    I have mixed feelings about Kamehachi and hadn't been here in a few years. Love: - the 2 menu pages worth of sushi options! - that lychee martini!! Like: - coloring sheets and crayons for kids - extensive menu with hot and cold appetizers, entrees across noodle and rice dishes, salads, and lunch specials - date night vibes Dislike: - the rice ratio was a little high in the sushi, making it drier than anticipated. Also, I realized after the fact that no sauce was drizzled over either of my 2 rolls, and the spider (soft shell crab) one drastically needed it. Soy sauce just made it too salty. - service was a bit slow

    We were seated quickly. Not a lot people there. They have two entrances. One on the street side and another at the parking lot side. The menu was large. They have a lunch special until three pm on week days. They had an additional paper menu with additional items today. We had the nabe udon soup. It had a smokey traditional taste of fermented fish or sardine. The udon noodles were a good texture and thick. There was a slightly raw egg and some napa diced cabbage. There was some other green that reminded me of spinach with no flavor but was soft like spinach. It didn't have a spinach flavor or residue. There was only one slice of fish cake. Thought there would be at least a few slices. The spicy tuna deluxe has six slices. It was not very spicy. The tuna was not ground up. Instead, it was whole tuna pieces. I could taste the avocado and cucumber. Some of the slices were cut rather large. The green wasabi and ginger came on the same plate as the roll. Service was a bit slow. We didn't get any water refills. It was near closing time. Pretty quiet. No music. Not many other patrons. They must go for the lunch specials. It is near an office building.

    I've been coming to kamehachi ever since I was a kid and now I had the pleasure of dining here with my children! My favorite dish is the dynamite! My mouth is on fire and I keep digging in for more. The kids love the bento box! Perfect mix of protein, sushi, rice, and tempura! It's a great location for family dinner or take out!

    We brought a couple who were celebrating a special anniversary and they had a very lovely time at Kamehachi. From the moment we were seated, through our service, to a surprise dessert in honor of the couple, I felt like they were treated royally. Food was brought out promptly, and the dishes that were hot, were served hot -- looking at you molten lava hot chicken wings. Our special couple raved about the supremely fresh sushi and the presentation. I enjoyed my Chilean Sea Bass with miso sauce. It's like that quote by Maya Angelou -- "...people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Kamehachi -- you made our couple feel very special -- thank you!

    Before the pandemic, we came to Kamehachi every Saturday evening for more than 15 years.   With the Covid, it has been a long hiatus.  The last time we were here was a year ago when we had a big family gathering and they partitioned a private room for us, which now becomes the Omakase room.  This time, we had a small group dinner with family members.  It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was packed.  I ordered the Unagi Don, which is the barbecued fresh water eel with sushi rice.  At many Japanese restaurants, the cooked eel usually is prepared with Teriyaki sauce, which is too sweet for me.  But the barbecue sauce they have is just right, and I like it.  My wife ordered the Bento Box with Chilean sea bass, which is not on their menu.   On their menu, they only have Bento Box with chicken, beef, or salmon.  And the menu prominently states that "No substitutions, please".  However, if you ask, they do give you substitution.  My wife substituted her Bento box salmon with Chilean sea bass for $7, and I substituted my miso soup with a salad for $2.  In the past, we even had special order of grilled shrimp Bento Box. In addition to the Japanese beer Sapporo, our group also had a bottle of the Yoshi No Gawa sake ("the winter warrior").  The sake has some light floral flavor and is quite complementary to the sushi and seafood dishes. While the food is good, I must say that they have raised the menu price quite significantly, and at the new price range, they will face very strong competition.   Finally, a big shout out to our server Usa.  We have known Usa for a long, long time.  She is always cheerful, friendly, and nice, and has been treating us like her own family.  That night, my wife had packed some California rolls from the Bento Box to go.  However, when we got home, my wife realized that she had left them on the dinner table and didn't bring them home.   When we called, they said that the busboy had already cleared the table.  But Usa said that "no worry, we'll make some new ones for you" (although the restaurant was near closing for the night).  Since we are less than 10 minutes away, I went back to the restaurant and the new California rolls were already there for me to pick up.  This is real customer service!

    Went here for a late lunch. The place is nice and spacious and our server was really friendly. We ordered the pork belly steamed buns and the bacon crab Rangoon. The buns were decent and the Rangoons were really delicious. For our mains, we ordered the Northbrook Roll and the Katsudon. Everything was just ok to us. Nothing to rave about.

