I know it's under new name now (Kapwa Bakery) but just wanted to leave a review here. We ordered garlic rice, longganisa with eggs for $10 (not sure if $10.50 I forgot or just $10)and garlic rice with tocino and eggs. Pretty decent, it's flavorful. Staff works fast and the breads look very tempting.. clean cafe! They only open from 8am-3pm. Closed on Tuesday. They needed to update website, grub hub and yelp page.

Lumpia was not great and there was a string in my pancit I found mid chew. Horrible first experience.

Coffee was great, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent. If you're craving Filipino food, this is definitely the place to go!

The first time I tried Egrrolly was when they just opened a couple of years ago. I wasn't a fan of the caldereta and beefsteak that I had so I didn't go again, until last month. When my daughter and I walked in on a Friday night, the place only had one table of customers. The server was friendly and attentive. On this visit, we tried the PARES, BINONDO CHICKEN, and PORK BBQ SKEWERS. Everything that we had was delicious. The pares was so flavorful, the chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside. and the pork bbq was tasty and tender. We waited for quite a long time on this visit though. Our server was the only one fronting the place and a few people were picking up take-out orders, and 2 other groups dined in. He did try his best to attend to all the customers but we were there longer than expected. I had an out-of-town guest who loves pares so I decided to take him here after a couple of weeks. I called the place on our way there to put our orders in (so we didn't have to wait a long time again) and they were nice to accommodate my request. For this visit, we ordered the PARES, BINONDO CHICKEN, and the FATTY PORK ADOBO. The pares and chicken were solid but we weren't impressed with the adobo. We also tried SAGO'T GULAMAN, which you can customize the sweetness level and it was delicious. From the bakery section, we tried the UBE BRIOCHE, CHEESE BRIOCHE, SPANISH BREAD, and PANDESAL. They were all freshly made, the brioches were fluffy and soft, and they were simply fantastic. The wait time on the second visit was way better than our first. The server was very efficient and attentive. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained. Overall, I would come back here. Whether to satisfy my PARES craving or get something delicious from the bakeshop. I hope you stay strong Eggrolly, 'til next time!

Cute and cheerful cafe with Filipino sweets and dishes We came to Eggrolly after dinner so I'm only commenting on the sweets portion. First, what a charming and sweet cafe when you enter. There are brightly colored booths, friendly graphics on the wall. Smoothies are made to your left, but the bakery counter beckons with its brightly frosted cupcakes and assortment of Ensaymada Brioche- a tender sweet dough. We tried a brioche with Ube and shockingly it was served with a generous serving of shredded cheese. It was actually quite delicious with the lightly sweet and tender dough with sweet purple Ube. We actually quite liked the cheese on top because it was mellow and gentle, not sharp, and gave a richness to the pastry. We also ordered a halo halo, an ube shave ice with jelly and coconut strips and gulaman. The ube latte was rich and sweet and purple and piping hot. Will return to try the lumpia or the namesake egg rolls.

Closed on Mon-Tue and now Saturday too. Our friends and I drove all the way here one Saturday, only to find out that they're closed. What restaurant is closed on a damn Saturday? I just wish that they're open 7 days a week, just like most of the Filipino Restaurants around. Otherwise they'll tend to loose business to their competitors. Well, I guess we'll put this on the least likely to visit for Filipino restaurants.

Chicken Adobo daily special

First time at Egg Rolly, I arrived just around lunch time on a cold Friday but was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. They went over their daily specials and I have to say that it was difficult to resist since it seems like such a deal. Daily specials are chicken meals, and I had the adobo. I did want orange chicken, but it didn't seem right for a Filipino restaurant. Also had the pancit Malabon which was served with shrimp and egg (I felt it was luxurious since eggs are such luxury these days) The chicken had some charred smokiness and a delicious savory /semi sweet sauce. Absolutely needed rice, and the staff happened to bring out extra rice to us just for that purpose! The star was really the lumpias - we tried pork and shrimp (Shanghai style) and also the straight pork. They were bite-sized and wonderful. Since we were in a bakery I needed some sweets as well to go with the 'egg rolls' so we had the brioche and Spanish breads. Awesome with a black morning coffee. I found out about the brunch options on the weekends and I'll have to come back to try those dishes. I could definitely watch the big game on their TV's and munch on those lumpia good stuff!

2 entree meal deal. Beef steak, beef caldereta, 2 pieces of pork egrolls, white rice. Dipping sauce on the side.

Attended tasting event in April 2024. DH and I were satisfied. I like the beef pares and habanero pork eggrolls with swet and sour sauce. Plenty of parking space. Chef recommends to order celebration cakes in advance. He does not freeze cakes. Ube cakes are made to order.

We came in on a chilly weekday for lunch. The place was empty and even throughout our sit down meal there were only a small handful of only take out orders. Service was phenomenal and the staff was so attentive and incredibly welcoming. We ordered the chicken adobo lunch special and the pancit malabon. Both were good and tasty. We also ordered some lumpia, pork which were crispy and very good. And they also gave us 4 mixed lumpia to try. On the way out we were sure to grab some bakery goods to take home to enjoy the next day.

