A new branch location recently opened in our neighborhood. Our family loves Middle Eastern cuisines and have it least once a week. We have our goto spot but decided to try this place and maybe it might be our new place to add on to our local places to eat. We decided to try the take-out option. We called ahead of time to order and also ask some questions that we have, particularly for garlic sauces if that can be include in our order. We bought the family dinner #1. We went to the store to pick up our order. First thing we notice was that it was very clean and empty. I assumed that since it was new customers were still not aware of the new place. As I came by the counter the food was ready in bags. I went to check the order at the same time I was being charged. I put my card in and even gave tip, now before I paid I remembered to ask about the garlic sauces if it was included. The person said no and I ask if I could have a couple of them and he said that it was $1 each for a small container. I was kinda bummed that the person can't even give out some sauces when I already spent $100+ on food... it wasn't very welcoming to be honest. We ate the food at home and the family thought it was ok nothing out of ordinary. It was enough to fill our hungry bellies. It that regards I'm glad I tasted the food of Kara's. And with the experience I received... I probably won't be coming back since the food was priced a bit high and charged for everything including sauces which I thought was already included in the expensive bundle. We live around the corner and we're eyeing this place before it opened. It's Armenian food. We had never had BBQ Khachapuri sandwich before and were told we had to try it. Wow! It was delicious. We should have ordered 2! We also got the BBQ Chicken sandwich (which was pretty big) with some type of yummy onion tomato salad and Chicken Lula with rice. All great! Checked in here last night, after taking my food home for my family and feasting I forgot to write this review, I think the food coma is to blame! I got the family meal #2 from their menu which was sufficient food for 2-4 people. The kebab from the group pack was very soft and juicy, I can't stand kabob that is too dense. ( they did a great job in that regard ) The lamajuhne, also called "Armenian pizza" is on a whole other level. I was really disappointed and upset about the service that Karas provided to us. We paid so much money for this food, and they failed to prepare whole order. If you increase the price for the food and the service, you must also improve the quality of your food which is also something I want to mention. I've been wanting to try Karas because when I tried it in Armenia it was sooo delicious but here in the US it is the worst! I ordered the grilled chicken first of all it was not one whole chicken since the chicken doesn't have more than two legs and two arms, and second it had HAIR on it not worth it, I don't recommend. We came to North Holliwood from Pasadena for dinner with our relatives , and decided to meet at this place. I've been in Karas Glendale once, and liked the food and drinks, but did not realize that this particular "Karas" doesn't serve alcohol. However, we decided to try it out. I am so happy we did! We've ordered lula kebab, bbq from beef, lamb chops, chicken, and pork ribs. They came with grilled potato slices, grilled peppers and tomatoes, also wonderfully cooked basmati rise pilaf, and side salad with pickled vegetables. We had tarragon, pear lemonade, and coke from glass bottles instead of beer. Server gave us extra plates to share all the food. It was very well done, one of the best barbecues I have had for last several years, even better than at Karas in Glendale! We had such a good time, on top of the tasty and freshly made food, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. They even served nice silverware and porcelain plates, instead of replaceable plastic ones, and made our day with smile and positive attitude. At the end, I want to mention, that this food gave us no bloating, nor heartburn, because it was very fresh and without preservatives. I am allergic, and very sensitive to added food preserves, but I had no alergy at al. I highly recommend this place to people who like fresh, clean, and home-stile grilled and cooked food.
