I came here this time to play a little poker on a Saturday afternoon and kill some time while in the area. I've been here a few times going back many years actually, but it was always just to enjoy one of the eateries housed here. I did also grab a bite to eat at their H Burger and visited their Seven Stars VIP Lounge, but will review those separately. Why No Limit Texas Hold 'Em then (that is, why the most popular by far variant of poker played these days)? For one, I was on a boys' fun day out with my high roller brother-in-law, so why not try to take other suckers' money? For another, we were in the area to attend a function at the newish and not far away Hard Rock Casino but they don't have poker there for whatever reason. It seems apparent though that poker isn't a high enough margin operation for them as there is plenty of other gambling going on there. Anyway, the poker room here worked and I only had a 15 minute wait after checking in at about 1pm. They only had 3 tables going and there were 6-7 players at my table. They have a total of 34 tables and in their heyday as "the" poker room of the midwest, all of these tables would have been occupied, and with a healthy waitlist time. They're way past their heyday now, but I enjoyed my 2 hours of poker entertainment here nonetheless. It was interesting for me to compare them to the vibrant poker room at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines which is the current hot spot for Chicagoland casino poker. Overall, I give them an OK here, and thank you and good luck Horseshoe!

My wife's former co-worker came down to get a 1099 for her winnings

03/23/21 - I came here today to collect my $75 million dollars & they said they have no mo money. All kidding aside we came down here as a favor to my wife's former coworker so she could get her 1099's. She use to live in Chicago but retired & moved back to Batangas in the Philippines. You might think this is crazy but when you win $11,000 & $4,000 at 2 different casinos you have to report the winnings. I'm not much of a gambler. I don't like to throw my money away so as a rule I don't gamble much. While I was waiting I lost a whopping $10 on the slot machines. Some of my wife's coworkers go to the casino on a regular basis. Her friend told me she said her loss limit @ $200. Once the $200 is gone she would stop. Only on this particular night her 2 coworkers weren't ready to leave. So on this particular night she ended up staying & playing & ended up winning $11,000. Yowser what a stroke of luck. There doesn't seem to be anything that would make me Want to come back to the casino. Typical casino w/lots of machines & colored lights. This was on Wednesday morning & the casino was fairly empty except for a lot of senior citizens killing time & using their social security checks. After I lost my $10 I grabbed a seat in the lounge where the sports betting lines are. Stephen A, Molly & Max all on the big screens taking up an entire wall bigger then my whole Basement where my tiny tv is at.

Stopped here while coming thru Chicago - what I like about this casino is it is off on its own island and away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago etc. There is plenty of parking linked onto the building, parking garage, as well as plenty room around the casino so you don't feel overwhelmed. Casino was clean when I was there - staff was nice and the dealer at the table I was at was very nice. I can see where this place would be lit up on a weekend night, but that's not a bad thing if they have enough tables open. Bathrooms were also very nice

We celebrated our brother's birthday here. He LOVES the Village Square buffet. The variety is hard to beat, but for dessert go with froyo or gelato. The cupcakes did NOT taste fresh. I did NOT like that they changed some shuttle stops every 4 hours instead of 2. Chinatown has shuttles EVERY hour, for free. If you drive there's plenty of indoor parking. The cashier who admitted us to the buffet was pleasant, funny and honest. She said the frozen margarita was not nearly as good as the one on ice. I agree they smoke here is ridiculous, and I have not had much luck with the non-smoking section for slots. I am not certain if the tables are non-smoking. If you live in a place where smoking indoors is a no-no, this is either an oasis or a waking nightmare for you!

He automatically assist me when he sees me arrive knowing I'm on a knee scooter from a recent surgery. He jumps to action and gets me in and out of my vehicle and in and out of the casino with excellent customer service while doing so. My second compliment is to Cameron. He's a hotel clerk and he has basically saved lives with an issue I brought to his attention about fire safety in the hotel. He said he'd let his supervisor know immediately. The next day the safety issue I had saw was correct. Kudos Cameron!! Your quick actions may have eventually saved lives. My third compliment is to Dureil. Not positive how it's spelled this amazing clerk his very positive and he has awesome customer service skills. He's very respectful and he assisted me with moving my items from a room that smelled of smoke into a reissued room for me. Highly respect this gentleman for his assistance. Fourth and not least is David King. I had an accidental overcharge to my account from Ameristar and he jumped to action at 3am to leave notes to the day supervisor to assist returning the overcharge to me. His actions immediately got the day supervisor to reverse charges back to me before I left the hotel for errands that very morning. And a second compliment to David King. The very next day he helped assist extending stays for me to help with my surgery recovery and to readjust to a disabled room due to the fact I'm on a knee scooter and had trouble accessing the shower. These four displayed amazing customer services skills and Ameristar staff please recognize these gentlemen. They went above and beyond their duties and made my stay a more comfortable stay than I had expected. I also want to add two excellent individuals in Club 38. I want to recognize Martha. She keeps Club 38 constantly clean Everytime my fiance and I visit. She is an awesome human being and she is always alone when she works and gives great customer service despite being overworked. I also like to compliment the crew that hands out the food. They know me and my fiance are vegetarians and immediately jump to action to help our dietary needs. I especially like to give a shout out to Tish. The day I came in after my surgery she told me that when I return she will definitely assist me to my table with my items and if I need anything during my recovery she will definitely take care of me. I also want to give kudos to a slot attendant also. Her name is Michelle. She sees me and my fiance and she gets excited and gives us both hugs. She is an amazing human and makes us feel comfortable and welcomed to the casino. Also, please recognize Danielle at the brothers burger/late night sportsbet bar. She is awesome. She is provides amazing customer service and goes above and beyond for me and my fiance.

We didn't know what to expect, but we were both excited to go to a new venue since this was our first ever rock concert. We went to see Dokken and it was awesome! Atmosphere: Some of the other reviews mentioned it was hard to find The Venue.e and my boyfriend didn't find it hard at all to find it. If you pay attention to the signs, it tells you where it's at. One thing I heavily disliked about going through the casino just to get to The Venue was the smell of pure cigarettes. I do not smoke at all and it was not an appealing smell at all. I wish they had a separate entrance that leads directly to The Venue without having to go through the casino smelling all of that. Layout: The layout of the venue was decent. I bought me and my boyfriend floor seats and we were the 2nd row from the stage. The view was nice for the price. I thought it was interesting that some people kept leaving their seats just to get closer to the stage. I kept asking myself why don't they just purchase floor seats, but the security kept telling them to go back to their seats which I appreciated. Food/Drink Items: There was an okay selection of beverages (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) as well as light snacks. I'm not a drinker, so I just got a water bottle. They only had mini bottle waters and it was $2. I wish they had a bigger bottled waters. The mini bottled water reminded me of the 8 oz Kirkland one from Costco. It probably was and ended up putting the casino's name on it. Overall Experience: Overall, me and my boyfriend had a great experience with the concert at this venue. It's a tad smaller than other ones we've been too, but it also wasn't crazy crowded or sold out which worked out for us. I hope this review helps The Venue at Horseshoe Casino & its current and future customers. Have an amazing day!

The room had some sort of a musky smell when we first came in, but we got used to it after the first day.
