He also tries to help you by advocating lifestyle choices - like good nutrition, instead of just prescribing medications (unless it is absolutely necessary of course). His staff is also very good, and they are always willing to help you final cost effective alternative means to get your blood drawn. In my case, I had wanted to use an outside lab (not affiliated with the hospital), so it will be covered by my insurance. They just faxed the lab order to the lab of my choosing. This ended up saving me hundreds of dollars.

I warn all disabled or isolated people to avoid this hospital at all costs. They are not trained…read morefor it and my last nurse engaged in patient abandonment without care. I called the hospital after to advocate. It took 2 weeks just to get a call back, and that was only after escalating to the head of a department (which since then they've made impossible). No one answers the phone, you must leave a message, and no one you call returns phone calls without an escalation, so you can see the issue. They promised a meeting with staff to address the issue of their having *NO* way to provide medication to someone who is unable to get to a pharmacy that day. This is a problem on 3-day weekends where their patient pharmacy is closed. The nurse told me I couldn't get a ride home either. I had to teach her how that worked, and she insisted on doing it in a way that I knew would not work, and it didn't. If you're disabled avoid this hospital like the plague. Then I got a bill and to get it sorted, because they assured me it was my insurance carrier's issue, took over 8 hours on the phone, on hold for 40 minute periods at a time. Turns out someone didn't read my insurance carrier's EoB, coded the payment wrong, sent me a bill, and wasted 8 hours of my life, and no charge, so it is like they are getting a free employee for a day to do what their employees should have done, and also to supplement a call center with regular wait times of 1/2 hour or more. This used to be a good hospital. Current ownership and management and inability to proper staff this hospital makes it extremely dangerous.

The DAY before his 2-month checkup, the billing department calls to tell me they won't see him anymore until it becomes active. I explained the situation, reminded them my older child is insured through the same plan, and even offered to PAY OUT OF POCKET. Their answer? "We can't see him without active insurance." For a WELLNESS visit. For a newborn. I couldn't believe how little they cared. No options, no effort to help, nothing. Just "no insurance, no visit." Thankfully my baby wasn't sick, because apparently they wouldn't have seen him anyway. This whole situation was completely out of my control, and the lack of compassion or common sense was unbelievable. I've never felt so dismissed by a medical office.
