We rented snorkel gear for the day and they were super helpful! We've snorkeled before, but still are beginners, and they made sure we knew how to adjust the equipment and use it correctly. They also let us know which coasts would be good and not so good for snorkeling that day due to swells. We could keep the equipment for 24 hours, which was really nice not to have to rush back the same day before they closed! It was about $15 for snorkel gear (mask, fins, snorkel) for 2 people for the day. read more

Great location, very friendly owner, excellent price ($10 for 2 hours), quality bikes and a beautiful coastline to enjoy. As the name implies, they also rent snorkeling gear, surf boards, boogie boards and other gear. Convenient shop if you need any type of dive gear from knives, snorkels, full wet suites + they carry camo Cressi suites which are bad ass for any type of spear fishing. They carry 3mil-7 mil suites for sell at decent fair prices. The shops also carries Good brand masks, pretty much anything you need for the ocean. Oh can book Spear Fishing trips through them and snorkel trips. Nice people that work in the office. Really helpful with all my questions. I recommend heading over to the Shop and they are close to good food trucks. That's a plus. read more

I have used Kapaa Beach Shop in the past and they provide top-notch service. Also, their equipment is clean and great quality. I was planning another trip this year and to rent their equipment for another week. Mike, either store manager or owner that I talk with told me that most of North Shore are closed due to storm damage. This must hurt their business, but he was so cool to let me know even knowing that now I will not rent their equipment anymore. This is AAA customer service for Kapaa Beach Shop. We rented 4 great bikes with 7 speeds and a basket with locks but we didn't end up stopping as the ride was so beautiful and fun. Bikes from Kapa'a Beach Shop were $10 each for 2 hours and rode an amazing scenic oceanfront bike path that went on for miles! Totally awesome experience I wish we could do every day. Had a blast with our bikes from Kapaa Beach Shop!! Great 3 speed cruisers, perfect for the coastal trail and for tooling about kapaa town. Steve provided us with baskets, locks and great info for both biking and snorkeling, including very good info about changing weather and options for both snorkling and watching surfers. Great deal, $10 a day for a bike, wow, best deal for fun. If you do one thing besides swim here, rent bikes from Steve and explore Kapaa and the coastal trail! If you start early enough you can grab both lunch and happy hour by bike and be back by 6!!! read more

If you need beach rentals, this is the place. The staff is friendly and took the time to show us their equipment. I rented a chair and umbrella for only $10 for the day (with return the next day before closing). The only thing about this place is that they are closed on Saturdays. I had a rental that I wasn't able to return on Friday (they close at 6) and was a bit worried about returning it since we were leaving the island on Saturday. I tried calling the shop, but it was obviously closed and got the answering machine. I sent an email to the address listed on Yelp explaining my situation. This is the reason for the 5 stars...I received an email response in a timely manner with instructions on returns while they are closed. Inexpensive rentals, friendly staff...good combo. read more

Wow is all I can say! what a great experience overall. The shop has all kinds of good gear to rent. I scuba dive and recognized a lot of the gear as great quality brands. We rented two chairs an umbrella and a cooler with wheels and was the best thing we did for our whole trip. The equipment was all fantastic and for the price of a couple of Açaí bowls and coffee we were set for the week. I had a slight problem with one of the chairs and quickly swapped it out faster than it took me too park the car. Mike thanks for the quick responses to my emails and helping me find the perfect beaches. You will be my first stop when I land back on the island for all my future vacations. Nice lady running the desk when we went in. This business is right near the Kauai Path so it's perfect for renting bikes. Prices seemed to be reasonable and they offer beach equipment rental as well. Chairs, umbrellas, etc. check out the shopping tents across the street for inexpensive tshirts, sarongs and other souvineers. Much much cheaper! Arrived at 3:30 for a one hour bike ride on the short 4.5 miles of trail. Was treated by a smart-ass clerk. Come to find out the lazy man had already "put the bikes away" and was planning his escape from work... He begrudgingly took a couple of minutes to get the bikes out for us. It was $20 for one hour on the bikes and sophomoric customer service. Find a different place to go! read more

The hotel I was staying out was out of rental bikes for the day. I had a problem. I had places I wanted to go to and things I wanted to do, all made much easier with a bicycle. The young lady at the hotel desk told me to call "Janie or Mike" at the Kapaa Beach Shop, and maybe they would drop off a bike at the hotel for me to rent. I made the phone call and spoke to an extremely friendly Janie who said tha she would be able to drop off a bike for me to rent. No more than 15 minutes later Janie and Mike stopped by the Hotel with a bike. Frankly I was stunned that this busy couple (owners) would take the time, in the middle of their work day, to drive a single bike for a random first time customer who was late making a request for a bike. For what it is worth the Kapaa Bike Shop has won this customer for life. Why in the world would I go anywhere else for my; bike rentals, dive and snorkel gear, beach apparel and ...... spear fishing needs (all off their business cards that I intend to pass out). My family wanted snorkel gear and boogie boards for a good price, and that's what we got. Mike greeted us with a big smile and helped us find our gear. He was patient when we needed to try MANY different flippers and masks. Since I have glasses, we asked whether or not they had corrective masks. He helped me find the perfect pair and, again, was patient with me. After that we got our boogie boards. He told us tips on how to get better waves and good beaches to snorkel and boogie board on. While we were checking out, we were greeted by the sweetest dog you've ever met, Chaos. He may seem big and scary, but he's so sweet. We are going to snorkel now, thanks to this great place. Second trip to Kauai-love this island! My wife rented a bike from them on the first trip and came back and raved about them. So, on this trip, my daughter and I joined her. Seats were super comfortable and you can get a basket to go on front. Great deals on snorkeling and boogie boards. No time limit on all-day rate as owners live there.