I came this place with no expectations as I am Filipino and it is a Filipino restaurant. I did not want to cloud my judgement based off of comparisons to other authentic Filipino restaurants I frequently visit. I visited with an open mind. When you step in, the first thing I noticed is the dining area to be fairly large. Straight ahead from the entrance is a full fledged bakery filled with classic Filipino desserts (Cakes, brioche buns aka ensamada, cookies filled with mung bean aka hopia, and so on). The dessert bar is to die for. Even if you don't order any food from the restaurant portion, be sure to order a dessert... You won't be disappointed. When ordering for food, I was told everything is made-to-order. I was greeted with warmth and the people working really helped me with my food options. As their namesake states, they are eggroll first. They still a variety of different types but here's the kicker... They have this homemade "cheesy sauce" that can accompany eggroll order. They also allow you to order entrees to compliment the egg rolls. You can buy the entree as a la cart or x items. Would definitely visit again as all their food is great

As we walked in this place had a young boy and you girl working working the counter. Needless to say both were extremely inexperienced. Especially during the Christmas season and if they weren't they sure acted as if they were. I proceeded to order the remaining pies and when I asked if they could simply box 3 of the 10 pies up in a white box, the boy needed to seek "permission". When he came out he offered to charge extra. I replied "no problem, let's get them going". While he was in the middle of boxing them up another woman came in and ordered one of the pies. Rather than explain this to the young girl he stood there almost scared to say anything. We decided to watch this happen rather the interject since it was Christmas week. We honestly expected the staff member or boy to speak up and let the young girl know we had already ordered them. Well, he did not. And he then proceeded to tell us we were 2 pies short after waiting for 20 min with 4 customers within that time. We decided to just refuse the pies and thank him for the hospitality and left. Very disappointing and very disorganized. I absolutely recommend you avoid this bakery at all cost unless you want a single donut. Or until they decide to hire competent adult staff.

Banana Pudding Bundt Cake made with Nilla: Nothing Bundt Cakes (NBC) Banana Pudding Bundt Cake was…read morefirst introduced in 2025, but its limited run from 2/16-4/12/26 was my first tasting. Opening the container, the cake itself had a yellow/golden color and a mild vanilla aroma. The official description is "a delectably comforting banana cake, baked with real banana puree, made with real Mini Nilla Wafers and drizzled with vanilla pudding" (and of course their delicious, sweet cream cheese frosting). As usual, the texture is superb, with one of the best aspects of their cakes being the exceptional moistness of them. In this case, I think the pudding and possibly banana puree contributes to the moistness factor as this seemed moister than usual (in a good way). This is where things get a little perplexing. The name "Banana Pudding" makes me think that the pudding would be banana flavored, but according to the description, the pudding is vanilla and the batter is what's made with bananas. My taste buds only got a vanilla flavor from both the pudding and the cake though (zero banana). There was a fair amount of vanilla pudding in the center, but both the pudding drizzled on the exterior and in the center is difficult to see with the naked eye. The Nilla Wafers were crisp, but soft. I can't really hold this against NBC because unless eaten immediately after prep it's almost impossible to keep them crisp. It's also important to note that the wafers were baked throughout the cake and not just the conspicuous one decorating the summit. Unfortunately, the Nilla Wafers do not really contribute anything as the overall flavor is already vanilla and the soft texture gets lost within the moistness of the cake. This one is tough because it was a phenomenal vanilla pudding bundt cake, but it's a terrible banana cake. They really should be calling it Vanilla Pudding Bundt Cake made with Nilla. Doughboy approved as a vanilla pudding cake, avoid if you're hoping for bananas. Doughboy_Food_Reviews My top bundt cakes: 1. OREO 2. Biscoff Cookie Butter 3. Confetti 4. Churro Dulce de Leche 5. The first was for a St. Patrick's Day party, where I had ordered a tray with 2 pounds of cookies. When I arrived, I noticed that the tray didn't have St. Patrick's Day cookies, just regular cookies. The owner was the one waiting on me, and when I mentioned this to him he apologized immediately, said there must've been a miscommunication, and asked me if I could wait five or 10 minutes and they'd make a brand new tray for me. It probably would've been okay if I took the original tray, but I knew our group really wanted St. Patrick's Day themed desserts for this party of about 40 people. So I said sure I could wait, and the tray they put together was absolutely beautiful. Besides the cookies, it also included some little plastic St. Patrick's Day themed rings and other decorations. Fast forward to last week, when I was tasked with bringing the dessert for a monthly board meeting. I called and again spoke with the owner, and explained what I needed. I thought it would be fun to bring some holiday-themed items, and I had seen a picture of their Yule logs on their website, so I inquired about those. We chatted about it, he asked me the type of cake and filling, I also ordered a 1 pound box of cookies and a gluten-free cupcake for one of our members, and I picked them up before the meeting two days later. Everything was absolutely perfect. Their Yule logs are beautiful - mine looked exactly like the picture on their website - and again there were little rings and other decorations on it. One of the other board members was so impressed with it that she immediately said she was ordering her own for the holidays and took several pictures of it, and everyone asked me what bakery I used. Oh, and the cookies and cupcake were great, too! I have a feeling they'll be getting some more business from our group from this for sure, as they should!

And ever since I don't work downtown anymore, I needed to search the northwest burbs for the best chocolate cake. There was always this franchise (Portillo's) that served their famous chocolate cakes by the slice. It was moist and really good. And they remained the best one for such a long time since I really couldn't find any worthy competitors around the northwest burbs, until I saw this tiny shop along Waukegan road-Ganache Bakery. I had to go inside and see what they havd to offer. The word Ganache alone was enough for me to seek em out. Lo and behold, they had Chocolate Cake with ganache icing inside! It was soft and moist and melted in your mouth! I was in heaven! Finally, a place I knew would supply me with the best chocolate cake worthy of any grand celebration. Unfortunately, after the third and fourth purchase, I noticed that it didn't taste the same as the first time we had it. It wasn't as light as the initial experience. It was actually a bit heavier, more dense. It was still moist but, it just wasn't the same anymore. Oh well, the search is back on.
