I had my first 2-hour session with her yesterday and in only 2 hours, Brianna was able to curb all of the bad behaviors from my pup that I have been trying to curb for almost a year. I was very nervous and skeptical before our session as it's really, but I mean REALLY hard to find a good trainer, but now I am a believer and forever grateful to Brianna for the work she has done on my dog. From the minute she came in, she was cool, calm, collected and completely knew how to deal with the situation... even when my dog was barking, jumping and testing her. My pup is a pit mix rescue and she's generally a very good and friendly dog, but at home, she has developed a lot of overprotective barking and anxious behaviors. She'll bark at everyone that comes close to the apartment, people talking in the hallways, my neighbors opening and closing the doors, even delivery people in the elevator, everything! I am sure I have become the nightmare of the building with my dogs incessant barking, and I don't blame them. She even barked and jumped a Brianna when she came in, but after our session, my neighbor, who my dog has never met came in and she did not let out a single bark or jump!!! My dog was calm as a cucumber. Aside from that, there were a few other problems like being scared of the vacuum, food begging, and just overall hyper, nervous energy with her. When I rescued my mixed terrier, Holly, I didn't know what it meant to own a reactive dog - let alone a dog that reacted to every single dog she saw, big small, male, female - it didn't matter. My husband and I have used her as both a trainer and for her dog walking services for almost 2 years. Our Teddy is a fairly well behaved, mostly submissive pup but his Jack Russell side sometimes gets the better of him. So, he used to pull us when on leash and if he gets too excited around other dogs, he'll chase and nip. Brianna showed us how to be the boss and got Teddy walking either beside us or behind us. She showed us how to control him when he's out of control around other dogs. Exercise and discipline then affection. Yeah, she's trained with Caesar but she's really made the method her own by her constant work with dogs of all ages, sizes and temperaments. She's also an extremely decent, reassuring and fair person, she'll answer any and all questions we have about Teddy in a timely manner. She offers the occasional free pack walk in Astoria Park to all her clients as a way of us bonding with our dogs as well as other people and their dogs. It's really empowering to walk your dog calmly in the midst of a huge pack of other calm dogs. She does all these things because she really cares about dogs and their humans. Her family helps out a little with her business so it really is a intimate, team effort and she's also very careful when screening assistant dog walkers. I'm a first-time dog owner, so when my family's new rescue pup started exhibiting some behavioral issues, I knew I needed to consult a professional. When I scheduled the appointment with Brianna, I primarily wanted to provide relief for my dog's anxiety and subsequent minor aggression, but she was able to facilitate a behavior overhaul I didn't even know he needed. Brianna's style is old school and foundational, and she's not going to ply your dog with treats to make it perform commands or tricks. In our case, simply teaching our dog to sit or heel would have been putting a bandaid on the underlying issue, and Brianna knew that instantly upon meeting us. She pulled no punches in letting me and my fiance know that our behavior was part of the problem, and while that was a little hard to hear, within 10 minutes of beginning the session I knew she was 100% correct. My fiance and I were not pack leaders; she showed us how to correct that so that our dog behaved better across contexts--not just when exposed to anxiety-provoking stimuli. Amazing service and rates! We have two Maltese dogs (Nibbler & Riley) and were looking for someone in Astoria to walk and potentially board them while we were away on vacation. My boyfriend and I recently rescued a dog. She is generally a good, sweet, dog, but we wanted to take care of some nipping issues. Brianna/Kapooch made being a dog owner possible in NYC (without a backyard!). Our dog was very reactive, and we had been doing months of training with limited improvement. We couldn't take our dog anywhere, we could barely walk her outside, and had mini anxiety attacks every time one of her triggers (mainly other dogs) went by. My vet recommended Brianna after my rescue dog Appalachia -- who's incredibly sweet with people but was very territorial with other canines -- nipped at another dog in my building. Without exaggeration, Brianna deduced the problem within minutes of walking into my apartment, and by the end of my first two-hour session with her, she had given me all of the tools I needed to correct the situation, which was 98-percent about my behavior when I was walking App. She even brought her own dogs out so that we could create real-life situations that allowed her to observe App and me and give me real-time feedback. The training she provided was so effective that I never even called her back for the follow-up session that was included in the package I bought. We rescued a 1.5 yr old Lab/Pit mix about 6 months ago. While he is generally a really great dog, he has some issues interacting with dogs he does not know. This behavior can range between a light bark or pulling on the leash to a full fledged fight (of which he has been in several that left him with cuts, wounds and scars). We booked Brianna's services from Kapooch after Beuford bolted across the park and picked a fight with another pooch. We had enough of that behavior fearing it could escalate into something very serious where Beuford may really hurt another dog or, even accidentally, another person. We were able to meet with Brianna a day or two after the incident. We cannot speak for her dog walking or boarding services but as a trainer, she is top notch. We knew going into this that a big part of training was working with our behaviors and how we interact with Beuford. We purchased the multi-visit package which incorporates one 2 hours long initial session followed up by an additional 1.5 hour long session at another time of our choosing (though she did mention that we could have broken the time up however we wanted as long as the sessions gave her enough time to observe Beuford and us and teach us some techniques). Our initial visit was long, but thorough. She spent the first half hour talking with us about our concerns and issues, recapping anything we have done in the past to help control his behavior. She then observed our interactions with Beuford both indoors and out and brought along her dog to help out with some of the practice. Brianna's review is simple, she is thorough, thoughtful, patient and direct. It is obvious she cares a great deal about what she does and made the training process easy, stress free and even a little fun. Our dog has completely transformed. He is more calm at home and on our walks, no longer pulls on the leash nor overreacts when meeting new dogs. He is still learning and finding his place in our pack but it has only been three weeks and two sessions since we started working with Brianna. Brianna and Team Kapooch get the highest praise. First a bit of a background story, we have a rescue poodle blend and even though he's the best dog ever, I know he is wild and harbors aggression issues. For years we have side stepped the trouble issues and learned to deal. Upon leaving town for the holidays we reached out to Kapooch for pet boarding. Brianna scheduled an interview to meet our four-legged-fuzzy-son. When we met up she had a very inviting and calm demeanor, the perfect vibe you want for someone looking after your dog. After some background info she asked if it would be ok to do a quick training session. In about 10min I couldn't believe it - total 180. Instantly our pup was calm, relaxed and attentive. So of course I agreed to boarding. Fast forward to when we picked him up, TOTAL ANGEL!! From the barking at other dogs during walks, going crazy around the food bowl and separation anxiety he has made huge strides.