    When you walk in, the space is decorated nicely and it feels well spaced out. The staff was very nice. They were pretty attentive and came by just enough while I wasn't in the middle of eating, which I appreciated. I ordered the spicy chicken ramen. It was not for me. I expected it to be like other ramen that I've had, but this was not what I expected. There was something about it that was overpowering any other flavors. I also thought I would get a soft boiled ramen egg, but instead I receive half of a hard boiled egg. I might come back to give the sushi a try, but the ramen is not something I'd be dying to come back for.

    Visiting my boyfriend who lives near here, I told him I wanted to go for sushi. Since I wasn't familiar with the area, we went where he usually orders takeout from. Since it was a Sunday afternoon, we got in right after they opened (around 4:00 PM). I loved the environment and the tables were so cute. They had those glass tops where you can see different items placed underneath it (I provided a picture in case it's unclear what I'm talking about) Staff was attentive and got us seated right away. Our server was lovely, I feel terrible that I didn't ask for his name a second time and I can't remember it. He was a young man who was so friendly and accommodating. I grew up eating Philadelphia rolls but they didn't technically have one on the menu (which I understand since some do not consider that authentic sushi) but they had a similar one called the New York roll. It just didn't have avocado. I asked for some on the side because the menu said no substitutions. I was hesitant to ask but he said he would ask if they could just add it right in. I was so happy since the roll came out exactly as I like it and it was fresh and delish. We ordered vegetable gyoza as an appetizer and my boyfriend ordered two different veggie sushi rolls. The tempura one was especially tasty. I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to return!

    Dine-in by reservation only. They took our temperature on our wrists when we sat down. We ordered a large kamehachi salad, hiyashi wakame, sweet potato roll, lobster maki, futo, California, dragon, special salmon, mushroom tobanyaki and veggie tempura. The mushrooms were so yummy. The veggie tempura here batter was so light and crispy and perfectly crunchy, quite tasty. The tempura sweet potato is not my favorite, it's cold, would be better warm. Not a big fan of the futomaki either. The lobster and California roll were so good. The dragon and special salmon rolls were so-so.

    When patrons write a review, it is usually just a snapshot of what the restaurant is like on the day they visit. However, we have been to Kamehachi literally hundreds of times in a span of at least 15 years, until the pandemic hit. So, writing a review of Kamehachi is very different, because it is like a report of so many reviews at the same time! Why did we go there so many times? It started out when I escorted my Mom (who were not living with us) to shop every weekend, and then my hubby and I treated her to dinner at Kamehachi. My Mom who's hard to please likes their food, especially their rolls, she knew exactly what to order, and felt relaxed and comfortable with several friendly servers who called her Grandma. They also comp her with ice cream each time! We knew the menu so well that we didn't need one! Hubby's favorite was Chirashi, while Mom liked the Bento Box with Shrimp (substitution created by Mom). Interestingly, I don't like to eat raw food except when I was in Japan, but finding tasty cooked dishes at Kamehachi is not hard. I love to try different things, I created the Bento Box with Chilean Sea Bass (with an extra fee, now being $7 more), Dragon Rolls, Wonderful Rolls, Nabeyaki Udon, Tonkotsu Ramen, just to name a few. I also loved to try their seasonal rolls, those with mango were refreshing and almost too beautiful to eat. We ate at Kamehachi almost every weekend since at least 2005 until March of 2020, and had hosted many birthday parties there. It's a family-friendly restaurant. Then came the pandemic and the restaurant was closed for 18 months! I thought of our 2 most favorite waitresses Titina and Usa a lot, wondering how they were doing during the close-down time of restaurants! Then last week we finally decided that it's safe for our big extended family to have a gathering again, and Hubby and I picked Kamehachi! I was so glad that it survived the pandemic so far, and they have installed a new air filtration system. However, after 2 1/2 years, the only familiar faces were the manager Jae and our favorite waitress Usa, Titina had moved to another state during the time when the restaurant was closed and depended only on takeout orders. I worked with Jae to arrange for the party of 16 family members. Jae told me that they were down to 2 servers (I don't know if that was due to a weekday of just overall shortness of staff like almost every other restaurant), he therefore requested me to give them a list of what our party would order ahead of time, which I didn't mind. As a matter of fact, it helped streamlined things a lot! We ordered half pan Gyoza, half pan Chicken Yakitori, and 4 orders of Mushroom Tobanyaki for appetizers. For entrees there were numerous Bento Boxes (with salmon, beef, chicken teriyaki, shrimp, or Chilean Sea Bass), Sashimi Deluxe, Chirashi, Chilean Sea Bass Entrée, Chicken Teriyaki, Asian Chimichurri Skirt Steak, Nabeyaki Udon, Nagasaki Udon, and some of their rolls. We also ordered a bottle of chardonnay and a couple bottles of hot sake for those who drank. I want to mention that I appreciate Kamehachi's consistency, for so many years and including this party, there was never a bad meal! It was a relief that all the food was tasty and the ingredients fresh, just like before! And Usa and her assistants served our entire party seamlessly! They kept the cold water and hot green tea filled throughout the night! At the end, Usa brought out the big cake that I bought from Lana's. In order to save their time and efforts, I brought paper plates and plastic forks with us. It was such a pleasure to catch up a little with Usa when she had a brief moment before the party began too! For a group of 24 people or less, I believe it would fit nicely in their private room. Jae had arranged 8 small tables to form a large rectangular table that seated all 16 of us perfectly and comfortably in their private room. We really enjoyed the privacy and were happy to dine with each other again, so we might have forgotten that 3 of the walls were just thin panels, we all had a great time and were loud! When I was planning the party, Jae told me that he was leaving in 2 weeks! So, I am glad that we had the party before he left! We had been through at least 5 managers at Kamehachi over the years, namely Colin, Chris, Danny, Jae, (forgot a couple of the names) all of them were friendly and respectful. I remember Colin the best, he's very generous and accommodating, and was the first manager to recognize that we were loyal customers there. He invited us to attend a complimentary tasting of their new menu items back then, that was very memorable! He very often gifted us with a nice bottle of wine when we hosted a party! I have yet to meet their next manager, Tom, in person, but am hopeful that he would be a good manager too! Even though my Mom no longer goes out to shop, and seldom goes out to eat at all, Kamehachi remains one of our favorite restaurants, we will be back more often!

