I don't need to say much. I'm from philly and the guy who owns the truck is from philly too and he truly brought home with him in that truck. As soon as I bit into my cheesesteak I felt right at home. He even had the type of Chinese from home that I adore but I didn't want to be to greedy lol. Either way this is the only true place on the island to get a cheesesteak and trust me I've checked every place that has them in the menu cause I was that desperate. To get to this man I had to cross the whole island so as you can see I was serious lol. GO TO HIM IF YOU WANT A REAL CHEESESTEAK I MEAN IT Had my friend take me here again cause again I missed home so he had to walk up and order for me. Mostly I just wanted my daughter to try the closest thing to my home food as she's gonna get for now so I got some Chinese and another cheesesteak. Again HOME FEELING ON POINT

Tasty food. Ordered Beef chow fun, Philly Cheese Steak, Spring Rolls. Chow fun is a big portion. Flavorful. Cheese steak could benefit from being more moist, but still good. Prices are surprisingly cheap, like pre pandemic.

    REAL PHILLY CHEESESTEAK IN HAWAII

I was very surprised to see Cambodian food in Hawaii. While waiting in line for Giovanni's, I spotted this truck across the way. I walked over and was surprised to see a lovely Cambodian couple from Philly. We chatted for over thirty minutes about how they got there and I ordered some nice home cooked Cambodian/Chinese food to take back to my hotel. The cambodian food was spot on (the curry and beef sticks). I actually came back the next day because I was craving a philly cheesesteak. Not going to lie...this tasted SUPER authentic to what I had back in Philly (without the cheez whiz). I went back A THIRD time for a philly cheesesteak before leaving. Would recommend coming here for sure.

There are so many options at this food truck...and sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it's not...but for my first time here the food was perfect. I waited about ten mins to order (no one in line ahead of me, but he was completing other orders), then about another ten for him to prepare my food. Guys-this place is worth the wait. The food tastes so fresh. I got the green curry chicken, and it's the best curry chicken I've had in years. My husband got food from another food truck and he wanted my dish! This place is worth the wait. I can't wait to try other items from their menu!

Lots of good south east Asian food on this menu, but I came here for one item and I found a lot more. I came for a Philadelphia cheesesteak. I moved to North Shore Hawaii from Southeast Pennsylvania about two years ago and this is one thing that I missed. A neighbor told me about this place and I searched it out and I was not disappointed. Jay, the owner lived in Philadelphia for over 25 years and he serves up the real deal. (it's also quirky that you can get Funnel Cake at the stand next-door food truck). There's lots of fresh shrimp dishes on the menu and green Curry chicken. All good.

    Beef sticks with fried rice

We came to this area of North Shore to try the shrimp truck and I happened upon Kampuchea Kitchen as I was checking out all the vendor options. I absolutely did not expect to find Cambodian food on my week-long trip to Oahu but was happily surprised!! I ordered the beef sticks with fried rice and the beef tasted just like the one my Cambodian mom makes at home! I chatted with the owners and had not read or seen anything about them before and so it was a pleasant surprise to find out the couple was from Philadelphia, which is where I grew up. Anyways, the beef sticks are marinaded well and taste delicious! I truly preferred it over the super buttery shrimp from the super popular shrimp truck nearby.

    Menu - notice the title.

This place is to the left of Giovanni's. It's an orange and white food truck next to Aloha Espresso. They don't have a sign but their menu says "Jay & Touch's Happy Burger". We had the Mushroom Cheesesteak, Fish Sandwich and Combo#3; Orange Chicken, Steak Peppers and rice. Everything was made to order and super delicious! We wanted to try something different from the numerous offerings of garlic shrimp and this place didn't disappoint. Take cash as it is the only form of payment.

Green curry that's authentic and not loaded with sugar. Everyone in line ordered Philly cheesesteak. Gonna have to try that next.

This year, we were determined to make it early enough to finally try the Bald Guy, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was honestly divine. We tried the pan-fried poke, kalbi beef, furikake crusted salmon, chopped steak, and spam musubi, and every single thing was incredible. It was so good that we ended up eating here twice during our trip. Also, special shoutout to the mac and cheese because WOW... it is ridiculously good. My personal favorites were the poke, chopped steak, and kalbi beef, but truly everything we ordered was amazing. The staff was also super kind and helpful with all our questions. Just a heads up, they do sell out of certain items before closing, so definitely try to get there earlier rather than later. Cannot wait to come back!

