I have a meeting in the Loop today so I'm headed to the city on the express train which has very few stops. Not all of the trains are express only the ones during rush hour. You can purchase a monthly pass or round trip ticket. Since I do most of my work from home, I buy tickets as needed. My tickets today total a little under $7.50 round trip. For a comfortable and relaxing ride, hit the rail to the Loop!

Another thing you should know before traveling, is that the station is actually 1.5 miles away from downtown Dyer, and the trains are regularly late. Lastly, if your train is delayed, there's a Subway and a sessional ice cream shop right next to the station.

There's a Starbucks nearby too if you have time to grab something. Depending on when you go, there's usually plenty of parking. The platform does require going up a lot of stairs so be prepared for that little jog. There is an old elevator that you could use but I can't guarantee if it always works or isn't dirty. Platform signs and announcements are clear and easy to understand. And from there you just hop on your correct train, show the conductor your ticket and enjoy the ride!

The place is super welcoming for rail fans and accommodating with no employee hassles which was cool, because I get hassled a lot by rail employees. The whole area is a rail fans paradise with lots of public access to so much action which was just awesome for my visit. This is the station for rail fans that want non stop action that will not let you down, two thumbs up here.

Told me to stow my bag above. I tell him the train is never full. He says it will fill up. Well it didnt. I left a note for him because I couldn't find him saying: "I thought the train was gonna fill!" So this guy with no self control and wearing a Metra uniform confronts me in the lobby of the station Are you seriously this stupid? Little people with no power. I'm sure you're the pride of Metra and their best employee. Good customer service!

This transportation company focuses more on race than qualifications or the character of their…read moreemployees! The workers are loud and UNCOUTH! Often group up on the trains and express gripes about the company among each other loudly while riders can hear. The workers are and can be passive aggressive. More training is needed on working with and in the general public!

I totally agree with some of the negative reviews here. I have no problem with the train/train…read moreride itself. However when you arrive at the station, there is no accessibility up to the station. Period. So if you have any difficulty with stairs or steep long ramp, get ready for pain and try not to fall. There's the worst elevator ever at the north end of the platform which they call 205 elevator. It does not take you up to the station. Rather, it leads outside to nothing. No cab stand here, took away the buses from here. Now you're stuck. I called a cab via Curb - $17. Instead you must use the ramp or 1st set of stairs, walk though the station, more stairs, brings you to the main entrance which is where you will find a cab stand for morning travel. Just thought this might be good information before you ride. This is the MAIN station and should be better.
