What's a great escape from the smell of petroleum refineries in the area? A smoky casino,…read moreapparently! I don't like casinos, though I do like casino history. If I were rating on that, I'd give it one star, but that wouldn't be fair to little Caesar. (Caesar's is the current operator. No Binion here.) The smoke is bad. Very few people were lighting up, but the stagnant remainders of "freedom" made my throat burn. (And no, a token smoke-free area completely surrounded by smoking is nothing but a cruel charade! You gotta be kidding!) It's a pleasant place otherwise: nice and spacious inside, a good variety of slots and tables to lose your money and pay for the lovely lights, and staff were friendly. Would I go back? I have no idea. It's not my scene to begin with, but I don't think I'd protest if someone dragged me there. If there were a next time, I'd bring a good mask. And maybe a good psychiatrist.

Man, the comments here couldn't be anymore valid. If you're a non-smoker I don't recommend coming…read moreto this casino. As soon as I walked in I was overwhelmed with the smell of cigarette smoke making it very hard for me to breathe. They do have a non smoking section but the smoke smell is so overwhelming from the other sections it really doesn't make a difference. Left after ten minutes of walking around the casino.

Check-in is at 4 pm but I got these early and decided to try my luck and check in 30 minutes early and was allowed to do so at no charge. Front desk attendant was wonderful from greeting me to explaining how to get to my room and where to park and even apologizing for no upgrades being available. The room was huge, very clean and well taken care of. Because this is an older establishment I was thinking the worst but ended up being impressed. Definitely will be coming back.

If you want to visit this location and your frame of reference is Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas or…read moreeven Caesar's in New Orleans, this place will definitely be a disappointment. The casino is smaller and less glamorous but not terrible. They have a good selection of slot machines and some table games and the staff is very friendly. The location is a bit out of the way, down some desolate roads and there are a few better casinos in the area and if you are smoker, you will be relegated to one of the saddest smoking areas you will ever see...a lonely, dimly lit room where you will feel like a social pariah. If you have to get your gambling fix fulfilled, this place will do but if you seek a bit of excitement, this may not be your spot.

My mom is here and suggested a visit to the casino, so we headed over. It's very nearby but I've…read morenever been here before. From the start I was not super impressed. I'd planned to use the valet, but couldn't find it. There are signs pointing to valet, but there was no the tell-tale podium outside either of the entrances that we passed by. When we left, we took the long way around and I'm not sure if the valet is in the back of the casino (who would think to look there, especially given the arrow pointing left instead of up?) and then further down toward the backside of the parking garage there was a sign that said valet was down there. The whole point of valet is to get out curbside... I'm really not sure what was going on here. I was going to park in the disabled section so mom could use her permit, but she realized she left it at the house. There was a spot close enough so we chose that instead. What was weird is that there was a sidewalk in front of the disabled spots, but there was no curb cut at the end of that sidewalk (that was the most direct route to the entrance) and to get to the curb cut we had to go into the rideshare pick-up area, which isn't necessarily the safest route nor is it always going to be accessible if there are cars waiting there. In short, doesn't seem super friendly to disabled folk. (Oh, and they only have one door at the main entrance that has an auto door opener, and it's easily missed.) We got our player cards at the Rush Rewards counter. Giving them our email addresses gave us $10 in free play. I don't understand how the cards work nor how to get the free play off them--I had to call one of the attendants to make it work for me. We play the penny slots--I mean, we're not richies who can go for the quarter ones--and there was a good number of them here. But there seemed an unusual number that weren't quite working. I think we saw four that were just totally shut down with some sort of paperwork taped to them, and then there were a couple we tried to use that didn't accept mom's voucher slip. And we encountered a few fellow patrons that were pretty rude. Most astonishing is the woman who reached over my mom's shoulder to put money in a machine as I was situating her wheelchair in front of the machine. Unbelievable. There are several restaurants at the casino; Chinese, a taco place, burgers, and a steakhouse or two. Ample parking--in addition to the surface lots, there's a parking garage next to the main building. There are also a couple of hotels next odor to the casino, and I don't think that Rivers itself has a hotel on site.

They…read morehave added a bunch more slot machines when you initially walk in, something that was once dead space and felt like you were walking into the abyss of losing money. It now feels brighter and a little more lively. They've also moved the customer service desk and it's no longer hidden by slot machines, but it is weirdly placed behind the elevator. I don't think there was anything in this space previously. I wish there were better food options here - the fast casual option is just ok.. I honestly would not pay to eat here again, the prices do not justify, especially after gambling for a few hours. The slots have drastically improved in the last few months, way more of the new machines instead of those poor slots that were on their last leg. There are the occasional machines that have a sticky button or a chair that has seen better days, but overall, I think this place is on an upwards swing.