This time I wanted to try the garlic shrimp bc I've only heard good things. My niece and her boyfriend were visiting and I wanted them to experience this food truck. They ordered a combo plate with the garlic shrimp and steak. The food was delicious. They actually rated it the best meal that had while they were on the island. That should tell ya something. The shrimp were big and cooked perfectly. Seasoned to perfection. Just the right amount of garlic and the extra sauce made for the best rice. I was happy with the quantity of shrimp too. Definitely a worth it meal in my book. I also got a teriyaki spam musubi to try. Also good. I like how they wrapped it. Just a slight variation from the ones I typically eat. Will definitely be back. I still want to try the salmon. We got in line just at the right time bc when we turned to sit down after ordering there was a long line that had formed behind us. Our food got done quickly and we sat down at the picnic tables to enjoy it. It was busy so we shared a picnic table with another family. Hopefully you don't mind doing that bc space is often limited.

We drove up to get there just before noon on a Saturday. It was rainy, so the numbers were a bit light in the area, but there were still thirteen people in line when the truck opened for business. The owner was fun, friendly, and engaging the customers in conversations while prepping the food. There are times when I think some food truck owners take on the role of a short order cook and get annoyed that you don't understand "how" you're supposed to order; that was certainly NOT the case here. You just need to decide if you want a hot or regular sandwich and whether you want bleu cheese or special sauce. We got one hot and one regular, but the chicken is HUGE and two adults can easily share one sandwich. I'm torn, because while we would probably order just one sandwich next time, I also want to support the business and get two. The chicken was as good as everyone told us and had incredible crispy batter. The fries though...those were maybe the best I've ever had. I don't normally love the double cooked style fry, but could live off those and never get tired of them. FYI...we took ours to eat at the Beer Garden about 100 yards to the west and that's a winning combo.

Definitely worth stopping in at Seven Brothers Restaurant and or the bakery as well. Back to Mikes, You'll walk up and spot signage plus the yellow signature bus shack. I'd seen Mikes Huli Chicken on an episode of Diners Drive Ins and Dives and Guy said "the skin is as crispy as it gets next to being fried." That never left my memory. This being my next visit since seeing that episode, I had to try it. What did I order? - Mikes Huli Chicken Plate $17: 4/5 Stars - Chicken is a nice half chicken portion, perfectly juicy, nicely slight char taste. Crispy skin? Unfortunately no. - The Mac salad is nice. - Generous serving of rice *** Mikes Huli sauce is delicious! Be sure to find the self serve bottle and the to go sauce cups and get you some extra. You'll walk up and place your order at the window, pay, cash or card, then find yourself a seat. The cashier was simple and quick to the point. No small talk. I got the #9 plate, which is kalua pork, huli chicken, and I got mac salad. The kalua pork meat itself was fine. Not gristly and not too fatty. However, barely any smoke taste to it and was fairly bland. The huli chicken didn't have crispy skin. It seemed lukewarm like it had been cooked a while earlier and was just sitting. The sauce is amazing and I do think it's delicious with the sauce. Rice was just rice. Meh. Even adding shoyu didn't add much flavor to it, to be honest. The mac salad is extremely bland. I don't know if they need to add some acid to the mayonnaise or more salt, but it was pasty and no flavor. I would honestly skip getting the mac salad next time and get regular salad! That's how bad this mac salad was. Two slices of pineapple on the plate were fresh and flavorful. I did enjoy these. Service was okay. I had asked if they still honored kama'aina discount and was told no. That's fine; I understand not all places offer discounts. I don't know when kama'aina discount stopped being offered, but back in the day I used to receive it when asking. I did notice though that two guys who ordered before me got a "mahalo, braddah" in a friendly tone but I got a terse "thanks." Guess haole girls don't get mahalos even if local. It's just uncomfortable when certain people get friendly, effusive mahalos and others get terse thanks, like I didn't want to be serving you food today. Maybe cause it was Mother's Day and they didn't want to be there? Sure didn't feel like 'ohana today. So many flies around, it made eating uncomfortable. A few fly fans on tables but not at the one where I was seated, so it was basically like constantly shooing away flies and trying to take a bite of food super fast before they came back on my food. Probably I should have taken my food away and gone to the beer garden nearby with fewer flies. Meh. I used to really like Mike's but I will stick to Da Bald Guy and Seven Brothers when I visit the sugar mill in the future.
