After many years with the same hairstylist, due to her schedule changes, I recently made the…read moredecision to search for a new one. Driving to Franklin for my appointments was making for some mighty long days, and Saturdays are coveted and sometimes unpredictable. So I knew I wanted to find someone in the Boro if nothing else. I learned about Studio L through a friend of mine...but we weren't friends yet. In fact, it was the first time I had ever met her and instead of saying the usual "Hi." or "Nice to meet you..." I just excitedly exclaimed, "Oh. My. GOSH! I love your hair!", then asked, "Where do you go?" Who knew almost a year later I'd need a new stylist? Bam. When I called Leanne (owner of Studio L), we discussed all the details about my "move", my hair, and set up an appointment for the following month. I learned that while it's not posted, she does have rather flexible hours. So when I said I'd prefer weeknight evening appointments over Saturdays, she said she is happy to work with me on scheduling. The studio is in a beautiful space just off of the Sqaure. There are two street parking spots directly in front of the salon with more street parking nearby. I maintain my hair color through root touch-ups about every 4-5 weeks. Since Salon L is a Paul Mitchell salon, and previous color applications were from Davines, I wasn't sure how it'd go with color matching. I'm happy to report it appears to be flawless thus far. Leanne finished my first appointment by styling my hair with a curling wand manufactured by Paul Mitchell. It gave my strands a nice beach wave. She even took the time to give me some instruction on how to use any wand to create the look, then allowed me to try it myself with her there to instruct/assist as needed. It was very helpful and much appreciated. (I'm a tomboy at heart, so I'm a little late to the hair and makeup party in a woman's life.) I feel as though the service and the pricing I received today were fair, and I look forward to going back for my next appointment.

I came to Jules for the first time after seeing a special they were running on their website. I was to get a haircut, style, and partial highlights for $65! Reese was my stylist and she was super sweet and did a great job on my hair. Despite confirming with them on Facebook messenger that I would be getting the partial highlight with the free haircut and style, I was charged $95 at checkout. Their website indicates that it is a flat rate of $65 for this special. This was my first time ever getting highlights, and I was not informed of the $30 in additional charges until after it was all done. They were closing so I paid the charges and left. The next day, my husband called and politely explained the situation, and asked if the extra $30 could be refunded. We explained that the highlights were good, just that Jules has misleading prices listed on their website. It should have said prices starting at $65 - not appear to be a flat rate. At the least, any additional foils or products should have been communicated to me before putting them in my hair so that I could decide whether to get them. Instead, I did not get that choice. We spoke on the phone with Julie, the owner and master Stylist, and she begrudgingly agreed to give us a refund. When my husband dropped by the store on his way home from work to get the refund, Julie was rude and raised her voice during their interaction. She said that we made it to be where Reese only got $15 for working for three hours on my hair, and that they do not want our business anymore. I gave Reese a generous tip for her work. It is not up to me how much the stylists get paid. I should expect to be charged what was advertised on their website and confirmed to me in writing. If Jules wants to post specials on their website to get people in the door, they need to be up front about what they will charge people. All in all, I would not recommend going to Jules. I have never met a business owner that was so rude and unprofessional. As a business owner, I am shocked at how she handled the situation by raising her voice and the rude things she said. With this experience and the fact that their prices are misleading, I would not recommend Jules. There are many other great hair salons in town.
