Three months ago I bought my first Harley Davidson, a 2003 100th Anniversary Sportster 1200C with a bunch of gorgeous custom work done to it. I've also learned that while seemingly reliable (original battery still starts every time!) they do require and deserve a bit of love as you go on. Kanes has been a reliable store for me to get the bolts I need when the ones on my bike rattle off... I guess that's just the price you pay for that sexy V-Twin torque and sound. I like to support Kane's Harley-Davidson whenever I can, not just because I have to to keep my bike on the road, but because they've been in Calgary for such a long time and have managed to grow and still stay in Inglewood. They're an important part of the community. You'll see all kinds of Harley enthusiasts at this store, from guys who have spent their whole life on the highway to the corporate suits with money to burn on a sexy new ride. They've got a great selection of clothing and motorcycle apparel that is both functional or just goes with your Harley lifestyle. We're not talking classic "biker" clothes with skulls and flames, although there are plenty if you want want them, but being a Harley fan in my late 20's I found more than enough leather jackets to put on the ol' christmas wish list. read more

I order new Avon tires on a Saturday and was shocked at the price $682 for front and rear tire then quoted two hours for installation. I went online to see the cost if I ordered tires direct myself from Ontario and with free delivery in 4 days the tires were$282 cheaper. I told them to explain this price mark up to me in a very polite email and that I would like a refund for the outrageous mark up in price. The told me there would be a 35% restocking fee if I were to get refund but they would give me 15% off but no deal on labour. I was told the reason why they were so pricy is that the low Canadian dollar drove up the price and that the spot I had ordered them from must have had them in stock from when the dollar was higher. The tires arrived on Thursday and I had all ready booked appointment for installation at 9am Friday so that I could go riding with buddies over the weekend. I returned Friday night after work by cab from office and my bike hadn't been touched yet so they told me they left a note and first thing Saturday morning they would get to it. After lunch in Saturday still no word. I called and the person in service said he did not know and he would have the other fella call me back right away. 2 1/2 hours go by and no call. So I call back and they still haven't touched bike so not until Monday now due to the fact only 1 out of 3 guys showed up to work and he wished he could fire the other two but can't find people to replace them. Not my problem. So finally on Monday I get a call at lunch saying bike is done. I went to pick it up and they wanted to charge me full price and not honour the in store credit of $130 I got back from 15% discount on tires and charged me $262 for installation. I quickly corrected them and got the $130 taken off. I was treated extremely rudely from service manager and was ripped off. Over $900 for tires and installation is ridiculous given the fact the tires at a substantial Mark up from wholesaler equal just under $400 Not to mention my bike is filthy now being parked in that sorry excuse for customer bikes garage exposed to all the dust and dead leaves blown in from outside. A scrape on my side panel. Horn and cruise control no longer work. Good job Kanes. I will be contacting your top guys as I have a lot of questions for them. I have owned 6 Harley's now and still have 2 and a hardtail. Kanes will never touch my bikes again. Poor service bad attitude with customers when they get caught ripping people off. Go to Gasoline Alley in Red Deer. Best all round Harley dealer I've ever dealt with anywhere in the country. I have zero respect for Kanes. Worst experience ever. Now I have to take it somewhere else to get electrical fixed. Never again will I spend a dime in that dump. May have been good back in the day but those days are long gone. Just happened upon this place as we were driving by.We wanted to see the vintage bikes(antique fanatics )and new bikes.As we stepped in we were greeted warmly by a fella (didnt catch his name)of which he was able to tell us some of the history on the old bikes.We also checked out the cool clothes..Just a short time there-we definitely want to go back.AWESOME place-even ya dont ride...It seemed to get ya to wanna a Harley...LOL. read more

The place is very well done, clean and excellent service from parts. That said this was my experience when I had my bike serviced last fall. I was there on time for my appointment and they got started fairly quickly. I asked about the price of some things in the parts department and they were very helpful. They finished the service and a guy took my bike for a test run. When he returned I got the shock of a livetime. The service came to nearly $500, I should have checked to see what hey gold plated. I paid and head for home to Airdrie. I turned North on the Deerfoot and discover I have no signal lights. My satellite receiver isn't working either and my cruise is out too. I called them from and they came and picked the bike up with a trailer. They were very prompt and returned the bike that afternoon (another $60) they found the problem. It was related to the plugin for the satellite. When the guy dropped it of we discussed how to remedy the problem, good thing I didn't follow his advice. He told me to wire it backwards and I would have blown the unit. The guy that rode it back burned the clutch so bad when we left the next day the bike just barely pulled us up the first hill west of town. We had to return to the house where I adjusted the clutch. The experience was good and bad, more bad than good. They stuck it to me for the service, damaged my bike and lost a customer forever. I would recommend going to Calgary Harley for work on your bikes. I had some work done there and they were fair on their pricing and did a great job for me. read more

Lousy service hardly describes this place. Avoid Kanes at all cost. One week to install new saddle bags and they give them to me ripped. Wow! read more