He was so attentive, welcoming, and wonderful with the kids, it really made the whole experience feel special. I was turned on to the place by a good friend who took me there as a treat, thinking I would like it. She was very right. It was my first experience with teppanyaki, and I was hooked. Over the next 32 years I've had many more of these meals at other nice Japanese places closer to home. So now, for this visit, I suddenly went from getting a $10 burger, to dropping $200 at a restaurant (I went all-in, treating myself on this one). The place still looked the same, which in my case, I loved. I enjoyed a Super Mai Tai at the elegant bar before my table was ready (a very short wait). Lupe, a long serving, very experienced chef was my company for the evening, and he was wonderful. The lobster appetizer was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and presented. My filet was a fine piece of meat and it was the exact medium rare I requested. Soup, salad, vegetables, fried rice, shrimp - all fantastic. The waitress was also great, refilling my water, and bringing me a second Super Mai Tai. I topped it all off with a scoop of green tea ice cream. It was an extravagant meal and I was quite full, but it was a Christmas splurge, and it was worth it. Now, I'm planning on not waiting another 32 years to return here. I'll save up some money and come back here with my two grandsons, two daughters, son, and ex-wife. My little guys have been with me a few times at similar places and quite enjoyed it. As far as for me, it was well worth it, and I recommend it all - the people , the food, and the atmosphere, but load up your wallet.

We made a reservation for 2 on the same day on a Wednesday, a couple of popular time slots had been filled. When we went at 6:00 pm, the restaurant was bustling. We were promptly led to a 2-person table in the open dining room. My seat had the nice view of the sushi-making station, which was super busy. There was an area with all high-back booths, which seated 4 each. Our area was quite loud, fortunately, my husband and I could still hear each other. Our server, Kassie, was very pleasant, sweet, knowledgeable, and attentive. She truly contributed a lot to a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. For appetizer, I was going to order Crab Cakes, but changed my mind after learning that even with the wasabi sauce put on the side, the crab cakes would still be spicy hot. I ordered an order of Takoyai ($9)(six pieces) instead and shared that with my husband. It came out piping hot and was cooked just right, with a light and crispy skin and perfect texture. Just delicious! My husband ordered a Chilean Seabass entrée ($36) which had a generous portion. I was interested in getting some sushi rolls. You can pick long or short. Kassie answered my question that long was about 8 to 10 pieces, while short being 5 to 6 pieces. I ordered one long and one short to get some more variety, understanding that it would be too much food for the two of us. I ordered the long Green Turtle ($18) -- one of my all-time favorites, and a short Smoky Bear ($14). Everything was delicious, even though my husband said that the seabass was slightly overcooked. The ratio of sushi rice to the other ingredients was perfect, and all of that were fresh, tasty and balanced well. I have recommended BluFish to my other family members and relatives. We will definitely be coming back. I would be happy to try more different sushi rolls from their extensive menu.

