    Shisk Kabob
    Day A.

Foos was tasty. We order a shish Kabob and rice was amazing and meat was juicy. My lime mojito was refreshing. The only thing we don't like was the tip of 18% was included regardless of party size. We don't think we received a good service. Most likely, our waitress was slow even the place was not busy. Also, we asked for water and she gave us a bottled water which we saw in our bill later. Make sure to order tapped water because you will be charged otherwise. Place was clean.

Family was in town over the weekend and we feasted. Well you can see for yourself the amount of food given was more than we had imagined. It's said the kabob platter here is for 6 people, but we fed almost double and had left overs! Of course the ribs accounted for some of that also, but it is certainly a mountain of meat! The kabobs and chicken were great. Cooked to the most delicious and juicy point. I do like a bit of spice with my kabob, so some of the sauces on the tables really got their use with us. The ribs are brought out with a dome to reveal the smoke at the table, which is a nice touch. I was caught off guard with the "extra" meat they provided and charged for, as I wasn't aware the up charge for their by the los meat. They did have a show they do when there is a full house, and it was FIRE! Ambiance, check, vibes, check, food, check!

Lamb Shoulder or Prime Rib... I can't tell....
    Chris D.

I'm not a meat person and I couldn't tell the difference between the prime rib and the lamb shoulder... but it was delicious. I loved the baba-ganoush... loved it so much that I over stuffed myself with it before the meats came out. The meats was super soft and fell off the bone... I feel like I missed a chance to say something super inappropriate... but I digress... I was so stuffed from putting those meats in my mouth that I didn't have any room for dessert. Another missed opportunity...

We tried Kanoon in Herndon and had a great experience. I ordered the smoked beef rib with smoked rice, and it was incredibly tender and flavorful. My wife had the 1/2 chicken with rice, which was excellent as well. For drinks, I had the fresh carrot juice while we also tried the mint lemonade, both were refreshing. The restaurant has a nice interior, and you can tell they take pride in showcasing their Palestinian heritage. All the meat is halal, and while the menu feels a little expensive , everything we tried was definitely worth the drive.

It's really nice to find a halal place, that offers delicious smoked meats, kabobs and much more. We came here for Father's Day and luckily we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered the mint lemonade and that was very refreshing and good. We also ordered karak tea and it had really good flavors but the tea was a little water down. We ordered short ribs, kabob platter and smoked meat platter. Everything was off the bone tender and full of flavor. The service and very nice and overall excellent experience specially for people who love smoked meat. I suggest making a reservation because as we were leaving the line was forming outside and there was a wait.

This is a Palestinian-owned restaurant, and we were excited to try it. We ordered two entrées along with strawberry lemonade and mint lemonade, and the total came out to around $150. Please note that gratuity is automatically added to the bill without any heads up. The smoked rib was excellent and much of the food was very enjoyable. However, the onion rings came out undercooked and still had raw flour on them (see picture). When we mentioned this, the waiter simply said, "I suggest not to eat it and I'll bring you another one," with no apology, which felt dismissive. What ultimately left us disappointed was the way we were treated. While others seemed to receive more attentive service, we felt overlooked throughout the meal. It gave us the impression that, as customers from a different background, we were not valued the same way as others.

I ate here for lunch today and the food was exceptional. I had the hummus, Turkish coffee, 1/2 smoked chicken with yellow rice, and the fall-off-the-bone ribs. The total bill was around $125 but it was worth it. I love the taste of Middle Eastern food. There is an upfront 18% tip, but since the service was fine, I didn't complain. Although having a recommendation to tip more seems a bit arrogant. Bulgur wheat is an acquired taste that I did not enjoy but the rest was fantastic.

Smoked short ribs prime Angus beef. DELICIOUS

Happened to be in the area and found this spot online. It was the middle of the day so it wasn't busy. Customer service was great as it felt like I was the only one being catered to. Wissam was was the server and she was able to run down the menu explaining items and making great suggestions. The smoked short rib I had was so good!! So tender!! Melt in your mouth!! I will definitely be back again! Wissam mentioned that they do a fire show with the meats during the evenings on the weekend I think, that is supposed to be a must see event!

