I just moved back to the Chicago area from Texas. I've been gone for 20 years and always saw the original shop on Kedzie Ave. I recently drove down Ridgeland and saw the shop and decided to get a quote about replacing a door handle on my 2012 Tahoe LTZ. I spoke to the receptionist and she was very professional and accomodating. I was then introduced to Juan Rodriguez an estimator. I have dealt with the public all my life and I must say Juan was just fantastic to work with. This letter is to let the ownership know that I was really impressed by his profesionalism and friendly attitude. I brought my car in for a fender bender. I needed a new back left bumper guard and some new paint for scratches in that area as well. These guys are fantastic. When I picked up my car the guy came out and explained what they did. Never new I had an accident. OMG! It looked great. Receptionist was very nice and helped me with the payment process. I have a lot problems with mechanics from NWI to the south suburbs. I hate car mechanics! Now having said that I always feel really comfortable going to Kallemeyn to have my car checked out. I've been there with two cars now, I can't remember all the work I've had done on my car, but I know they've done tire changes and break pads. Why do I trust Kallemeyn? Just the other day I took my -new to me- car in because I thought the muffler went out. It turns out I had a hole in the pipe and my exhaust system is one big solid system. He said they didn't have the ability to just fix the problem area and all they could do is replace the entire thing, which would cost me $2600. Instead of telling me that's all I could do, he suggested a place that had the ability to do customer exhaust work. What auto place turns down work? I've never experience that in my life. I usually get told that's all that can be done and they try to charge me for it. On top of the honesty I actually received a thank you letter in the mail after getting work done. Again, I have never experienced that from an auto shop in my life. I've gotten come back coupons in the mail but I have never had an actual letter. And it's not a one time thing. I started going here because my boyfriend's parents suggested them after I moved out here and had car problems. They've always gone there when they needed work and they still receive thank you letters in the mail a few days after repair. read more

Asked them to change oil and filter and use synthetic oil. Charged me $101 for work dealer performs for $75, and every third dealer change is free b/c bought the car from them (Family Hyundai). (Didn't ask about cost beforehand b/c assumed they as an independent shop would charge less than dealer. NOT!) Nice money for about 10 minutes work plus cost of oil and filter! If same pricing applies to other repairs, I'd much prefer dealer's mechanics b/c they know the ins and outs of their own cars. read more

They take long to give your car back. I took my car in May 26 and they told me they found more damage and they need to contact my insurance. Kallemeyn called me 2 days after and said they still haven't heard from my insurance. So I called my insurance myself and they told me they never received anything from Kallemeyn. So my insurance called the shop to see what was going on and I finally got my car back June 10th. read more

Well after a minor collision with a re-tread tire on the way into work, I was not to happy. The collision added a dent and some scratches to my front bumper. These guys did a fantastic job fixing it up for a fair price. It looks so good, I felt like I was driving a new car again. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Don't have any complaints. My car was scheduled to be fixed a week after I went in for an estimate. I loved the fact that Joyce arranged my rental car for me. The convenience factor was really big for me. The rental was waiting for me when I dropped off my car. My car was fixed and I was on my way four days later. My car was recently hit and we took it to Kallemeyn for the repairs. Joyce in the office was extremely thorough, helpful and friendly. She arranged everything, dealt with the "hitter's" insurance, and got Hertz involved for the car rental while mine was in the shop. The car went in on Tuesday and was ready yesterday afternoon. They called us as soon as the paperwork went to the front office that the job was done. The damage was not major and affected the front bumper. They did the repairs and the car came back looking like new! All the damage was repaired, the paint matched perfectly, and both the inside and outside of the car were cleaned and spotless! My SUV is 2002 and looks brand new again! My husband sustained more major damage on his vehicle a couple of years ago. We took it to Kallemeyn and they did an incredible job of repairs. You would never know anything was ever wrong with the SUV. They were so nice and informative about the whole process. We hope not to need this service (like ever again!), but are thrilled with everything involved with Kallemeyn. We highly recommend going here for repairs. Also, a friend has her vehicle detailed here, and she said it always comes back looking like brand new (she has a 2003 car). There was nothing bad about this experience, and Kallemeyn was instrumental in making that happen! We weren't even in the car when it got hit, but Kallemeyn can't take the credit for that. Extremely unprofessional. I took my car to Kallemeyn last week for service and it was easily the most awkward moment I've had in a long time. While waiting int he customer area, the boss began yelling at his staff and berating them in front of myself and several other customers. I couldn't believe how little he cared about maintaining professionalism in the workplace. My young children could even hear him bellowing from outside! I don't understand how he manages to keep employees, let alone attract repeat business. Will I risk being caught in the crossfire next? After seeing these childish outbursts, I wouldn't even let them change the air freshener in my car. Despicable. read more

Just had my car taken in to get repaired. The work on the car itself was good but the customer service was terrible. I called to check up on my car on Wednesday, and they said it would be done by that Friday and that they would call me to let me know what time to pick it up. Two days later I never got a call. I called Saturday on my lunch break in the afternoon to find out that they only have early hours on Saturday and that they are closed Sunday. I called the following Monday, assuming that it would be ready, but I was told that the car wouldn't be ready until Tuesday and that again, they would call me. Tuesday afternoon came along and when I received no call AGAIN, I called and requested to talk to the manager who proceeded to tell me that they needed another day. The manager informed me that it would be ready Wednesday morning and that he would call me when it was. I was never called and ended up just showing up to the shop that Wednesday afternoon hoping it was ready, which it was finally. The manager "Joe" was very nice, it was just disappointing not being able to get my car back for an additional 5 days from the day I was told when I checked up on it after a week. And if you say you're going to call someone...please call them! read more

These guys ROCK! I needed a little back end work done to my car (my fault - ugh). I was paying for it myself, so my husband (who is a giant Kallemeyn fan) took it to three places for an estimate. Kallemeyn's estimate was the lowest (not a ton but it was lower) but as usual, their work is simply top-notch! I'm with my husband - no point in going anywhere else.