One can sit at a table or the main sushi counter. The night I visited, it was rather slow which allowed staff to thoroughly wait on us. I asked a couple of questions about the menu. Our server explained that the most popular rolls were the Garlic Salmon, Mafia, and Hamachi Truffle. Most premium maki come as 8 rolls with the exception of Pink Flower and Tequila which are served as 6. All rolls are made to order with fresh ingredients. I also loved that they offered three options for veggie rolls as it's still my preference! To start, we ordered both the Lychee-tini and Old Fashioned cocktails. They couldn't have been more different in flavor profiles. The Old Fashioned was spirit forward yet smooth. It had a really nice finishing note that directly came from the Japanese Whiskey used. The Lychee-tini was sweeter and had good flavor. I also loved that there was actually a lychee at the bottom of the glass. For mains, my husband got the Mafia and Hamachi Truffle rolls per the staff's recommendation. He explained that the Mafia rolls were more of a mild heat. He preferred the Hamachi Truffle roll as it had a more unique and depth of flavor. I got the Black Garden roll without the jalapeño. I loved the freshness of the rolls and thoroughly enjoyed the veggies mixed with the sauce it had. We both agreed that all rolls tasted like they were made with premium, high quality ingredients. Once we finished, the chef came out to ask how we liked everything. Kaido's service level was amazing with staff clearing plates, refilling water, checking in on how we were doing, and just making sure we had the best dining experience. The details didn't go unnoticed and makes perfect sense why they have such an amazing Yelp score! Highly recommend visiting Kaido Sushi and looking forward to my next visit!

This is now my updated review as a purposefully came back for a dinner on a Friday night. You should try to make a reservation because on this particular Friday night they actually were full. And you can do it online through their website. The dinner menu is significantly different from the lunch menu. It is much more expensive with a lot more choices, especially as it pertains to the sushi and the cold as well as hot appetizers. You also have the option during dinner to order a sushi tray whether it is a Nigiri sashimi or maki tray. And if you sit there and do the math if you order the trays, they're a lot cheaper, but you have to like what the options are on the tray. You can tell by the pictures we ordered quite a bit of food as usual for dinner. Everything was so super fresh and delicious as usual. Everything came out with really good timing as well. We had a completely different waitress and a team of of servers this evening and all of them were absolutely friendly and helpful and attentive. This is got to be my new go to for authentic Japanese. You can also tell because while we were there the patrons coming in were Japanese in majority. I cannot say enough about this place being amazing with incredible quality fish, and a great menu.

The yakitori had issues, most of our skewers tasted reheated or cold, which was then reheated anyways. I think they have staffing issues as well. Ordered a lemon sour and it was flat due to having flat soda water. They kindly replaced it with a slightly less flat soda water. Strong recommendation for the otoro and sashimi cuts. Maybe double check if yakitori is hot before ordering more.

I really like that you have a lot to choose from, and the included amount was decent. Like, you can pick up to five different toppings like edamame, pineapple, etc, up to three different proteins, toppings like tempura flakes, and different types of rice, including purple rice, which was great. I went with black rice, pineapple, masago, green onions, edamame, salmon, tuna, tofu, and some spicy sriracha. It was delicious. My son loved his poke bowl, but he did say he wished there was more rice. Overall, food was great, service was good, and the overall dining experience is worth a revisit. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the back, there is a men's and women's bathroom. In the men's, there is a urinal and a toilet. I always wondered whether to lock the door behind me in these situations. Well, I couldn't anyways, as the lock was broken. So I peed as quick as possible, to avoid being walked-in on. I normally don't enjoy takeout sushi as it's one of the foods I find tastes best eaten where it's made. That said, I thought I'd give it a go and put in my order when I arrived to ensure everything was fresh. For food we ordered the gyoza, crispy spicy tuna, spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and shrimp tempura roll. All were good but my g favorites were crispy spicy tuna and spicy tuna roll. The rolls are also very large fyi! Would definitely go back as I'm curious to try their poke.