    Ribeye steak and rice

Really want to give it a 4.5, but that's not an option. Great ambience. Staff was warm and friendly, our server Wissam really went above and beyond to make our dining experience positive. My Shish Tawook was very good, nicely presented, generous portion. The ribeye was just so so, we received a rather fatty portion and per my companion was "from an old cow". Seasoning was right, and the sizzling presentation was awesome, but not enough to overcome a subpar cut of meat. I suspect on another day we might be a lot happier with the steak. Chairs and booths are comfortable, the tables are not crowded all together to maximize seating (I appreciate this!) And one can look into the kitchen. Smells great, with the meat roasting. Don't bring your vegetarian friend. We both had tiramisu cups for dessert, they were good and came in self-contained plastic cups, perfect for taking the extra home.

The food was delicious and service by Wasem was awesome. Will definitely come back and try other things on the menu. We tried Lamb Shoulder and Beef Ribs.

Amazing place!!! You can feel the love when you enter and the food was amazing. I got the mix platter and the flavors were just hitting on every meat and I got the wheat flakes rice... I think that's what it's called in English. Will definitely come back with my family!!!

Our first time at the restaurant and it won't be our last. We were greeted at the door in a timely manner and seated very quickly as well! Our server Wissam was AMAZING! She was so sweet and was constantly checking on us to make sure we were doing ok! The food was absolutely delicious and there was so much to choose from. We got the short rib with a side of bulgur as our main course and OMG unreal! The restaurant was spotless and well maintained. We can't wait to go back!

This is not one of those places where you can get a $20 meal and for that I am happy to go to this place because I know how much high-quality meat cost and this place definitely delivers This was a once in a lifetime experience trying this meat. The ribs were unbelievable better than most high quality American barbecue places I have been to. My friend tried the shrimp and said it was one of the best he ever had. I have had hummus so many times in my life, but never did I ever taste hummus like this. It was clearly fresh and packed with flavor. The baba ghanoush appetizer was also very good and my friend tried the Turkish coffee he loved it. I absolutely cannot wait to go back to this place to try more stuff

I tried this place out for lunch on a rare outing without my wife and when the craving for cart style meat over rice struck. The restaurant was completely empty during peak lunch hours, which did not bode well. I nonetheless proceeded and ordered a combo chicken/lamb platter over rice to go. Shah's sauces are solid, and I appreciate that the white sauce is not gloppy or sweet like some other competitors' and that the red sauce is appropriately piquant. They also offer a mild but flavorful green sauce which adds some fresh notes. Those sauces are needed as the chicken, lamb, and rice are unremarkable. The chicken possessed a decent flavor from a spiced marinade, though the pieces ran a little dry. The lamb cubes tasted like generic gyro and carried little flavor besides salt. The rice itself lacked the fluffy yet al dente texture seen at the best halal places. The proteins did not taste fresh and were served from a steam table rather than off the griddle. Still, the overall eating experience felt reasonably enjoyable due to the flavor of the sauces carrying the weight of the platter. The guy who took and assembled my order was very nice, though forgot to include pita bread in my order. I paid about $13 for the meal, and the portion was generous. As such, Shah's is a competent but unremarkable halal platter spot. I would not go out of my way to eat here, but if it's the closest place to you for this type of food it's a fine option.

Ordering is quick and easy through the iPad, and I went with the Beef Perfect Bowl over rice. The portion alone impressed me. It came piled high with grilled beef, fresh greens, rice, and even an egg roll, making it feel like a complete meal rather than just a rice bowl. The beef was flavorful, the vegetables added a nice freshness, and while I'm trying to cut back on carbs, I have to admit the sticky rice soaked up all the savory sauce and was hard to stop eating. The only thing I would do differently next time is ask for jalapeños or another spicy topping. I like my food with a little more heat, and I think that extra kick would have taken the bowl to the next level. There are a handful of tables if you want to eat there, but I grabbed mine to go. Hidden gem is an overused phrase, but in this case it actually fits. Generous portions, solid flavors, and reasonable prices for this day and age.

I'm a local customer and live just a minute away, so I've visited more than once. I came in for lunch today with my wife and our 1.5-year-old son. When I placed my order, I asked for extra white sauce, and I asked again when the food came out. Both times, the request was ignored. I also mentioned that we hadn't received our drinks, but instead of addressing it, the server again yelled for us to get the drinks ourselves from the cooler. The food itself was okay, but the bread was very poor--hard and barely edible. I even called the restaurant later in the evening to share my concerns, but was told the server was off at that time.
