The staff was wonderful here! My site was shaded and level. The place was very well kept and clean. I loved the donkeys and the duck pond! Pet friendly and the other campers were very nice too. I would definitely go back when I was out that way! read more

We called late in the day and were able to get nice flat, pull through site. The park has a nice pool and excellent dog park. Unfortunately, while we were there, serious thunderstorms did not allow us to use either. The park is more functional than pretty but it met our needs for late arrival and one additional night stay. read more

We stayed here for a week while getting our son settled into college. It's about 20 minutes from Rocky Mount and NCWU. When we first arrived we were greeted by the owner on a golf cart and he took us straight to our site. Having stayed at a lot of grounds this review is just our opinion on our stay and hope it helps out fellow campers passing through. Pros: the salt water pool is clean and well kept. There is no shade at the pool area so keep that in mind during the hot summers. The bathrooms/showers are single use, very clean. Wear shower shoes bc the drainage mats hurt tender feet. There are concrete pads on most of the sites. There's already a hose heater installed on the water meters just make sure you have a heated hose as well for winter camping. Free Wi-Fi that is very strong signal. Check in and check out is simple. Majority of the sites are pull through. The fire rings are made of stone. Nice picnic tables on all sites. Our site was very level and didn't need much level assist. Propane refill tanks on site. Cons: Our MAIN complaint was that there are limited sites available for campers due to so many people that live there long term. Toward the back of the campground are some VERY run down campers and it's kinda gross back there. The entrance can be easy to miss and needs better signage. Most of the short term sites are not shaded at all so make sure you've got canopies. If you use a credit/debit card to pay they will charge you a fee. Use cash if you can. Overall, the staff there were very nice and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again bc the pros outweigh the cons, it's very convenient and close to our sons college, and their kindness and welcoming nature is the best seller. read more

So the place didn't look like much when we arrived. Don't get me wrong, there wasn't anything broken or run down, just simple. And here, simple is good. The place was clean and well kept. They have a store with some nice basic items. They refill propane. I noticed how many people came in from outside to do that. This place shines on 2 fronts. First, the salt-water pool. Amazing! I've never been in one before but am now spoiled on them. The 2nd front is the friendliness of the owners and staff. We didn't have a single bad thing to say about any of them. The longer term residents were also very friendly. The only possible negative would be that there aren't really any shaded lots, but even there, outside of the heat of the summer, it would be gorgeous. We would definitely stay again and recommend others to do the same. read more

What a nice campground! Stayed one night, with two other RVers, on our way to VA. Roomy spaces, nice fire rings, and new clean picnic tables. Owners were very friendly & helpful. Put all three of of our RV's close together. Had a lovely stay, and look forward to coming back. read more

Stayed here one night, although the campground is on the older side, the sites are large and the staff is friendly. Our only complaint was the music that went on until 4 am and the repeated gunfire from the Mexican restaurant across the street. We called the police as did our neighbors. The gunfire stopped but not the music. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep. Won't stay there again read more

Sharon, Thank you for making our "Maiden Voyage" in our pop-up camper a success! From greeting us so kindly, driving me in your golf cart to our site, free firewood our first night, having your guys come and check the electricity on our shelter, allowing us a grace period at check out time to enjoy our first camping experience, and directing us to an awesome day of fishing on the river (20 fish which we caught and released!) We visited Wilson to see our son play against Barton College from out of town Dawn Hartman P.S. We stayed for a week at Kamper's Lodge. When we arrived, there was a lot of mud and our spot had very little gravel to help with that. But, the owners were amazing. They immediately went to get fresh gravel for the spot and also brought an outdoor rug for us to place under our steps. They also delivered fresh firewood and newspaper to our fire pit while we were out one day. There is free wifi, but use is limited, so be prepared. It was too early in the season to use the pool. And there seemed to be a lot of long term guests, so we were not able to get our preferred spot, or extend our stay due to space. So reserve early! We do plan to come again!! read more

Nice stop on way to Virginia this spring. Very friendly and helpful. Stayed in newly approved sight with stone fire ring and concrete pad. Has a number of full time trailers but ok. Just rebuilding pool. Stayed 2 nights read more
