a thin layer of old cement, recurrent decay and soft dentin beneath the buildup, excess gutta-percha from the root canal, remnants of temporary filling material, and a cotton pellet still inside the tooth. The affected area reportedly extended beneath the buildup and was approximately seven millimeters deep. My new dentist had to remove the old buildup and decay, rebuild the core of my tooth with fiber-reinforced material, clean the crown, and cement it back into place. The prognosis for the tooth is now described as "guarded to good." I was also uncomfortable that someone who appeared to be a trainee performed part of my molding and crown-placement process, while the dentist mainly came in to examine the work. I cannot speak to the office's internal protocols, but patients should be clearly informed about who is treating them and receive honest explanations throughout every procedure. This experience taught me how difficult it can be to advocate for yourself when you do not understand dental terminology or procedures. Patients trust medical professionals to protect them--not to take advantage of what they do not know. I am sharing my experience because the outcome could have been much worse. I hope it encourages others to ask questions, request their records, and seek a second opinion when something does not feel right. I am incredibly grateful that I found Dental Partners of Creve Coeur. For the first time, a dentist took the time to explain everything clearly, show me what was happening, and correct the problems that were found. That honesty, patience, and transparency have made a life-changing difference for me.

At my first visit, I explained my symptoms, but I was told that nothing appeared to be wrong. I trusted that assessment. A few months later, the pain became unbearable, so I returned. During that visit, the X-rays clearly showed that I had a missing filling on the very tooth that had been causing me pain. Instead of carefully reviewing the X-rays or listening to my concerns, the dentist immediately dismissed my pain by saying it was probably because I have braces. The problem with that explanation is that the X-ray clearly showed the missing filling. I had to point it out myself. As a patient, I shouldn't have to convince my dentist to look at what's right in front of them. I came in because I was in excruciating pain, and instead of feeling heard or cared for, I felt dismissed and rushed. What bothered me even more was the attitude I received after I questioned the explanation. Rather than taking a moment to reevaluate the X-rays or acknowledge my concerns, the interaction became defensive. Patients should never feel like they're being difficult simply for advocating for themselves. Dentistry is about more than fixing teeth--it's about listening to patients, taking their concerns seriously, and providing compassionate care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Because of the lack of attentiveness, professionalism, and compassion I experienced, I have decided to take my business elsewhere. From the moment I scheduled on the phone (they got me in within 2 days), to the waiting room (I waited 10 min max), to the dentist and pictures, I was completely impressed. The dentist (the youngest guy) listened to everything I had to say, joked with me and reassured me they'd figure out the problem. Coming from a "traditional x-ray" place, I was amazed at the technology here with digital images of my mouth that I COULD SEE and the 3D imaging of my entire mouth that he let me look at. The hygienist was also very nice although she didn't need to do much in my case. The dentist poked and prodded to help pinpoint the problem. In the end, I left pissed at my previous dentist as I now need a root canal (gasp! My first dental work in 30 years!) Now, at one point in my life my dad made me wear a mouthpiece to protect my teeth during everything. They were the most prized family possession: all those trips to the ortho, turns of the key to widen the jaw, retainer after retainer. A ROOT CANAL on the family treasure?! I was terrified despite being a regular and generally loving going to the dentist. The day of the procedure he reassured me of my feelings, "yep, they are no fun," and proceeded to start. As far as root canals go, I think this one went pretty well. They seemed very thorough and knowledgeable on the RC. The molar took a little over 2 hours, including getting the final crown (which they make at the location during the procedure). Total cost before insurance was about $2k. I immediately made an appointment for my next cleaning and gave a big finger to the previous dentist!
